Still Remains To Disband After Headlining Tour
Grand Rapids, Michigan's STILL REMAINS has released the following statement:
"Dear friends, fans, and family, this is a goodbye letter from us to you. We will be seeing most of you again I'm sure but not from on stage. We've decided to make this headlining tour our last as STILL REMAINS and Cornerstone Festival our last show. We want to thank all of the wonderful loving people we've met in the past few years for being there for us. It's been an amazing run but we are done for personal reasons. No, we don't hate each other or want to punch each other in the face. It's just time for us to move on to different things in our lives. Please come see us on our headlining tour and help us go out with a bang! We are extremely excited to see what the future holds for each and every one of us. So keep your eyes and ears open and God Bless!!!"
STILL REMAINS' sophomore CD for Roadrunner Records, "The Serpent," was released last August.

Is anybody truly disappointed by this? Seriously. Their new CD was dreadful, especially the huge change from Of Love and Lunacy to The Serpent.
I actually kinda liked this band a little bit and then I heard The Serpent. After that anything that I liked about them went out the window. This band was gone to me when I heard one of their new songs.

StabbingTheDrama,
You couldn't be more right. I actually liked Of Love, but I heard some of Serpent and that was pretty much the end of the band to me. There was maybe one or two songs that I liked, but I couldn't believe the same band made of Love. Hopefully they can make some better music individually.

Some songs on the new one were good, The Wax Walls of an Empty Room and Anemia in your Sheets had some really decent thrash riffs and breakdowns and I think the keyboard work was excellent through out even if a good portion of the album wasn't blisteringly heavy.
Of all the -core bands to break up I can say these guys were one of the better sounding ones.

I don't care what any of you guys say - these guys were a talented group of musicians and they put out great music! And screw all of you ppl who can't appreciate The Serpent! That was some of their best work! Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Of Love and Lunacy but I also loved The Serpent. These guys will be missed and I think it's ridiculous that ppl can't just appreciate their music for what it is! Still Remains - RIP - You guys will be terribly missed . . .

Another MDMcore band hits the dust... it's almost like it was some sort of... fad! Seriously though, I just visited their myspace and I've never seen a group of soppier emos. But hell I listened to them anyway. And seeing as the tracks were either an ATG ripoff or metalcore they get my thumbs down. Go on, you know you want to call me an a$$hole.
Now Playing: Mournful Congregation - "Astralic Dreams"

I don't think popular because at their headlining tour in Madison they only had about 200 or so, i think by going softer they wanted to appeal to a broader audience, to soft vocally to be accepted by most metalheads, yet to heavy at times for mainstream rock in my opinion. I don't think they sold a lot of records, or never broke out big with this sophmore release the serpant

To post 30 - Unfortunately you will see more and more bands developing a sound similar to ATG - because that band is one of the most famous bands in Sweden with the Gothenberg sound. Perhaps they "ripped off" ATG, but it would seem hard not be influenced in some way by a band they must have loved. Just like so many other metalcore bands, Still Remains was paying homage to At the Gates, or even In Flames.
38. writes:
How can In Flames not be considered an influence? They have elements that Still Remains has obviously incorporated in their music. I agree that In Flames has an original sound but they are still Gothenburg and what post #35 is referring to is the keyboard use that defines that genre. In Flames, Dark Tranquillity and At The Gates have impacted not only their specific category but a variety of others. I suggest listening to At The Gates and Dark Tranquillity. They are just as talented as In Flames and have been around just as long.

40. writes:
Anders Fridén frontman of In Flames was the original singer for Dark Tranquility. Mikael Stanne of Dark Tranquillity was an original session member for In Flames. Regardless of what your opinion is both pioneered Gothenburg. I still can't believe you've never heard of At The Gates. A fa**ot? No. Any conversation rendered to you can just be considered pointless. I should have paid attention to all the arguments you engage in with the other users here. I'm the *girl* and you talk more about men's anatomy/sex acts then most women. Who's gay here?

44. writes:
KoRNBoY are you mad because you listen to Korn therefore your opinion is worthless? I do have tattoos, so what? I'm 5 ft 8 in tall, dark hair, tan, 118 lbs and a great figure. Shaved head? No. But I still listen to better music then you. I can't believe you type like a 13 year old girl. Why don't you stop worrying about conversations that go over your head and go listen to real music. Do yourself that favor.

I was talking about your "semen, d¡ck in mouth comments". You comment to people crude scenarios but now you have morals?
Are you a female/male?

Let me repeat what you just typed. I'm the one with the " Windows '95 Apple Computer?" Windows and Apple are two different systems. You listen to Sean Paul and Korn. You type like an idiot and you don't know the difference between an Apple and Microsoft Windows system. Are you just a figment of the imagination? I would have never thought someone could ever be as dumb as you. Why are you even here?
