Sweden's Turbonegro have reformed and will release a new CD
Infamous Norwegian rockers Turbonegro have reformed after a four-year absence, and have signed a deal with Sweden's Burning Heart Records.
"I am extremely proud to see Turbonegro on the label," said Burning Heart Records Head of A&R/Managing Director Peter Ahlqvist. "I think their album Apocalypse Dudes is one of the most important albums released during the '90s, and their decision to make a new album is excellent news."
"We are very happy to have signed with Burning Heart, and chose them — instead of the shitty multi-national labels that were trying to sign us — due to their general good looks and long-time dedication to the Scandinavian underground," said bassist/mainman Happy-Tom.
Guitarist Rune Rebellion had this to add: "There's always been an uncontrollable dark force driving the band forward, I guess recording a new album was inevitable."
Turbonegro originally split in 1998, and are considered to be the forerunners of the Scandinavian rock revival that is now home to The Hives, The Hellacopters, Back Yard Babies and many more.
"If you pissed your pants hearing Ass Cobra... If you creamed your BVD's during Apocalypse Dudes," a statement read on the Burning Heart website. "Well, get ready to shit yourself senseless when you hear their upcoming album! Because no bones about it: With utter disregard for taste or class, tongues are stuck up all kinds of cheeks all the time."
The band are currently working on an album for a tentative fall recording date, which should yield an album sometime in early 2003
