David Lee Roth To Tour With Van Halen
Sources tell Billboard.com a contract could be signed as soon as today for Live Nation to produce a 40-date amphitheatre tour by Van Halen this summer, with original frontman David Lee Roth back in the fold for the first time in more than 20 years.
As previously reported, guitarist Eddie Van Halen's 15-year-old son Wolfgang has stepped in for original bassist Michael Anthony in the new incarnation of the group, which also features drummer Alex Van Halen.
Van Halen last toured in 2004 with vocalist Sammy Hagar, grossing nearly $40 million, according to Billboard Boxscore. Hagar refused to collaborate further with Eddie and Alex Van Halen after the tour's completion ("I don't get along with Eddie anymore, and that's all there is to it," he told Billboard.com in August 2005), although he has consistently played live with Anthony in recent years. The warring factions may wind up meeting in public in March when Van Halen is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
"I see it absolutely as an inevitability," Roth told Billboard.com last May of a potential reunion with his ex-bandmates. "To me, it's not rocket surgery. It's very simple to put together. And as far as hurt feelings and water under the dam, like what's-her-name says to what's-her-name at the end of the movie 'Chicago' -- 'So what? It's showbiz!' So I definitely see it happening."

I think it sucks that David Lee Roth Got booted by the guys he came up with. A lot of people don't agree with his attitude, but if my friends treated me like that I might go on the offensive too. I've seen Dave live 3 times (once co-headlinded with Hagar, who I don't personally care for although he performed really well), since his VH departure and I'll always support Dave. You're either a Dave lover or a Dave hater, and if your a dave hater then see you later- Thanks for everything Dave

I have seen Van Halen 4 times with Dave, 3 times without Dave, and Dave 4 times by himself. All I can say is the 1984 concert was the best concert I have ever seen and I saw almost every metal band there was in the 80's... Van Halen with David Lee Roth back is the best news ever.

another irrelevant reunion. look what happened with Anthrax. suddenly they pretend John Bush was never in the band. for me, they were force with him. both bands kept slagging off their former singers. and now this. sammy hagar is by miles better singer. Van Halen family must be in financial crisis...a so must be Roth

Van Halen reunion will not happen. Period. There are a number of things that could go wrong but I'm betting nomey that it's Roth's mouth that f***s up the whole thing. He's gonna shoot his mouth off sometime, probably soon, and he'll call the whole tour off. And if he shoots his mouth off to Wolfgang, Eddie will cancel the tour and then kill him.
