"some music was meant to stay underground..."

An update from The Gathering on the progress of their new album

Hans, The Gathering's Drummer, has posted the following update on the bands official site:
"I am a happy person to tell you all we are in a mixing phase of the new album. We're all relieved and satisfied as it turned out excellent.

Right now we've streamlined the album into a 10 track full length, a mere 50 minutes of music.

Those 10 tracks work with eachother, they are making all individual songs even stronger. The detailing and giving the songs the right balance/mix was sometimes a harsh and cruel proces.. Throwing away mixes of 3 days work, it's painful , spending so many times on details which in the end we didn't use at all. Kill your darlings. But it's the only way. Thanks to Zlaya who worked like a horse, staying alert, focussed and awake, always trying new ideas, and slavedriving the bandmembers till the bitter end."

A release is expected in January of 2003.

We still have some work left, we need to master after the mixing proces is done, but we are getting a more clear picture day by day.

We have done a track called 'A life all mine' with Trickster G singing which turned out totally amazing. Other track titles are: 'Even the spirits are afraid', 'Broken Glass', 'We just stopped breathing', 'Golden Grounds', 'Jelena', 'You learn about it', 'Souvenirs', and some other tracks which don't have any title yet. Some ideas we've thrown away, some tracks will pop up in a different shape. Somewhere in autumn we will try to put an mp3 file of a song online. Damn curious how you people will react on this new CD, as it is quite intense, dark and gloomy. Releasedate is around half of januari 2003."
