CHIMAIRA frontman Mark Hunter announced from the stage at the band's concert in Chicago Sunday night (April 8) that they will take part in the third annual Sounds of the Underground tour, set to take place this summer. As previously reported, GWAR has been confirmed as the headliner of this year's event, according to a posting on the group's web site. Other acts that are rumored to be playing the festival include SHADOWS FALL, JOB FOR A COWBOY and EVERY TIME I DIE. An official announcement regarding this summer's lineup is expected soon.
The second annual Sounds of the Underground tour featured performances by AS I LAY DYING, IN FLAMES, TRIVIUM, CANNIBAL CORPSE, GWAR, TERROR, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, BEHEMOTH, THE CHARIOT and THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD, among others.
The Sounds of the Underground organizers took a different approach to last summer's festival by keeping the number of bands on the bill down and extending the length of set times. In 2005 most bands got no more than 30 minutes to play.

ok shadows fall is now on the bill and job for a cowboy....j.f.a.c.....im not a big fan of the wave of deathcore and scremo and...basically noise. really death metal is f***ing the old like 80's sh**. sometimes bands come now and then nd they got it but...none of this sh** with blast beats every 5 seconds and pig squels...but anyway
machine head r probably gonna play basically any of the bands who did select date son the last tour will play the full tour this time. terror, the black dahlia murder, job for a cowboy shadows fall...machinee head would be awesome...like f***ing destroying ozzfest at that point

Meh. The Haunted have gone downhill. Bring back ATG. Ozzfest this year isn't the disappointment I thought it would be, but still nothing special. JFAC has lost ALOT of its scenegrind noise, so I'm actually expecting something from them. Bodom and AA would be sick as anything. But I doubt the tour will come to Pittsburgh so no need to get my hopes up anyway.

The bands playing at SOTU 2006 didn't get that much more time to play, at least for the Sayreville, NJ show. All the bands playing, up until about Cannibal Corpse only got 25-30 minutes to play. Don't get me wrong though--the show was f***ing amazing!
Terror wasn't on the whole SOTU 06 tour. They only played select dates. As did Machine Head, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage and several other bands. I don't remember exactly how many.
Here's my top 10 picks, in no particular order:
1) Amon Amarth
2) Gutworm
3) Mutiny
4) Lamb of God
5) Dragonforce
6) Illdisposed
7) Dark Tranquillity
8) Rammstein
9) HellYeah
10) Naglfar
11-Why the f*** not) Old Man's Child
I've been listening to a lot of melodic death metal and some black metal these past few months..
On another note, I'm really pysched to see Nile on Ozzfest.

Terror were not on select dates unless there were just a a couple they left off for some reason. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sounds_Of_The_Underground And also I have the Sounds of the Underground poster and it has all the bands that were on the entire tour on it. And at the bottom it says appearing on select dates: Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, E-Town Concrete, and Dog Fashion Disco. But obviousely there were more but it has Terror up there with the bands that were there the whole tour.
And when did Shadows Fall get confirmed? I haven't heard anything anywhere about them confirming being on.

World Premier - Hot Topic Presents Sounds of The Underground and Unveils A Killer Lineup for the Third Annual Tour Engagement Featuring GWAR, Chimaira, Every Time I Die, Job For A Cowboy and More!
With two stellar years behind them, Sounds of the Underground is thrilled to announce the lineup for their third neck-snapping, skull-splintering tour. With what might be their most high-powered offering to date, SOTU remains THE cutting-edge summer tour.
Following two straight appearances in the middle of the day, the event will be closed most nights by splatter metal champions, GWAR; ensuring that fans will remain blood and gore-free until the closing hours of the show. Three other bands will rotate in the headlining position prior to GWAR bringing the house down: a block-buster artist yet to be announced, face-shredding metal pugilists Chimaira, and experimental noisemakers Every Time I Die.
The day will be completed with a devastating bill including Necro, Darkest Hour, Amon Amarth, The Acacia Strain, The Devil Wears Prada, Heavy Heavy Low Low, The Number Twelve Looks Like You, Goatwhore, This Is Hell, and 2 Cents. Expect additional special guest headliners to join the bill on select dates.
The monumental event launches in July and runs into August.
Mark Hunter, Chimaira vocalist boasts, "We are happy to announce that we will be taking part in this years Sounds Of The Underground. We played the first year and we had a f***ing blast. This year we are going to up the production level and bring something special to our fans. Then we will get wasted every night with ETID and Gwar. See you this summer!"
After being involved with the tour for it's first two years, Hot Topic is proud to be stepping up to present the tour this summer. Continuing another tradition, Hot Topic will carry the 2007 version of the 2CD + 1 DVD Sounds Of The Underground Exclusive Compilation - look for it in-stores and online in late June.
The organizers for this year's Sounds of the Underground Tour; Paul Conroy and Carl Severson of Ferret Music, Tim Borror of The Agency Group, Larry Mazer of Entertainment Services, with Tour Producer Live Nation along with partners Metal Blade Records, Prosthetic Records, Trustkill Records and The Syndicate, and tour sponsors Music Choice, Ibanez, Tama, Purevolume, AOL Radio, Revolver Magazine, and Lambgoat are excited to embark on this third year of mayhem!
Tickets will be available for PRESALE starting April 25th and EVERYWHERE May 11! You can find constant updates, news, ticket and artist info at http://www.soundsoftheundergroundtour.com
