Linkin Park Get Honest About Release Date Of New Album
LINKIN PARK has issued the following update:
"Firstly, our new album has officially entered the 'mixing stage' of the process. We have put more into the new album than anything we have ever done before. After over a year of writing, recording, and setting unrealistic finish dates for the record (sorry about that!), we are in the home stretch. The new album is very exciting for the six of us, and we can't wait until everyone can hear it! When can you get your first taste? We are looking to release the first single in March.
"Some of you may think you have already heard some new music; not true. You have heard either 'Qwerty' or 'Announcement Service Public'Â… both tracks that came out of our recording process, but neither of which will be on the album. They are currently available on this year's LPU [fan club] CD. Go check out www.lpunderground.com.
"Also, get ready for LPTV. We are going to be releasing a series of Internet webisodes on www.linkinpark.com that will give a history of LINKIN PARK, as well as an inside look at the studio experience with the new album. LPU members will have access to extended footage on almost all of the LPTV episodes."

The only bands that people rip on here are popular.
You know, I would love to see some of these bands that people like such as Dark Tranquility, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, or Hypocrisy, or some other band like them hit it big with MTV, sell millions of records around the world, and be featured on the cover of magazines. I GUARANTEE their true fans would abandon them because they became popular. It's like these people think to themselves, "Gee, I wonder what underground band I can like next? Since Dying Fetus was played on the radio, I can't like them anymore because I would be considered trendy to like Dying Fetus."
I really would seriously like to see all these people that sit behind a computer and rip on music groups all day make three platinum records like Linkin Park. Do you think Linkin Park can help how their music is accepted by the public?
There is not ONE person on here that would like to make millions of dollars. If you truly don't want to make a lot of money, then you are a GENUINE LOSER, and your comments don't mean anything to begin with.
I have loved Linkin Park since the beginning. This album will prove that you can not kill Nu Metal. No matter how hard you try.

Ha! Spoken like a true materialist. I truly pity you for this comment. As for your point about popularity it's flawed. You to bands like Dying Fetus are not commercial, and hence they do not sell millions. And to sell millions they would have to become commercial and alienate their fanbase. If you think otherwise I'd ask you for an example of a band such as Cannibal Corpse who suddenly sell millions without changing their music.

ArchEnemy84 - hmm i dont think mudvayne is nu-metal...they could be but they have their own sound i think.
Linkin Park is nu - metal but i also read that their new album willl ditch their nu-metal sound..so i have no idea what it will sound like.
o and the antihippy ur so right man...nu metal will not die with bands like KoRn who will put outtheir new cd this Summer! Deftones are still going strong and Papa Roach kinda came back to their old nu metal sound with ther new album...nu metal will live on for a long time!

Yeah I am pretty much the same way Mudvayne Fan.
Nu Metal was the first music that I started listening too when I was very young. Bands like Linkin Park, Korn, Disturbed, Slipknot, Godsmack, System Of A Down, Papa Roach P.O.D., Deftones and Mudvayne really opened up the world of metal to me.
Then I admit the whole nu metal scene died around 03' and then I started getting into Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall. All my friends tell me what "real" metal is but I just have my own opinions on things. I still love the nu metal bands. They just aren't called Nu Metal anymore. I really look forward to this new album that Linkin Park is doing.

im lookin forward to this album cuz linkin park was the one that got me into metal years ago and i still like them, but i can understand why ppl hate them so much and theyre numetal which does not seem accepted anymore to be a type of metal so they dont belong on this site. the only metal linkin park has are the screaming hooks right in the metal of the song. the song "One step closer" is the only one i would consider metal.

I think its sad that all u people try to rip on LP, the highest selling, most successfull band of the century by far, they are possibly the GREATEST band of all time, and with Nu Metal... How many great bands are nu metal? theres KoRn, Deftones, Slipknot, Mudvayne, all of which are still Nu metal, including Slipknot, which is possibly the 2nd greatest band ever. and on them abondoning nu metal....doubtful....and if they do, it wont matter, if uve listened to QWERTY, the sound is different...but its still nu metal, and it still rocks, I am a true Linkin Park fan, its cuz of them that I got outta the rap crap. I will always follow LP music, becuz they ROCK

Numetal
"The only bands that people rip on here are popular".
It often seems like that. This is due to the fact that many here are dedicated Behemoth/Pig Destroyer/Death or Zyklon fans and Linkin Park somehow get "metal" lumped into their identity when they're closer to Justin Timberlake in style and substance.
It's insulting.
"Do you think Linkin Park can help how their music is accepted by the public?"
Absolutely.
Melody, hooks, pop song structure and an ADHD generation run time of 3.5 minutes keeps things smooth and simple for people who want their music like they want their McDonalds.
"Gee, I wonder what underground band I can like next? Since Dying Fetus was played on the radio, I can't like them anymore because I would be considered trendy to like Dying Fetus."
This is your best statement, as this fickle and dismissive element is very real.
Alot of metal bands are percieved as sellouts, the minute they can fill a venue with space for 150 people, or tinker with their sound in the least. That is sad, but people with that outlook are the minority. For me finding a good band on the radio is like find a diamond in the rough, it happens, but not often and not in years.

As I said before I think bands can still retain their fanbase while selling more albums. The thing is to do so, most bands change their sound to something more commercially viable (even though this may be because of pure musical intentions, later Carcass for example). I don't really hear of many bands that are percieved as sell-outs without changing their sound apart from maybe small black metal bands (eg Xasthur, Mutiilation).

Hey RememberMetal? i think this is the only time ive ever disagreed with you. lol
"Linkin Park somehow get "metal" lumped into their identity when they're closer to Justin Timberlake in style and substance. "
haha have you even heard music from linkin park or justin timberlake? i dont think theyre even close to resembling JT in substance or style. Even if LP is not considered metal, they are definitelty closer to metal than JT.
"Do you think Linkin Park can help how their music is accepted by the public?"
of course bands can help it if their music is accepted by the public. the only problem is i dont think anyone would intentionally make bad music that they know no one would accept. and wanting your music like your mcdonalds? so the music is simple like mcdonalds, yet tasty and the business makes millions, yes, i would consider that a compliment, lol, j/k.

antihippy
Don't get me wrong.
I love a good song done in pop form, Soad are also very good at what they do. I'm particularly partial to their debut and Steal this Album! Good stuff. With regards to short songs: Pig Destroyer and Converge have clocked in with songs under 1 minute, and it is some of my favorite music of all time.
What kills me is when people equate album sales to skill or creativity. Britney Spears has sold more records than Metallica, does that make her better?...Someone else makes her music and writes her lyrics. She only has to sing somewhat in tune (an engineer can soften those rough spots) and be pretty.
Alot of making big $ is being on radio and radio demands you make it short and sweet.
LiquidMetal77
Your correct. Linkin Park are much closer to metal than JT. What I'm getting at is more based in method than style, which was my mistake.
Linkin Park and Timberlake follow the pop song format (verse/chorus/verse/chorus) utilize hip-hop overtones and have "very" expensive production values. Lots of hooks, tons of melody and straightforward instrumental performances.

Arch Enemy84- what Mudvayne stuff is nu metal? erm let me oh yeah lost and found, if any motherf***er took the time out to listen to mudvayne's Ld 5.0
they would see that it isnt nu metal. And its a f***ing shame that lost and found was evrer released it has given mudvayne a terrible reputation and a child fan base
no 14 year old wanker would understand the concept of Ld 5.0

I've had QWERTY on repeat on my mp3 player since downloaded the 1st, barely understandable version off Limewire....then I got the the higher quality version off limewire...and now I have th LPU6 CD versions, which I can play on guitar. It really surprised me how heavy it was when I first heard it. my favorite version is the Studio recorded demo version off the LPU6 CD. Its so friggin awesome. I cant wait for the next album. I heard that they are even breaking the "no swearing" policy they used on their past albums. Its gonna rock so hard
