"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Overkill will work with Colin Richardson on their next studio effort

Stalwart U.S. thrashers have named famed British producer Colin Richardson (Carcass, Fear Factory) to produce the group's forthcoming as-yet-untitled full-length album.

"We've used Colin in a mix capacity in the past... [but this is the] first time, in a long time, that we're in this position [where we can have the album recorded and mixed by the same person]," singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth stated via the group's official web site. "I personally am looking forward to this... Gives more concentration on performance, not split between two things. Stating to roll tape on 10/1... So regardless of other delays...things continue to move..like a bulldozer through bones!"

"The cuts for this one are a good combination of where we've been and where we're going," continued Ellsworth. "Dave has been instrumental in giving almost all the cuts a great feel, with his interpretation and added parts. To go into any more depth would be wrong. It seems I never truly know what's going to happen until it does."

On a related note, Overkill are also gearing up for the release of their upcoming DVD, Wrecking Everything – Live. Ellsworth seems equally excited to get the DVD on the market.

"To control something completely, is only possible when there are two entities. In the case of our impending release, there are different variables...different people to work with, or not work with. My point, we had to restart the process of editing late last month. Based solely on the results of the first edits and time passed. It's never been like us to just 'throw it out there,' and that applies in this case also. DD and I spent [this past] Monday with the new company in charge of editing and they're roaring...getting the results we need, want. This is not an excuse, don't particularly believe in them, but the reason, for the delay. At this time it should be on the shelves by 11/19."

Overkill's next studio album is tentatively due in early 2003 and the Wrecking Everything – Live DVD on November 19, 2002 through Spitfire Records. We'll have more on Overkill as it happens. Stay tuned.
