Deicide Drummer Has Some Words For Hoffman Brothers

Band Photo: Deicide (?)
In a recent interview with Australia's PyroMusic.net, Deicide drummer Steve Asheim had the followingto say when questioned about the Hoffman brothers:
PyroMusic.net: You parted ways with the Hoffman brothers a few years ago. Do you still speak with those guys anymore, or not at all?
Steve Asheim: Not at all! (laughs) That was a pretty brutal split there. There were lawyers, lawsuits, threats and all this bullshit, it was pretty ugly. And in the end, they were all just making trouble for the sake of making trouble. So no, those guys can fuck off and stay fucked off. I say that harshly, but I'd say eventually we'll have some contact, but to what extent, who knows.

as good as the hoffman bros were, Deicide is most lucky to have Jack Owens of Cannibal Corpse on their side, like post one said he's very creative, even Ralph Santolla alone, is pretty darn good, as a guitarist myself, i'm very creative, but when you have a pair like this, they can blast the roof off at a show, and about what went down there seemed to be a hiatus with the Hoffman's, i mean lawyer's, lawsuits, and threats, what could go wrong? unless they (the Hoffmans) started the band, so anyway, i think Deicide sound is better now, and that the future is looking bright for Deicide

Guitarists replacable? I hate to burst your bubble but Ihsahn is NOT replacable as his style in both guitar and keyboards pretty much define Emperor, Euronymous is unreplacable (even tho he was but I think that it was blasphemy for Mayhem to continue even tho I love everything they have done with Blasphemer), Tom Warrior is unreplacable (the fact that CF is trying to continue without him is blasphemy), Trey Azagoth (spelling?) is unreplacable, and the Hoffman Bros. are unreplacable (same scenerio as Mayhem). IMO their are 2 items in a band that define it (besides the sound of the band), 1. the style of your guitarist (a guitarist with a notable playing style no matter how talented his skill is, is UNreplacable) and 2. the key songwriters (if not the guitarists). There is one time a replacable guitarist can be replaced and that is when you change your song writing style to fit the style of the new guitarist.

Not to be harsh or anything, but guitarists are replacable, even though the Hoffman bros were legendary. Besides, any band who has the privilidge of having Jack Owen's contribution musically is extremely lucky as he is one creative bastard... So I'll sit beside Steve Asheim on this ocassion!
