Exodus Sued over Use of FedEx Logo
Veteran San Francisco Bay Area thrashers Exodus have reportedly been threatened with legal action by the attorneys for FedEx (Federal Express), who objected to the group's use of the company's trademark name and logo in their "FedExodus — Total Destruction Guaranteed Overnight" T-shirts, which the band have been selling at live shows and via their official web site for the past few months.
In other news, Exodus have finished writing about 75% of the material for their next album, which they are scheduled to begin tracking in mid-November at Sonic Ranch (formerly Village Productions) studio in Tornillo, Texas for a late spring release, according to manager Steve Warner.
All the music for the CD will be recorded at Sonic Ranch with producer Andy Sneap before Exodus embark on their previously-announced European tour, which will include dates in the UK, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Greece. Exodus frontman Steve "Zetro" Souza will then track the vocals for the album at an as-yet-undisclosed Bay Area studio, after which the CD will be mixed by Sneap at his Backstage facility in Derbyshire, England.
Among the tracks tentatively scheduled to be included on the forthcoming effort are "Throwing Down", "AnGary" and "Crime Of The Century", the latter of which is apparently dedicated to the band's previous record company, Century Media Records.
As previously reported, the as-yet-untitled album will likely surface through a new label entity formed by former Exodus manager Toni Isabella and one-time Capitol Records A&R executive Rachel Matthews, who are also said to have added fellow San Francisco thrashers Vio-lence to the roster of their as-yet-unnamed venture.
Also on the Exodus front, there are tentative plans for the group to release a DVD next year containing loads of live and interview footage, including plenty of previously-unreleased material featuring late frontman Paul Baloff.
"We have a ton of video that we are going through," Warner told Blabbermouth.net. "We just got a copy of the [band's performance at last year's] Thrash Of The Titans show.... That came out killer. We are [also] getting a lot of tape of Paul from VH1 when they interviewed him for the Metallica Behind The Music. They only used about a minute of him for the show, but they taped about four hours of him drinking at a nice hotel in the city on their dime. And we might tape one of our headlining shows in December for the DVD. It will be a compilation of Paul in his glory and what we are doing now."
