Korn Guitarist To Start Multi-Genre Label

KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer has announced plans to form his own record company.
"I'm looking to put together a really eclectic record label that's only for the artists," Munky said during a live appearance on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" this past Monday (July 17). "I want to give back what I've been given, which is the opportunity to make music and make a living. I want it to be multi-genre — hip hop, rock, jazz. I want to sign a jazz band later. Right now I have three acts that I'm about to sign so I'm really excited."
KORN played two songs acoustically last night (Tuesday, July 18) on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" The performance marked only the second national television appearance ever by KORN, following last year's spot as the musical guests on "Saturday Night Live". It's also just the second unplugged performance of the band's career after a four-song stint on AOL's "Acoustic Sessions" this past April. The group performed singles "Twisted Transistor" and "Coming Undone", both from its latest studio album, "See You On The Other Side".
As for whether KORN plans to incorporate acoustic sets into its headlining run on the upcoming Family Values tour, singer Jonathan Davis recently told Launch he hasn't ruled it out. "Everyone's asking that and I don't know," he said. "We'll see once we get into rehearsals. It would be cool 'cause we've been doing it a lot lately and everybody's really been responding to it and liking it a lot, so we'll see. I don't know. It's just, it's weird — I think it would have to be acoustic, all acoustic, or all heavy. I don't know. We'll have to see."
Davis has been home in Los Angeles recovering from a rare and potentially fatal blood disorder that forced KORN to cancel most of a European tour last month.
The band will begin its headlining stint on the Family Values tour on July 27 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with DEFTONES, STONE SOUR, 10 YEARS, FLYLEAF and others.
KORN has added a handful of solo headlining dates around Family Values stops, including August 1 in Orlando, Florida, August 8 in Corpus Christi, Texas, and August 9 in Oklahoma City.

I freakin hate Korn witha passion. But I'm glad that this is happening because maybe they will decide to move on to other projects besides Korn. I think they are the most horrible excuse for a "metal" band ever. I'll admit, the first album was groovy, but after that, it became crap, super crap, and supreme crap. It is groovy that James has all these wonderful ideas for a record company though. Maybe he will do better at that than writing songs. LOL> Just kidding. (somewhat) I'm gonna get heckled for sure now. BLEED BLACK LABEL!!!!!!!!!

You are entitled to hate Korn if you want, in fact, they really don't need you as their fans anyway. They have millions around the world. You can go route for SLAYER, they really need some true fans these days.. so, go on.... GO back to the Slayer page and praise Tom in all his Christian greatness..haha...

wow, you'd think it'd be the Slayer fans hyping about Araya being Christian, but the "haters" are the only ones I've seen b****ing about it yet - I don't understand why they care.
Besides, when it comes to Christianity, no Korn fan can say sh** - remember Head? Yeah, that's right. Actually, on topic of Head, his current solo efforts...fanatical lyrics, there's some crazy weird sh** going on there, but nevertheless, the music isn't too bad. I was quite surprised.
oh, and too true, Blackdog. Especially what with the rumoured instability of the American economy which could consequent a collapse in the near future...or so I've heard.

I think the idea of a multi-genre label is kind of cool, not to mention a slick move business-wise. This label will be able to hit a huge target audience, so it's a smart move on his part. However, don't confuse my praise of his business-mindedness with praise of his band. To be quite honest, I would rather eat whale sh** than listen to KoRn. But of course, no offense to Korndogg and his stunningly eclectic taste in music. Keep up the good work in the forums, douchebag.

I'm not trying to stop your silly "army", Korndogg. I could care less. No, wait, I could care more. But I don't. And won't.
I was just pointing out something - that you people who hate Slayer are the only ones that care enough about them to care what religious tradition the members follow. And that in itself makes no sense. So why the b****ing? I don't much like Korn, but I'm not crying about them whenever the chance presents itself. I think you see my point, get the picture.
BACK ON TOPIC:
Munky's new business venture sounds like a good plan for most parts. He'll have to have a pretty damn good marketing team, though - different music genres reach different markets in different ways, and it'd be difficult to keep tabs on all that and be succesful. Though it also sounds like the Label is more about the artists than the sales, so success may not be so important - maybe RR should listen the f*** up.
