Pittsburgh Ozzfest Nets 5 Arrest, Police Happy?
According to Observer-Reporter.com, five people were arrested during the daylong Ozzfest at the Post Gazette Pavilion in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Tuesday (Jul 18).
Given the hot weather and the number of people attending the festival, the Hanover Township police chief was pleased there were so few problems.
"People for the most part were pretty cooperative, considering how hot it was and how long it lasted," Chief Jim Geho told Observer-Reporter.com.
Police, however, did make several arrests.
Township police said William S. Solomon, 30, head-butted Nicole Lynn Wilson, 27, during a confrontation in the parking lot. She suffered a contusion and swelling on the bridge of her nose. Solomon was charged with harassment and simple assault.
Meanwhile, Wilson reportedly was told repeatedly by police to stop cursing, but they said she continued to disobey and was taken into custody. She was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
Both were arraigned before District Judge James Ellis and released.
Three New Kensington men were arrested after a fight in the lawn area of the venue Tuesday evening.
David Borowski, 20, and Richard Donald Borowski, 24, and Devin Garrett Gillary, 20, are accused of striking Steven P. Craven, Steven Craven Jr. and Jocelyn Shearer, township police said. Steven P. Craven suffered a severe head laceration, according to court records.
The Borowskis and Gillary were arraigned before District Judge James Ellis on three counts each of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Geho told Observer-Reporter.com police also issued 252 citations for violations such as disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and underage drinking.

right on man, two years in a row and I still have yet to see a fight break out at sounds... ive been to ozzfest once, and only went because maiden was headlining.... most f***ing stupid barbaric concert... and im not just being a p***y, these people at ozzfest for the most part are stupid "angry" kids with wierd hair and f***ing rednecks...

Dude people don't f***ing do it because it's ozzfest dumbass. And I didn't think that SOTU was the greatest either. Ozzfest was a hell of a lot hotter and it was quite a few hours longer. The heat will eventually get to you. Don't blame a festival because people are stupid enough to get into fights and get arrested.
But it is stupid as hell to headbutt a girl because you're drunk and got into an argument. But I've seen fights at tons of shows not just Ozzfest. The only thing there really was at Ozzfest that I went to was the rape. I'm not saying that it's a small thing but that's the only thing that happened. And that didn't have anything to do with "because it's Ozzfest"
I don't understand why they made a report of this, fights happen all the time. I've never seen an article about a fight at a tour that a band is on.

Hey Steven every FU*CKING TOUR AND FESTIVAL ARE ALL THE SAME!!! Just because it's called Ozzfest doesn't mean sh**. Obviousely it's happened before but it has on other tours and sh** too. Ozzfest is just a name. I'm sure people have been arrested at SOTU too but they didn't make it a publicity thing about it. SOTU is basically the same thing with different bands and a different booker. People get drunk at every festival they go to.

These festivals not only are aimed at different audiences, which trust me, sounds and ozzfest are different audiences, the lines are just becoming blurred because ozzfest takes whatever buzz is going on in the hard rock scene, which right now is the metalcore, new american metal scene.
And people do do it because its ozzfest your dumbass. do you kno why? because a good portion of "metalheads" are f***ing morons... ive talked to older gentlemen who go to ozzfest "for the pits and to kick ass" and not for the music... too many people....

So you're saying that Hard Rock and Metalcore are the same thing? okay, whose the dumbass now. I went to SOTU and Ozzfest you little c*** sucker. And There were some bands that were pretty close and some bands that just sucked equally. Like Horse The Band, The Chariot, Converge, and Terror. Some of those bands aren't metalcore? I know Horse The Band is just f***ing gay. I didn't think and of those bands were great. And actually I saw a lot of the same people at both of the events you stupid b****. At Ozzfest there were a bunch of sh**ty bands too. Like Bad Acid Trip, The Red Chord, Norma Jean, Walls of Jericho. And yes, the mallcore sh** like Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold.
And I didn't say they were exactly the same you dumb f***. I was saying that the basis of them are the same. They are both touring festival and they both have metal bands. If I want to I can judge them both to Lollapalooza. But you'll just f***ing b**** about that too. Lollapalooza does not tour it's in Chicago for three days and has artists like Kanye West, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and so on. Why don't you stop being an egotistical b**** and learn to respect people. Ozzfest and SOTU are not totally different audiences. There are some different people because of the gay sh** like Avenged Sevenfold and Atreyu. I didn't really enjoy either concert as much as I really wanted to a.) because of the heat and b.) because there were only a few good bands at each. SOTU last year was badass and I wish I went but I had to work. And if they're not at all a like then why was As I Lay Dying on Ozzfest last year and now headlining SOTU this year? Oh well, I think I proved my point and it's my opinion. But look at it this way. They are all just bands and real people trying to get by, make fans, and be successful.

hey opeth, learn some sh** about the music you apparently know about. Metalcore and hardcore are not the same thing. Nor is half that sh** metalcore.... and yes, they do target different audiences, but like you ignored, ozzfest is digging into the "scene" more and more, thats why a few years ago, it didnt make sense to see bands like that on ozzfest, because it was completely different music at the time.
and man, i said whats going on in the hard rock scene thats big right now... and that is metalcore. If youd like to deny metalcore's hard rock roots.... well, then your just an idiot.

I'm starting to prefer SOTU especially because you see just about every band member of every band playing just walking around and hanging out, checking out the other bands. Because of this I've been able to have real conversations and even keep in touch with some of them (unearth last year, and black dahlia murder this year). I'm not gonna diss this years Ozzfest lineup though... RED CHORD!!

I saw a couple disgusting pit wounds that paramedics had to take care of but that was it. not even any fights, just a bunch of people enjoying a day of great heavy music. everyday something happens at each ozzfest stop. why cant people just chill out and watch some f***in metal and have a couple beverages?? instead you continue to give metal and its crowd the distincition of being avenged sevenfold worshipping drunken f***in retards. but i guess it is a metal show, albeit a bad metal show where stupid sh** is bound to happen. i just hate ozzfest and this adds fuel to my fire.
