"Leave it Alone" is the song that features a number of heavy metal artists including Shadows Fall drummer Jason Bittner, F5 bassist David Ellefson, DaiTribe guitarist Tristan '1690' Grigsby, and recently announced Yngwie Malmsteen (ex-Iced Earth, ex-Judas Priest) frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens. The song was written for the upcoming memorial album to Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott. "Leave it Alone" features solos by special guests, Nick Bowcott (ex-Grim Reaper) and fan Brian Cashmore. The song was recorded and mixed in Chicago at Farview Recording by Jason Walsh with additional tracks recorded at Saltmine studios in Phoenix, Arizona.

"Leave it Alone" will be released to radio in April and will be made available for download exclusively via iTunes. All proceeds from the song will go to Little Kids Rock. A preview of the track can be heard on its MySpace page.

I think something all these bands can do to honor Dimebag's memory and Pantera in general is to stop letting all the other sh**ty bands cover Pantera songs. I'm tired of it. Stop.

The song is exactly how I figured it would be. Good sounding drums with a mediocre band. Pointless

I understand Dimebag's death was a tragedy, but I think it's time to let it go. I understand bands want to honor him, but I think they should maybe do so queitly at there show, instead of recording all of these tribute songs and doing covers. Let the man's music speak for itself.

At least people are paying tribute to a great musician instead of whineing about his failed friendships. And the tributes are going to be going for a long time, taht is what happens when someone who demands respect passes on. Dime's death is the current generation's equvilant to Lennon's assassination people... what you should be arguing against is people STILL putting out Curt Cobain and Nirvana tribute albums.

Hm... Posts 5 and 6 both have good points. I guess that in even if the tributes suck it maybe helping them cope and have a feeling of accomplishment while they are at it. I do think that if I were in a band and put out a tribute would take it a step further and put any proceeds into the Dime statue.

Still, it'd be a better decision to make new printings of all albums with Dime on them, remasters, or double LP colored vinyl or something that EVERYONE could enjoy, not just people who are close friends of these bands that usually wind up to be bands NOBODY has ever heard of. Trust me, one of the only things I'm offended by since Dime was murdered was that A7X got away with covering Walk, and I know other bands have covered them, too, but it's just getting really annoying. I heard Pete Wnetz from Fall Out Boy say in an interview that Dime was his biggest guitar influence and I almost shxt my pants laughing at him.

What happened to Dime was tragic, no doubt, but I think the biggest thing you can do as a fan of his is look inward for his influence when you write your own music or something. I know the song's not a cover, but I'm at a point with this Dime thing where I could get a tattoo or something for him, and never hear his name for the rest of my life and be okay with that.

Now, when I hear people talking about Dime, I think "Shut up" but only because I feel my life was so profoundly formed by what he was a major part of, and I feel like nobody else can have my part of that, so I get defensive when people start talking about him, like they're being disgraceful, like sacrilege.

^ Yeah, really, doesn't that just make you want to die? He said that when FOB is warming up at sound check, they'll "often play a Pantera song to get limber." It makes me sick to even think that bonermasters like FOB are even ALLOWED to say the word "Pantera". It's a f***ing sacrilege and it depresses me. Dime didn't die so some scenester shxthead can use his name to get press. I think he should be murdered in cold blood.

^When I first read the headline that FOB was covering Walk... I wanted to kill them myself. A7x I could have just ignored when they did it, but this here was a travesty beyond simple blasphemy. One day, I swear to God, I will either kill, or at least destroy the lives of, every member of that band before I die.

you've been playing for 40 years, that is amazing, although i've been playing for five years, taught myself, i'm an awesome guitarist too, i'm not trying to start anything, brag, or say i'm better, i consider myself superior to most, including veterans, but i have to keep in mind there's always someone better, some of my friend's have compared me artists such as kerry king, as to being better, hahahaha laughs no offense, and kerry king is a big influence on me, i listen, and i'am influenced by, pestilence, holy moses, benediction, nile, kreator, slayer, morbid angel, grave, racer x, napalm death, metallica, death, iron maiden, iron angel, bolt thrower, cryptopsy, obituary, judas priest, black sabbath, diamond head, ac/dc, van halen, pantera, candlemass, trouble, deicide, king diamond, led zeppelin, sepultura, joe satriani, yngwie malmsteen, ozzy, cannibal corpse, behemoth, brutal truth, nasty savage, carcass, mountain, blue cheer, gun's n' roses, vader, vio-lence, bathory, the type of music i make is death metal, thrash metal, with a touch of classic, and i write my own material (lyrics and guitar work), but i'm not starting my band til i get all my equipment, which totals over $12000, and i only go for the best, then i'll start my band ODIUM, which in latin it means hatred, but for now this summer i'm playing in a band with my friend, it's (his band), if it was mine it would be in a whole different fashion, which i'm not giving any of my written material, i save it for my band, i don't even post it on the internet, that way no one steals my stuff, anyway neal have you ever played in a band?
