Meshuggah Complete First Recording in Four Years, entitled Nothing
Swedish metallers Meshuggah have officially completed work on their first recorded work since 1998's Chaosphere. Titled, Nothing, the album marks Meshuggah's return to the metal world, and will possibly open new doors for the band.
"The multimedia too is done, all the stuff started go through the mastering process at 12:00 today, and will be sent by express mail to production, this all to make it available in your store in August (as previously stated)," said the Meshuggah webmaster on the band's official site. "Now the band will go on tour at Ozzfest in the USA for two months, however whether any of the new material actually will be played there is still uncertain. [Drummer] Tomas wishes so, and I believe the entire band does too, there's just not been enough time to rehearse the new songs, and unless they can rent a place over there and rehearse them together, we will probably not hear the new album stuff out just yet."
"The cover artwork is complete, no lyrics or text information will be available on either the sleeves, or such, the only thing available will be the song titles in the correct order (of course). All important information will however be available on the multimedia (such as lyrics, sponsors, gear, and thanks-list)."
"I can actually promise you, this next upcoming album IS the best stuff you've heard from the guys, it's incredibly diverse, evolved, 8-string forced intravenous darkness, all in a perfect mix, you won't wonder anymore how far madness can take you. You will be illuminated, and all your life will be in a state of worship."
However, Meshuggah did remove the song, "Assembly," from the final track listing because the song didn't "feel complete," but is more than likely to appear on a future release of some sort. As it stands, Nothing is set to feature nine songs, and should see store shelves on August 20, 2002 in North American and in Europe.
