This is sad news. Weiland is slowly heading for the grave with his type of behavior. He is reckless, and taking too many chances. He is already 40, so he is no longer a young man. If he doesn't start taking care of himself[physically and mentally], he may die.

What I want to know is this.Does Scott want to be clean?....
Seriously !!! Lately it seem's his biggest successes have come when he was totally clean. All the various STP reunion's VR getting his family back etc.It kind of makes you wonder.Maybe Nikki Sixx should introduce him to the guy that got him and the the rest of Motley Crue clean.Or maybe just him depending on who you ask.

It is just a myth that artists produce better work while under the influence. it's mostly because they are always under the influence that they begin to think that they are better with it...the problem is when they are off it, they feel like sh** so when you feel like sh**, you don't do squat

Red, I have to disagree. Drugs alter perception, i.e how you view and react to the world. That definately has an affect on the creative process. Its not the same for everyone, but songwriters who are prolific when using drugs rarely capture the same vibe when clean.

^I have to say that both U AND Red Chord are right, to different degrees. Drugs obviously CAN change your mood/outlook on things, thusly making you more creative/ or shutting down mindblocks to certain concepts, but at the same time, becoming dependent on some things or overusing it can destroy your mind, so the capability to be creative no longer exists at all.
i.e. I have friends who do acid and no longer come out of their houses except to work or get more, and their personalities are so corroded it hurts to talk to them. On the Other hand, I have friends who do acid to help them understand the concept of "18-dimensions" in their theoretical physics class; those guys are fun as sh** to talk to.
I'm not trying to antagonize by the way, just hoping to coincide the two opposing truths...

Agree with post above - Scott is living the actual life of doomed rock star...look what happened to all the other guys...artists who had untimely deaths...he is headed down that same path - sad thing is - he is allowing it to happen. Tragic, man. Fukk, with me, I want to stay healthy and live longer...so I actually fear and respect death. I wonder what Scott's feeling are regarding his own mortality.

39. writes:
Personally, I embrace and accept Death. It's inevitable, so why fear it? Drugs and Alcohol just make living here better in my opinion. I mean, the addiction is what really destroys you 9 times out of ten. With the exception of things like Heroine or Cocaine, which don't just kill you in the long run, but f*** your life over while you are doing them, it's generally not too much my concern. I'm guessing that drugs on THAT side of the spectrum are what he's having problems with, so it's the addiction to those dangerous substances that overriding any thoughts he might have about his own mortality. If he was just drinking or smoking, then I don't think anybody would be giving a damn about his substance abuses.

Well I am clean, which seems to be a little unusual for metal fans. I know about the straight edge kids, though, that are starting up in rock and metal. I am just happy to be alive. I guess I should clarify what I meant, I fear death because I cherish life. If I die, of course I know it is inevitable..however...I fear dying in an awful way. Just my opinion, but drugs and alcohol actually speed up person's chances for death. You can't argue with biology....you drink way too much..you fuk up your liver..or kidneys...smoke a lot and get lung cancer...It is called the psychology of dependence and addiction. Hey, live your like you want to ..but I don't need drugs or alcohol to have a great time at a concert.

This is the thing that get's me.When Kurt cobaine died.I think it was either Jeff Beck or Kieth Richards that saide. He (kurt)Od'd did a short stint in rehab and whent right out on tour. His record label should have post poned the tour.Him going out on the road right away was the worst thing possible.Scott seem's to be on the verge of the exact same mistake. The sad part is he does not see it & neither do the people around him.

I take a moral stance against drugs that are physically addicting: alcohol, tobacco, any form of opiad, any form of cocaine, etc. The key to drugs is knowing when to do it and how often to do it so you don't become addicted (whether physically or psycholocially). I also think marijuana should be legal and LSD should be treated as a misdamenor and not a felony.

I am just not a fan of the Californians who have migrated up north to Wa. They feel that just becuse California has idiotic gun laws we have to have them too. Sorry California is filled with gangs people, but we dont have them like in California! I am also not a fan of the way the Californians drive, you can tell by the way they cut you off and dont stop proper. Its not to say all Californians are idiots, just per capita enough of them to make me want to stay away.

oh, i see. but if you cant stand the way WE drive, i advise you to never visit china. i dont know if its just china, but everyone there drives like they are extremely drunk, but since they drive that way ALL the time they are pretty much experts at reckless driving. so you could argue both ways that either they suck at driving or that they are good at it, depending on your viewpoint.

Dont get me started on the oreiental immagrants and their driving! Hahaha! I am one of those people who knows for a fact I should not by any means be behind the wheel and take the frikin bus! Being the reason for the death or injury of anothers life is just not my thing.

have you heard of that jappanese taxi prank?? the driver is a professional driver and he scares the sh*t outta the passenger. haha, japanese pranks are always so cruel if youve seen any. even the game shows. either everyone there has a great sense of humor or they are not allowed to sue people over in japan.

Scott Weiland sucks at life.
His old STP music isn't bad though, although I can't imagine any new music coming from him to be worthwhile. Nothing right before or after "Sour Girl" can compare to classic STP. He should just quit while he's as far behind as he is. The guy's on his hands and knees. Time to take the dirtnap, or wake the hell up and join society. The latter is preferred in most cases.

68. writes:
Meh. I don't really care anymore. Saw STP in 2000-2001 maybe? On the 4 tour. Crap. Crap, crap, crap. I don't care. I know Weiland's never going to be clean. He's never going to go to rehab. At least not to STAY. Let him die. I bet this fag dies before Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse.
The main difference between Weiland and Staley is that Staley actually influenced people and spearheaded an entire generation. Weiland writes nonsensical songs about how difficult it is being a freaky California millionaire. Just like Red Hot Chili Peppers. Why does anyone even care about STP or Weiland anymore? Let him od on junk, and then when his dead body is rotting away in his fully furnished condominium, we can all take bets on how many days pass before they find the body.

69. writes:
Not the best of days, Crawford Texas? But, I do agree on couple of points: Staley has been a much bigger influence than Weiland. And yes, who Actually does care about STP now? As for the "who will kick it soon" list, I'd say Winehouse will take the gold medal on that one.
