Isis Working On New Album

Isis is currently writing for a new album, after the incredible success of their 2006 album "In The Absence Of Truth." The recently posted, "We've been working hard on the new record. All five of us sweating away in a small windowless room in downtown Los Angeles. We're making good progress and will have more (and more exciting) news about that to report soon!"

The band also went on to say, "Aaron Turner has a new project he's been working on with James Plotkin and Tim Wyskida. The album is done and has no name as of yet. When we find out more we'll let you know! We do know that it should be released early 2009."

I really really enjoy Isis. I can't wait for their next album. If you haven't heard them or haven't given them a serious listen to you are missing out. I really wish I could have seen them play with Tool :(.

I like 'em, I guess. Like Red, I tried to like them, but for some reason, I can't. I haven't given up, yet, tho. Oceanic was pretty sweet.

Can't wait Panopticon is one of the best albums ever made. I'm sure whatever ISIS produce this year will be perfection like everything do.

Loved "Panopticon"..."Oceanic" to a slightly lesser extent and "Absence" turned me on my head. I'd like to see them surpass it, no small feat.

Not metal in the traditional sense but brilliant for that very reason.

Yeah I agree it's difficult to decide whether ISIS produce metal, but listening to there music feels like metal even when listening to the more sombre parts. Still there definatly producing something that is timeless and there music will never date due to the unique sound they have. Listening to there albums from start to finish is like watching an epic film. I was lucky enough to get hold of the last 50 copies of the Shades Of The Swarm box set, and I must say I only listen to it when I feel I'm not going to be interupted. (it really is good music.)

^Well said. For me my favorite album by them has to be "Panopticon". This is one of the few albums that gives me chills listening to, and I have no idea why. The first track "So did we" is a trip and a great piece of music. The older I get the more respect I'm gaining from the post-rock, post-metal genres. Most of these bands are instramental which bothers some people but if you find the really good bands then you would feel that vocals would ruin the band if they were added which says a lot about the musical talent. Isis is one of the few bands in this genre with vocals (not much, but some) and pulls it off. Their last album was wonderful (falls a little short of Panopticon for me), and their new album should def. push the limits.

Other bands you might want to try out if you haven't already heard of them and you like Isis: God is an Astronaut, Pelican, This Will Destroy You, Mono, and If These Trees Could Talk.
