No! Don't listen to individual songs. I started on Blackwater Park. That's probably a good place to start...individual tracks won't do justice.

No. Blackwater Park is from '01 I think. A true classic prog album. Enjoy with your chemical of choice...but don't get so f'd up you can't really listen well.

Blackwater Park is a complete classic, yes, if you want the true death vocals of Mikael Akerfeldt then I'd also recommend, otherwise try Damnation as it's possibly the best album I possess being that it's Opeth's only album where they've refrained from instilling their death infested melody. Instead they use a sort of heavenly atmosphere with the darkness incorporated within their lyrics.

Hope Leaves and To Rid The Disease are excellent tracks, I recommend downloading them.
