Kreator Live Album Update

German thrash titans Kreator recently blew through Toronto on the fifth date of their North American tour with Destruction, following up "two great shows and two not so good ones" with a sermon to the Ontario faithful. Backstage pre-show, guitarist and vocalist Mille Petrozza gave BW&BK this update on their (not so) forthcoming live album and accompanying DVD.

"We were holding it back because we were recording a lot of shows in Europe, like 22 shows, and we wanted to wait. We were listening to all the material and we wanted to wait until Sao Paulo and Korea was done, because we were doing the recording for the DVD in Sao Paulo and Korea, so we wanted to see how that came out. So right now, the recordings are done, but we want to see whether the material is there.

"We don't want to do so many overdubs, but if there is tuning stuff on the record, we would tweak it a little bit. So we have to really see what we can do because we also want to do a 5.1 Surroundsound. It's going to be a double CD and double DVD. On the double CD, or on the audio version, it's going to have a little more than just the Sao Paulo show. It's going to have, I think, 25 songs in total. We're trying to do something special for all the different editions. For the German edition, it'll have a live recording from Germany, and for the Greek edition, something recorded in Greece. And it's going to be a lot of work to take all those songs and mix them properly. So that might take us a while. And the cover's not done. We want to put a photo book into the CD, and that's not done either. And the DVD takes a lot of work. We want to do a history part, a Violent Revolution tour part, which I'm recording on the road, and then we want to put on all the video clips we've recorded, and then the concert. So that's going to take a while. Just to collect the history is a lot of work. So the CD and the DVD… neither are going to be out until March or April next year. We will definitely work on tweaking and fine-tuning because we want to have a good sounding record. There's no way around that."
