Korn Drummer On "Temporary Hiatus"

Band Photo: Korn (?)
Korn taped a performance over the weekend for MTV's "Unplugged" series without drummer David Silveria, who's stepping away from the group for awhile.
"I just need a break for right now," Silveria said in a press release.
According to the group's publicist, Silveria's bandmates Jonathan Davis, Fieldy and Munky will continue to record a new Korn album that's tentatively set to hit stores in June. The group also plans to head up another edition of the Family Values Tour next summer sans Silveria, though the drummer's absence is described in a statement as a "temporary hiatus."
Meanwhile, Korn's "Unplugged" special is expected to air early next year on MTV, but a specific date hasn't been announced. Joining Korn for the "Unplugged" session were special guests The Cure and Evanescence's Amy Lee.
MTV.com has an excellent article with more info on the album and a blow-by-blow account of the unplugged session.

Dear Santa...I have been a good boy this year .You can keep all the other presents if you will just have Korn announce they are breaking up and that the singer guy will not ever whine into a microphone again...thank you and instead of milk and cookies I will leave you whiskey and beef jerky

17. writes:
so that is two down 3 to go right, well maybe that one guys next rap cd will sell this time...then they will be down to 2...then the singer guy could trip on stage and impale himself with his giger looking mic stand thing leaving just the other guy with dumbass twisty braid hair all alone and maybe hell go on some faith quest and then NO MORE KORN. hooray...it could happen..think about it.

Dear Chupacabra_hunter,
Santa has informed me that he would be happy to grant you your wish, and would not only break Korn up, but smite them off the face of the goddamn planet. His only request is that the whiskey be Jim Beam and that you advise others to leave him the same.

Davis writes the drum parts, Silveria plays them live and in studio, while adding and tweaking parts.
Untouchables had to wait until Silveria recovered from a freak performance accident with his wrist, some kind of nerve damage tied to an extra rib if I remember correctly.
Either way this band is disintegrating, have been since after FTL really. They've had tremendous impact but they need to pack in before the damage their legacy further (Word Up, Y'all Wanna Single all of the most recent album plumb the depths of raw sewage sh**tiness.)

I post under Korn stories like this one becuse it's fun and easy to ridicule them. My question to you is, assuming that when you read these comments you're aware that about half the people who post will talk negatively of Korn, why do you continue to read the comments if it's just going to anger you and you know it will? I rest my case.

Okay everyone, stop fighting over who should be on a damn forum...
First off, Korn are a bunch of sellouts now...They were somewhat cool when they started out, but they're nothing but a joke to real Metal...
I used to be a fan, and I'm telling it like it is...When you decide to listen to actual Metal bands, you die-hard Korn fans out there will understand exactly why Metalheads on here diss them, you'll realize there are musicians that dwarf Korn in skill and style. And the real Metal bands go beyond the taste and ears of mallcore goth kids buying overpriced baggy pants that fall apart within barely half a year. To Nu Metal fans, I tell you this, when you listen to better Metal like Behemoth, Nile, even Nevermore, you'll see how crappy Korn is...

38. writes:
Let me clarify my stance:
I never used the words"they are sellouts" on this forum but it should be inferred....As in: I may not have said this but so obvious it needs not be said.
Y'all Wanna Single was a single with purpose of getting heavy radio airplay. Hooks, Anthemic choruses, pre-school song structure...

KornIn, I used to be a fan of Korn til the last album...
RM? I know what you said, I just feel a need to say it again...
How Ironic, the song is called "Y'all Want a Single", the song is all about 'fvck the mainstream music industry', yet they are one of the most mainstream bands ever. The chorus goes 'Y'all wanna single say fvck that', but at the same time, the song itself became a single. They're quite the contradiction and hypocrisy nowadays, it not even a laughing matter

ever heard of "epic"? that is probably the first rap metal song.trust me they pull it of pretty well.
also the lead singer of Mr. Bungle, a band that actually combined heavy metal with circus music.

antihippy makes a point....
honestly, I respect your views as fans of Korn, but Korn is just a gateway band for kids still learning about Metal. Once you escalate to better bands, you'll see where I stand on it...I say this not just as a Death Metal/Black Metal fan, but also as a former Korn fan...

58. writes:
at least you gotta respect korn for weaving funk metal and hip hop with other influences into what we now call nu metal.
sometimes i find that it is really sad that nu metal went the same way as grunge, only more so because it didnt die because of one musician's death, but because it died when it lost its spirit and meaning.
of course you can say system of a down kept it alive, but system of a down is not even nu metal, they're prog metal.

59. writes:
REMEMBERMETAL, first of all they are not sellouts, and second of all "yall want a single" was not meant to be a single! Listen to the lryics. thats INFERED!!!!!
And to every KORN fan on here, KORN will make it!
To everyone else, just keep listening to your death metal bullsh** that has no meaning or message!

61. writes:
"just keep listening to your death metal bullsh** that has no meaning or message!"
If you think Korn can write more poetic and reflective lyrics than an MDM band like In Flames, your intelligence rivals that of the chair you're sitting in. It's sad but true.

ha!!!!!!!!
well, i do agree most death metal band aka cannibal corpse music has no meaning and only wrote the lyrics for shock value, melodic death metal bands like in flames and opeth deal with more poetic themes.
just bought still life today and its growing on me.

64. writes:
Yes i said " no meaning or message"........and you say its poetic and reflective?
Im dealing with ignorant metal heads who probably make minimum wage at the local mcdonalds, post 62 your exactly right. Its called shock value, they do it to piss society off and to make morons do absolutly nothing with their lives except to pay them. If they gave a sh** about their fans they would not put out a devil loving-kill yourself-the world is sh** message. So to my conclusion......you ignorant f***s will never change, but thats ok cause the real music is still alive and will always out-do and out-sell, and keep making the best f***en records!
So instead of stating facts you retards will come back on my post like this........You are the epitome of ignorance and delusion!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!
You really need to ask yourself who the delusional one really is, Id say its you and your fantasy music! I bet you sick f***s probably wack off to hairy potter or lord of the rings! HA!
65. writes:
Apart from CC who is this aiming at? Atheist, At The Gates, Behemoth, Carcass, Cryptopsy, Cynic, Death... I'm only up to D you ignorant sh**.
Lets face it, KORNDOGG is a little kid who's only knowledge of death metal is seeing CC on Ace Ventura Pet Detective. Prove me wrong you little b****.

OK OK OK cynic sorry about that but i dont really listen to much death metal. i heard OF those bands but never bothered to check them out.
wow RM you have 400 albums! and poor me here with only 5 =(
but dont worry i'm getting system of a down's self titled one for christmas.

Heh heh.
"you ignorant f***s will never change, but thats ok cause the real music is still alive and will always out-do and out-sell, and keep making the best f***en records!"
Spoken like a true Korn fan. Always making the assumption that an album's quality is a direct reflection of it's sales, ESPECIALLY in the United States.
I'm sorry you have your head up your ass, but if a song like "Twist" is your idea of meaning or message, you're probably the one jerks it to hobbit movies.
PS: If you want to see dragons and sh** for 9 hours, don't watch the Lord of the Rings; just take drugs.

70. writes:
Good responses!...clap...clap.....a round of applause for you guys.
Little kid-no, a 27 year old in the lovely state of Ilinois-yes!
To cynic- those were some great lyrics you wrote up there, WOW they just blew my mind! Do you honestly think because a band or yourself uses really big and exotic words to make em sound real poetic that they rock or are considered real metal- sorry but your dead wrong!
And no im not talking about "Twist" you dipsh**! Listen to hollow life, no ones there, seen it all, break some off, when will this end, counting on me, deep inside, liar, everything ive known, open up, im hiding, alive, .....shall i continue, probably not since none of you have even listened to half the korn songs i listed. When you decide to take a listen then we will talk, but instead youll just keep repeating what i said and running your mouth when you havent a clue about good music!
71. writes:
"you honestly think because a band or yourself uses really big and exotic words to make em sound real poetic that they rock or are considered real metal"
...was that a real question? Maybe you're just used to a... simpler vocabulary. I haven't said anything about Korn, it's you who's ignorantly slagging death metal with obviously no knowledge about the genre.

i´m a Korn fan but to be honest the last cd really sucks!! and now they got an mtv unplugged?? W.T.F is going on?? What´s next, an instrumental album??, and don´t be a**holes, korn is a band not a man, jonathan davis is the lead singer but he needs the rest of his teamates, that´s why the last cd sucks, cuz Head wasn´t there, and now david silveria takes a break?? I hate to say this but maybe the end is coming.......

Korn lost their direction and anger....
The errie minimalism, the screams that really came from the gut, that stuff can be faked but I felt it was authentic.
Theres a reason "Good God" is titled as it is, those were my exact words in reaction to Davis' tantrum in the last minute of the song...I Didn't even know the title. Good stuff.
Listen to how differnt Follow the Leader is from the first two....Or for that matter Otherside is vs any other release.
FTL was generally less engaging in terms of craftsmanship and overtly catchy...Just more common...yawn inducing.
The masses were tuning into Korn without the FTL selloutship but Follow was sooo accessible and the hype behind Korn was so massive that they had to break through.
In my eyes this implosion can only be a good thing...except for fans who still like Korns current direction....The lyrics, never great in my opinion have long since flat lined.

"KoRn is and will always be the best band ever."
Wow, that's almost depressing. That someone can listen to Korn and think, "well, music can only get worse from here".
And yes, post 90 is right about who sold out the worst. Gene Simmons masterbates with that red, white, and blue d*** known as capitalism every day of his life. As for Kiss' music, it's just not my thing, ya know? I'd actually prefer some of Korn's earlier stuff to Kiss.

I'd rather listen to Kiss's poppy material (IE:dynasty, unmasked) to Korn.
I don't know I was into Korn, Slipknot, and SOAD a couple years ago until i found about bands like Iced Earth, Maiden, and more. These Nu-Metal bands just dropped from my list. Can't listen to them anymore.
