70000 Tons of Metal - The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise

"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Legendary Virginia Heavy Metal Club Jaxx For Sale

Amber Healy of the Springfield Connection reports that Jaxx owner Jay Nedry recently made the announcement he's considering selling the West Springfield, Virginia heavy metal club he has owned since 1994.

But music fans take note: he is not completely sure the sale will go through.

With an asking price of $1.2 million for the 7,000 square foot venue on Rolling Road south of Old Keene Mill Road, any prospective buyer has to meet Nedry's high standards and his conditions.

"Anyone who buys this place will have to pay an additional fee to keep me on as a consultant for a year," Nedry said.

The reason?

"I've owned this place longer than anyone," he said. "I've worked hard to make this one of the top 10 metal venues in the world. I know how to make this place run without annoying any of our neighbors. I need to find someone who will take this place over and maintain the positive things I've worked for."

I've only been there once, but it was one of the most enjoyable and professionally ran venues I've ever seen a metal show in. Class f***ing A. I have a lot of friends in the area and I know the venue's importance to them. I wish New York City had a venue of Jaxx's caliber. As far as medium-to-large sized venues are concerned, shows at B.B. Kings are generally about as fun as a trip to the dentist and metal shows happen all too infrequently at Irving Plaza. I hope all goes well with the sale, though. The place should be kept within the realm of heavy and extreme music.

please !!!!!! do not sell out to someone who is gonna change the format of shows playing there. i'm 42 yrs. old and have seen just about any band you could think of and still go to concerts all the time. With Maryland closing all the good local metal venues JAXX is the only place left for me to go. If i had the money i would buy it from Jay and run it just like he has for 14 yrs. KEEP JAXX ROCKIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
