Trivium’s new album The Crusade debuted at No. 25 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart this week with over 31,000 units sold. The follow up to 2005’s Ascendancy, The Crusade debuted with an impressive 342% increase over the first week sales of the last album. A worldwide event, the album debuted at No. 7 on the UK charts (where it was certified Silver upon release) with 25,000 units sold, and landed at No. 23 in Germany and Canada, No. 12 in Ireland and at No. 14 in Australia. Says lead singer/guitarist Matthew Heafy, “We are thrilled with how well The Crusade is being embraced around the world. We are very proud of the album and can’t wait to play it for you when our tour comes to your town.” Trivium is currently on a U.S. headlining tour with The Sword and Protest the Hero in support.
The Crusade contains 13 songs written by all members of Trivium. The songs “Entrance Of The Conflagration” and “Anthem (We Are The Fire)” both have videos being played on MTV2 and Fuse, while the album is #1 on both the FMBQ Top 100 and CMJ Top 40 metal radio charts.

old testament?!?!? i dont think so. though i will admit that i was surprised, to say the least, after listening to it. its just so different from trivium's previous works. i think that its a step in the right direction, but the vocals just dont cut it for me.

ok listen i have been a metallica fan for years and this album does not sound like metallica at all. this album sux and i am not talking sh** because i own ascendency and i like that album. but this one is a piece of sh**. I am honest that i think this sh** is to soft to be considered metal or thrash. this album sounds more like hair metal to me. Everyone needs to quit hyping up trivium because they are good musicians but they are in the same category as bands like avenged sevenfold, as i lay dying and it dies today. f*** all them bands
There are some Metallica moments both in the riffing and the vocals, but overall I don't think they really sound LIKE Metallica, and definitely not anything like Testament. RememberMetal's review of this album was just posted actually
well, First i'll say I LOVE this album. second there is not an overwhelming amount of metallica influence on this album, of course there will be some because Trivium has said before metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, and the like are their biggest influences. I think Trivium finally found THEIR sound, awesome.
Nothing like Testament.........But Metallica is all over that record.
For what it is, it's a very good record.
Theres alot of Metallicisms evident but they twist and pull them in interesting directions. It's a good spin on a very obvious sound.
I'm more of a prog, prog-death and grind head than anything but I get the need for clean and catchy metal from time to time and Trivium pretty much have it down to a science.
trivium is a pretty talented band and they have 3 pretty good albums to their credit. i prefer ascendancy to crusade though just because of the whole atmosphere. im a huge thrash metal nut, but personally i prefer their whole mdm sound to their metallica worship. not bashing the new album, it definitly has some good points. except for one thing that drives me nuts. heafy is a good singer but a HORRIBLE lyricist. seriously, just look up the lyrics to ignition, anthem, sadness, or hell any song on the record. he takes interesting subject material and turns them into horriblly sounding juvenile lyrics. anywho, thats my only beef with the band. after all theyre only like 20 years old, so hopefully thatll change in the future. i have big hopes for this band.
one more thing, TONGUEY FACE
=P

if you have nothing productive to add to the discussion then go listen to your "real metal" and gtfo.
anyways, i though the album was ok, it had some good songs, eotc and crusade, but also some mediocre songs. the lyrics werent that good, some extreme cornyness in some songs, the riffs were less inventive than ascendency, but on the other hand the solos were better. i enjoyed every solo on the album, thats what i liked about crusade, just a bunch of great guitarwork.

and im p***ed that everytime someone says trivium they always have to associate them with metallica. look metallica started as bad musicians who just loved music and they jammed. they a rehersal space with anthrax and had to eat what was called losers lunch, which was a piece of bologna in your hand. they were basically nothing but they were so good and eventually they became the biggest band in america and they influenced countless musicians. thats why metallica is who they are. trivium on the other hand im guessing they all came from rich families because they look like jocks to me especially heafy and they have always had hype since they came out. on the crusade all they do is recycle riffs that were used in the 80s because they are too unoriginal to come up with their own. and ppl need to quiet calling them a thrash band. That is ruining a good genre of music. Now i dare someone to argue with me like i don't know what i am talking about.

ALL YOU PEOPLE SUCK!!!! This is probably one of the metal albums to come out this year besides new Slayer and Unearth. This cd brings them out of the crap- metalcore genre into pure metal. Heafy sounds alot different the Hetfield and it's not just Metallica they sound like. Their are NWOBHM influences and 80's metal influences.

I know for a fact that these guys have rich parents.
I watch Trivium very closely because I'm in a band from the same area. My roommate used to play music in a storage unit next to theirs, and I know alot about them.
It sucks to see these guys get the limelight when there are sooooo many kick a$$ original sounding bands in this area. Money talks...
Ya know man a bands name isn't sh** until they're signed really. There has been a lot of bands that names have changed when they got signed. And if your music kicks major a$$ then you have a lot of control and will go somewhere. There are a lot of stupid a$$ names and really f***ed up names. But I know what you're saying, if I hadn't heard of them band before and they were called Frogmonster I probably wouldn't want to give them a chance. But if I did hear them and they were awesome then who cares what their name it and how they look.
Should check out this band from Chicago by me, they're called Maggot Twat. They're really good and there's only two actual people in the band. myspace.com/maggottwat They're a very interesting but awesome band! But I haven't had the privelage to see them live yet but I heard they put on one HELL of a show!
just my opinion, but i think that there is nothing original about this record. solid musicianship. makes for a great tribute album i guess.....and finally i think that trivium is the most over-rated, over-hyped band ever. they are also clueless live because they are too busy trying to be rock stars when they are on stage whether it be an arena or club. not a fan of trivium at all.

hey warloOoOoOck...........i press ip logged sh** and dat was your bald potbelly monkey a$$ impersonatin douches............

This album is f***ing awesome. It reminds me of old testament. Way to bring the metal back to way it should sound.
