Shadows Fall To Reissue "Of One Blood" In April

Massachusetts metallers SHADOWS FALL will reissue their Century Media debut, "Of One Blood", on April 15.

Commented SHADOWS FALL frontman Brian Fair: "It is almost impossible to believe that it has been nearly a decade since these songs were laid down at Planet Z. Zeuss had barely finished putting together the studio and we had barely finished writing these songs, but here we where recording our debut for Century Media. It was a very hectic time as the band was getting to know each other and our sound was evolving constantly."

"This record captures that sense of urgency and exploration and was the groundwork to everything we would go on to accomplish. We never imagined where we would find ourselves today."

"When I first threw in the remixed version, the first thing I noticed was how huge the guitars sound!! Zeuss must have slapped some down home gravy on the disk because this shit is thicky thick!! All of the nuances that were once lost have been restored and brought to the forefront as originally intended."

"This was originally recorded without ProTools and high tech editing while we learned our way around a studio and Zeuss learned what all his gear could do. A lot of the work was done manually and it was tedious and demanding but I feel like that human element is what breathed life into this album."

"For me, it was a cool experience to relive these songs and lyrics while remembering those early days of cruising the country in a shitty van with a bunch of drunk mass-holes."

"Good times."

"You can check out a couple of the tracks on our site and on our MySpace page. The sound difference is pretty massive."

"The pre-sale for 'Of One Blood' has begun and to commemorate the event we have created a limited edition companion t-shirt. You can pre-order them both by clicking this link. Once the pre-sale is over the t-shirt will no longer be available. This is the only way to get it."

Added producer Zeuss: "SHADOWS FALL 'Of One Blood' was such a fresh sound for its time. With a triple vocal attack and a sound that was a blend of thrash, hardcore, and Euro death metal. There wasn't anything out at the time that sounded like them. Brian Fair joined the band and brought in his unique dual voice delivery to the songs while a young 18-year-old Jon Donais added some amazing solos. Matt Bachand's clean singing voice and Paul Romanko's solid bass playing was another special element to this album as well."

"We tracked the album at my personal studio with no computers and limited tracks."

"I originally mixed the album all by hand on a small console. It had a very natural and raw sound to it. When approached to remix the album my goal was to keep the original vision and feel intact while improving the overall sound of the album."

Shadows Falls best work imho. Should put out more music that sounds like this and move away from the sound on Redemption.

Either this or The Art of Balance is what they should sound more like because they had alot of promise with these 2 until the War Within when they sounded like every other band.

That's cool. The sound quality was a bit lacking on that one, although not really bad. I'd probably pick that one up.

I like low-fi affairs but certain albums by certain bands (Immortal, early and middle Dimmu, Opeth: Orchid-Still Life, all early SYL would (or have) benefit from polish).

This is one of those albums.
Of One Blood is a solid record but to hear it all glossy is a novel idea.

I'll get it.
