Down Cancel Canadian Shows Due To Strep Throat
Down have posted the following message to their MySpace:
"When something like strep throat is caught by just one member of your band or crew, it is inevitable that the majority of everyone else, (band/crew) will catch the same illness due to the tight living quarters. Well, to say the least, it got Philip the worst. He has never lost his voice before in any touring situation. He has now, and the recovery must run it's course. Down, as a whole, apologize sincerely to Black Sabbath, and all of their people, and to Megadeth, but especially to all the fans that wanted to see us. We wanted to see you as well! We will return as soon as time permits. This is a frustrating time, even depressing. For us (down), it's like training for the olympics, and being injured at the last second. Rest assured, we will return, with a vengeance. We apologize again. much love and a hopeful speedy recovery."
It is currently unclear how many of the Canadian tour dates supporting Megadeth and Heaven and Hell will be affected, but their participation on the Canadian leg of the tour only runs through March 28, so they could conceivably all be impacted. Down is scheduled to begin some headlining tour dates two days later on March 30.

Wow! A lot of HATERADE on this post. Anyway....I wanted to see Down at the Ottawa show. A scheduling conflict prevented us from goin', and I was p***ed. The whole line-up was awesome, but I really wanted to see Down. Now I don't feel so bad... but I'm still a little p***ed.

I heard they had re-recorded both previous Down albums with Rex on bass and are or were working on a new one. Can't wait to see them this weekend in NYC. Should be awesome!!
And in all honesty I could care less if Phil was back on the smack, just as long as he is sober enough to sing. All those years of addiction and I never saw a bad Pantera show so no problems here.

Down destroyed NYC last night. They played a little over 2 hours and everything sounded mint. I think I have every song in the set list but I might be missing one or two and not in this order:
Lysergik Funeral Procession
Lifer
Ghost along the Mississippi
I Scream (New Song)
New Orleans is a Dying Whore
Temptation's Wings
Learn from my Mistake
Hail the Leaf
Theres Something on my Side
Lies, I don't know what they say but...
Rehab
Jail
Losing All
Stone The Crows
Bury Me in Smoke
Phil was right on, his voice sounded good all things considered. He said that the new album would be done "September-ish". He also dedicated Lifer to Dime.
