Trial For Metal Girl Stabbed In Face with Scissors Ongoing
BBC News reports: A teenage pupil stabbed in the eye with scissors has told of a "gang mentality" based on music and fashion tastes. The 15-year-old girl narrowly escaped losing her sight in the attack at a Surrey school last November.
Giving evidence by video at Guildford Crown Court, she told how she had been the victim of a string of attacks.
One girl, 14, is charged with wounding with intent. Two others, aged 15, are charged with perverting the course of justice by hiding the scissors. All three deny charges over the alleged lunch break attack.
Speaking via a video link, the victim said she had been threatened, and had even received prank calls at home, because she was labelled "a metaler" - a reference to her preference for heavy metal music.
She explained that after the attack she had been scared to return to school in case friends of her attacker "try to finish the job". "I mean, it's this gang mentality that my generation seems to insist upon and I want to stop it," she said.
She also told the court how she had had nightmares about being stabbed whilst at school after years of bullying.
The jury heard how name-calling in the school canteen had escalated into the attack on the school playing fields last year. The three defendants - all pupils at the same school - asked around for a pair of scissors which they said they would use to cut the victim's long hair, it heard.
The victim told the court her attacker held the blade in her hand "like in the movie Psycho". She described feeling the blade puncture her eyelid, and of feeling further blows to her head and back.
The teenager denied suggestions by defence barrister Barry Kogan, acting for the 14-year-old defendant, that she had begun the fight by racially abusing his client or making aggressive moves.
The trial continues.

Jesus Christ.
Poor thing.
I hope they throw the book at those f***ing brats, they deserve no better.
I never had it -that- hard, I got picked on for my shoulder length hair (at the time) but noone bothered to single me out for the music I listened too.
Never came close to losing my sight for it either.

i highly doubt our fellow metal fan was entirly innocent in this case. i know as well as most of you that metal inspires a passion that any fan is willing to stand up and defend in a verbal battle. now leave us not take what i just said as even remotly condoning the action taken, no one deserves to almost have their eye gouged out for listening to any sort of music. i really hope our sister in agression gets justice delivered and those little sh**s that stabbed her get what's comming to them in one way or another.

jim-- thats true, its hard to fully understand the situation until the whole story has been released. yet at the same time, it said that she had been having problems with these twats before the stabbing incident.
in any event, one having their eye nearly stabbed out just because of the way they dress or look or because of their music preferences is just bullsh**. i can understand the teasing and getting picked on for being different, thats what kids do. but when it gets violent, the authorities need to pound respect into these little f***er's heads in a such a way the offenders will never want to do it again.
yet, i still find part of the guilt on the parents. though they have no physical control, and friends can often offset parents' advice and teachings, it is still their job to teach their kids to respect, or at least tolerate people for who they are. tolerance people, f***ing tolerance.

It's really sad. This never quite happend to me but growing up as one of the 1st "MTV Kid's" in my town.I was subsequently hazed .(even though I was listening to KISS way before that)But nothing like this.To this day I've got people who think that something's wrong with me because I like to listen to Metal.
The a$$holes in question don't even acknowledge the fact that I listen to damn near every style of music.Lately I've been getting into Hank Williams Jr.(he's kinda Rockin for an old school country guy). The main reason for it is because I'm black I'm sure. But what does that have to do with anything.
I also listen to Hip Hop & I'm a huge old school Funk and R&B fan(Back when this music did'nt all sound the same)Does that gaine me respect from certain ignorant a$$holes who claime to be music fans ? Of course not.(just for the record I hate lil jon & Nelly, 50's good but a little overrated Kinda like EMENEM)
The point is this. Some people are extremely insecure. So they will do anything to draw attention away from themselves and what ever potential fault's they may have. This is why this kind of CRAP happen's.This is how you get bullies and other assorted Player Hater's.It's f***ed up it's wrong and all of the above but it's true.
Hell a so called friend of mine was or is in the habit of talking sh** behind my back because I've dated alot of white women.(He still does not know I know....yeah he's that dumb). The point is nobody else cares but him and for the most part they think it's funny because this idiot NEVER EVER get's laide and only just lost his virginity at the age of 30.To the neighborhood bicycle so to speak of all people.
Insecurity folk's.That's all it is.That's all it was. That's all it will ever be.
