Mutiny Keeping Busy In The Studio, Bassist/Vocalist Updates Again

Mutiny bassist and vocalist AJ sent in another update from Legacy Recording Studios in NYC.

Studio Report 2: Brandon's Guitars complete!

It took 12 hours to complete the guitars today for our 4 song EP. This session took Brandon's playing to the next level. Our producer, Ryan Kelly, really pushed for the best results...and that's exactly what he got...shred! Sweeping, tapping, bending...speed picking, sick riffage, and brutal dive bombs. R. Kelly even grabbed the axe for a minute and recorded a harmony solo with Brandon in "Answer To All."

Next week, we'll have today's guitar tracks playback and record using a variety of amps and sounds simultaneously. Among those will be Ryan's 5150 2 head...brutal tone. We're overly pleased with the guitar tracking today.

Yesterday, the band and I went to NYC for a lesson with Melissa Cross at her vocal studio. The chorus in "Answer To All" requires Lu and Brandon to harmonize vocal lines along with my screaming. Drew played the melody on her piano and Sam kept the 6/8 timing steady...she helped us all tremendously with the arrangement.

Afterwards, we ran up 12 blocks to B.B. King Blues Club & Grill to catch the 1st Symphony X show in 2 years! The band played 3 songs off of their new album, "Paradise Lost," and encored with "The Odyssey." After 9 times of seeing them, I finally got to see that song live! After the show, we met the whole band and informed them of our show together on August 11th at Starland Ballroom. Drew and I had previously played a copy of "My Eyes In The Fire" for their keyboardist, Michael Pinnela, of which he approved, saying Mutiny has awesome melodies and technical skills, especially for such a young band! We thanked all of them last night for providing us with incredible influence...

Next week is Necrophagist, they will be playing their album "Epitaph" in its entirety for the first time!

And lastly, Melissa Cross added "My Eyes In The Fire" as her profile song! www.myspace.com/TheZenOfScreaming
