Metal Blade has announced the signing of legendary Boston Massachusetts metal act OVERCAST to its roster. On August 19th OVERCAST will release their Metal Blade debut, "Reborn to Kill Again," a collection of 11 re-recorded classic tracks and two previously unreleased tracks produced by Adam Dutkiewicz.

"Finally, after much waiting and wondering if it would ever see the light of day, Overcast is Reborn to Kill Again!!! We are all very excited to be working with Metal Blade Records for this release. It is a legendary label that has been home to some of the most influential bands in metal history. It was actually Metal Blade who gave Overcast our first release on CD as part of one of the Metal Massacre comps way back in the day so it seems as if everything is coming full circle. The time has come once again for the beast known as Overcast to rise again. You have been warned." comments Brian Fair

"We are greatly honored to be able to work with and put out such a legendary artist as Overcast" comments Brian Slagel of Metal Blade Records.

Started in August 1991, OVERCAST disbanded in November 1998 after years of being turned down by labels, skimped out on by promoters, and a general sense of the band being too much of an albatross to continue. Heartbroken and emotionally taxed, each of the members went their separate ways. Brian joined Shadows Fall (a band who had opened for OVERCAST on many occasions), Mike D started working on a project called Killswitch Engage, Pete continued writing and ended up in a band called Seemless, Scott began playing bass in Transient, and Jay formed and played in many bands, finally settling down in the band Tunnel Drill.

Now 10 years has passed since OVERCAST was an active band. All of a sudden the stars have aligned, the planets have shifted, and old friends find themselves back home with substantial amounts of free time. OVERCAST is reborn.

Yeah, they were supposed to release this record back then too, but I guess even then they had trouble getting a record deal. I was looking around to see if it came out probably a year or so ago and couldn't find any info on it - thought I just missed it.

LOL! Someone DOES need to learn to read! I hope that Overcast tours and it's not just a group that's going to put out the record then continue their more successful projects. I know they played shows more recently but I think they've all been in the New England area. I have a feeling that they're not going to tour.

I need to check this out. I really like Killswitch Engage, so I figure I will like Overcast too. Mike D'Antonio - what ever his name is - I like his bass playing too.

PS Jesse should go back to Killswitch, it was such a better band with him on vocals. Their old sound was their best. I'm not really digging Seemless.

I preferred Jesse's singing voice in Killswitch, but Howard has a better scream. Jesse's lyrics were better as well. Howard is a great singer and decent lyricist too, though. He's got the voice of a soulful black man, lol.

jesse or howard....both sing better than Brian Fair, his traditional hardcore vocals are ok, but when he tries to sing its just terrible.

ps i prefer howard, better live too.

Howard cant write..thats the problem for me. Jesse used to vary his vocals a lot more than Howard does. In the 2 albums Howards been in all the vocals sound the same

I like Howard's vocals, but I gotta say I liked Jesse's better. I love Shadows Fall, too, so I can imagine these guys will sound great.
