According to Reuters, Scott Weiland pleaded innocent on Wednesday (March 5th) to driving under the influence of drugs, a charge stemming from his November arrest on a Los Angeles freeway onramp.

The 40-year-old singer for the band VELVET REVOLVER was not in court but entered his plea to the misdemeanor charge through a defense attorney.

Weiland is free on $40,000 bail and was due back in court for a pretrial hearing on April 4.

If convicted he faces up to one year in jail because he has a prior conviction for driving under the influence, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office said.

Weiland, who first gained fame as lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots, was stopped by police on November 21 while driving onto the Hollywood Freeway. He was taken into custody after refusing to take a sobriety test.

Come on you guys, he should be given the benefit of the doubt, innocent until proven guilty you know.......if you buy any of the words before this I have multiple bridges for sale!

Hell, if I was the judge in this case I would throw him in jail for being under the influence when he pleaded innocent to these charges......I mean he had to be high to think anybody would believe he wasn't high right?

Yes LST77, but dude this Scott Weildand! Not just some ex-druggie who simply just cant drive. I know what you mean by the whole "innocent until proven guilty" deal, but in this case we all know he is lieing and furthermore causeing us the tax payers to fork out more dough to pay for his trial! The man has brass balls! After this I will no longer defend him. I love STP still, but as far as I am concerned Scott can hereby count me out as a loyal defendant to him!

Kalis_wrath--I was joking about being innocent. Scott is guilty as hell, I for one don't feel sorry for him or anyone like him anymore. As I stated in another thread about him my GF from last summer had been a meth addict when I met her. She had moved here to WI to get her life in order and to be able to spend time with her kids that her grandma has custody of. Her grandma couldn't take the winters here, so they moved back to Cali. I told her it was the worst thing she could do, I knew if she went back it wouldn't be good for her. That was august....she's been to jail twice since then and is now sitting in Kern County on felony drug possesion charges. Addiction is a terrible thing, I will never condemn anyone for it, but I can no longer feel sorry for those suffering with it. I've seen it destroy a good many people, but this time it's hitting very close to me. I do feel sorry for those out there like me that have to watch the ones they love destroy themselves.

I know too what it is like LST77 to watch those you care for be on drugs. I watched three of my uncles severly screw up their lifes and the lives of those closest to them up badly. I got chocked by one of them as a child because he was strung out on a nice little coctail of drugs. Its a f***ed up thing to watch and be a part of someones addiction to something that makes them violent and put the lives of others in jeporty! Especialy at such a young age. I drink, but dont have/want a licence to drive and smoke. Used to smoke pot, but only do so in very cirtian company. Did shrooms twice and never again! Druggies suck! Words can never describe the pain my poor grandma feels as she thinks its her fault and its not and never was! Words can never describe my own pain watching my flesh and blood harm them selfs and their children and me for their fix.
