I'm not trying to antagonize by the way, just hoping to coincide the two opposing truths...

Personally, I embrace and accept Death. It's inevitable, so why fear it? Drugs and Alcohol just make living here better in my opinion. I mean, the addiction is what really destroys you 9 times out of ten. With the exception of things like Heroine or Cocaine, which don't just kill you in the long run, but f*** your life over while you are doing them, it's generally not too much my concern. I'm guessing that drugs on THAT side of the spectrum are what he's having problems with, so it's the addiction to those dangerous substances that overriding any thoughts he might have about his own mortality. If he was just drinking or smoking, then I don't think anybody would be giving a damn about his substance abuses.

I take a moral stance against drugs that are physically addicting: alcohol, tobacco, any form of opiad, any form of cocaine, etc. The key to drugs is knowing when to do it and how often to do it so you don't become addicted (whether physically or psycholocially).
