According to Revolver magazine, two PANTERA fans — Houston's Joey Riordan and Toronto's Mangra — are trying to get a commemorative "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott statue erected in his hometown in Dallas. As inspiration, they cite existing monuments to Jimi Hendrix (in Seattle), Elvis Presley (in Memphis), and THIN LIZZY frontman Phil Lynott (Dublin, Ireland). "Getting Dimebag Darrell a statue in Dallas matters," Riordan tells Revolver. "That was, his memory will live on."

I agree, we have a statue of SRV in Austin, Tx. So having a statue of Dimebag Darrell in Dallas would be an awesome thing to do.

It's a cool idea, but it requires money. In my home town we're getting a statue of Bon Scott - some people got a huge outdoor benefit concert together last year to raise money, and are having another concert in Feb for the unveiling. They'll still need permission and sh**, but I'm sure lots of bands would rally around a cause like that to raise the cash.

Tell me about it! They did so little justice to his statue its sickening! They put it on the side walk too and its placed where if you drive by it you would miss it if you blinked! I was so dissapointed, but thought it was better than nothing at all. I hope they give Dime more justice. I want to find Layne Staley and Jimmys graves and leave some flowers in the summer or spring. Man. Today I had to inform my friend Dave of Dimes death. He is a young kid and it was kind of sad he did not know what happened and hated haveing to break the news to him. He asked if I knew what happened to Pantera. He looked bewildered and angry. At times its f***ed up to have to explain this type of thing. I sort of feel bad for him. I feel worse for Vinnie who watched as his brother was shot. I do wonder how Vinnie is holding up and if he is o.k.
