Trivium have announced that they will join metal legends Iron Maiden as "Special Guest" for one show on Saturday, June 14 at New Jersey's PNC Bank Arts Center on the Somewhere Back in Time Tour.
Following the worldwide success of "The Crusade" album (which charted at No 7 in the UK and No 25 in Billboard), Trivium have been tucked away in the studio in Tennessee since January with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters, Death Angel) working on the follow up recording for Roadrunner Records.
Comments Trivium frontman, Matt Heafy, "Trivium is honored to again be asked to play a show with Iron Maiden. We supported them for a full European tour in 2006 and it was one of the best touring experiences we've ever had as a band. Maiden are absolute legends and we hoped one day we would have another chance to share a stage with them. When they called us for this special show we couldn't say yes fast enough. We'll just be getting out of the studio and won't even be touring yet but we're going to enjoy the show and then have the opportunity to watch Maiden do what they do best - kick ass on stage."

"Why can't they open for them all the time:) "
Please tell me you're joking? I was at the infamous gig where Trivium opened for Maiden in London and were met by a bottle of piss. I didn't feel sympathy for them one bit. They suck live and had no business there.

Dear fags,
Iron Maiden influenced all of these bands you've mentioned in some way. They are apart of the new wave of heavy metal. You don't think they have a place openning for Maiden? Your dumbasses. Trivium is awesome, loved Ember and Ascendancy, and guess what....The Crusade was sick a$$ album too!!!! Grow some testicles and appreciate musical progress. They deff have a place OPENNING for an amazing band like Maiden. Metallica deserved to open for Ozzy in 86', its the same concept really.
p.s. A7X rules a$$holes

Please, it's almost impossible to be a metal band these days and NOT be influenced by Maiden. The only ones who can possibly find exception are those in Doom and Stoner metal but nearly every other genre has Maiden to thank for inspiring the bands that founded the genre.
Maiden fans won't approve of popular -core wankery opening for one of the greatest metal bands of all time. If things worked out how they should, Iced Earth or a similar band of similar metal caliber would open for Maiden.
As for the Crusade kicking ass, it was a B-Side to Master of Puppets recorded by a different artist. It was uninspired and nearly any band could have written it after listening to too much Metallica.

^the first time i heard Trivium, I thought I was listening to some "lost Metallica album" that I had somehow never heard, except that none of the songs I heard were distinctively good at all.
Hey, Mr. Dumbf***
MUSICAL PROGRESS!!?!?!!? hmmm, lemme think...Opeth, Meshuggah, Lamb of God, Machine Head, Pig Destroyer...yes! i see now ! TRIVIUM is the next step in Metal! Ahhh, how blind i must have been before! And I had thought they were hacks! Silly me! (Do I need to continue with the sarcasm, or has my point gotten across yet?)

If Trivium didn't belong there, then Maiden wouldn't invite them... if Maiden didn't like Trivium, then they wouldn't ask them to support. Obviously, somewhere, Maiden became Trivium fans. Please, go learn a bit of common sense before trying to make your opinions and crys of "Trivium suckorZ n dont belong there OMG!!!!" into fact.
