agree w/ remembermetal.....i cant believe that Lamb of God of all bands has compromised just a little bit of their brutality for more accessability. The vocal delivery is more disappointing every time i hear the new track.....the band still kicks a$$ you know, but im tired of every band even LOG compromising for a major label. They cant use the maturing as a band excuse either, b/c the only huge difference in their sound is the vocal delivery (and the song structures somewhat)......I guess it is just dissapointing to see this band give a little for the industry.....i like slayer, and although they are not my favorite they are the only band that i can think of that has never compromised their sound ever and that is something i wish lamb of god would have done, but now it is too late......like i said though, they still rule.

Sort of a give and take thing.
I like hearing Blythe try new things with his vox, it's one of the things that keeps me coming back for each new release for going on 6 years now....but this is the first time where it sounded like something thats already been accomplished...
Someone mentioned Pantera as a likeness and it's hard to ignore the similarities in this video and some of Panteras from "Reinventing".
I'm going to wait till Sacrament is streaming before I vent frustration or leave run on sentences of praise....
Just going to have to wait....

chris adler in this months metal maniacs called this release an album with potential to put them into panteras league...this is them looking for more recognition. this is them trying to claim a throne nobody but those cowboys from hell will ever reign on (save for early metallica, but without the undying loyalty).
i never liked lamb of god. But this song has an uncanny groove that brings panteras rhythm section to mind but lacks the kick to the motherf***ing balls that only dime could wail out. he had a knack for the perfect tone and not to mention the best ear for killer riffs the world has seen since iommi.
this just seems like a lame duck attempt at recreating panteras sound and success. i'll be the first to tell you that we here in dallas will not take kindly to con artist. f*** this sh**.
personally i thought the riff to the song was more of a shot towards a"shedding skin" sound. like far beyond driven, heavy as hell but with a tight groove.

its a great song, really really different from anything that they've done in the past, for the better or worse, i just want randy to get the intensity back into his voice and hope that they just wrote this song for a maybe 'hit' single, either way sacrament will kick ass, and if it does sound a little like pantera thats all the better pantera will always be one of the best metal bands ever.

I admit...The vocals arent Randy's best...But hey, They are trying something new. They are still relatively a NEW Band....considering,they ONLY Have 3 records out... excluding Sacrament. Give the band some credit for trying something new. It adds to the name "Redneck" His voice in some areas reminds me of a redneck, which is kind of cool in my opinion. Plus..it isnt through the ENTIRE Song..its like a verse, then his vocals are regular again. Also, it will probably only be that song..that sounds dramatically diff with vocals. Pantera??? WTF?? They sound almost nothing like Phil. At least, not in my opinion. Randy sounds like...RANDY ! Hahaha. But...whatever...This is just MY OPINION ! I will LOVE Lamb of God forever...unless they totally go "POP" On me ! HAHAHA. I also dont think They are "compromising" with the label? How does a vocal change mean "compromising" when everything else still says "LAMB OF GOD" ?? I dont get some thigns people say on the internet...but...WHATEVER

I can understand them wanting to mix it up a little and do something one of their favorite bands does(Hatebreed) but god dawm son of a b**** they didnt have to do the same line over and over again all can say besides tha is this album better be better than that repetitive piece of sh** whats wrong with having more than three lines of lyrics and more than a half sheet of riffs its the same sh** reapeted 400 times son of a b****

16. writes:
The repetition frustrated me.... I don't think I'm going to buy this album until I hear the other songs first. I don't want to cater to something potentially awesome, but watered down to keep the little wannabe metal kids that listened to Slipknot and thought they were hardcore and cool because of it happy.

Pantera occupied a throne no one will ever again sit on. A lot of people think Nirvana killed 80's metal but if you listen to today's music, particularly NWOAHM, bands like Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Mastadon and God Forbid sound like they studied at the school of Pantera while only sh**ty bands like Bush and Puddle of Mud sound like Nirvana (and I'm NOT bashing Nirvana!).
Having said all that, LoG, I believe, are the next in line to hold the metal crown should Slayer call it quits. While I think there are a few other more talented bands out there (Arch Enemy for one), LoG seem to be the flag bearers for today's metal scene, kicking the a$$ of anyone who dares try to still play that nu or rap metal bull-shi t. We "true" metal fans (aka those that listen to metal cause we like it and not because it's "kewl") just need to keep showing up at LoG and other concerts in full force or it will turn into a prep fest the way Metallica shows have become. They were awesome as usual on Unholy Alliance and I can't wait for the new album. I like Redneck, too. It really shows the range they have. Just hope that range stays away from the mainstream.

sum vocal parts may sound like phil but to the rest it sounds like randy and yes redneck may sound a bit toned down im gonna wait to hear the entire cd before i pass judgement.. and to all those who r on panteras nuts,i hear them everyday on the radio now aint that considered commercial u dont hear log. as far as pantera being the best metal band,i dont think so,during the mid/last half of the 80's they were power/glam rock while bands such as slayer, death, sodom, kreator, destruction, forbidden, etc were out thrashing about while pantera were puttin on makeup as far as panteras sound it sounds more studio dont even sound heavy.if u wanna talk about heavy and brutal one word meshuggah!

21. writes:
Pantera...Hell yes! I laughed my a*$ off when i heard "redneck" it's sounds like the worst of Pantera.Let's face it Pantera is a powerful name in "pop"metal, but only about half of what they produced was any good. So, if we're comparing this song to pantera
you have to compare it to the worst of pantera. Now i'm not a young kid so i've seen many "metal" bands come and go and it appears that LoG is going.I can't help but think "Redneck" is LoG's "Enter Sandman"(as anyone who grew up listening to them knows, that was the shift from Metallica to Metallisuk). But hey, look what Enter Sandman did for them; it got the attention of Slaughter,Warrant,Firehouse, and other "bubble gum" fans and ended up becoming metallica's cash cow.I'll still purchase the album, however, because it is Lamb and there's got to be a couple of gems on it.Hopefully Redneck is just a filler track (doubtful though, seeing as it's the first single).Gospel and Palaces will always be the standard by which to judge LoG's accomplishments.
In the end all i can say is thank god for the young bands out there keeping it Brutal! Bands like Job For A Cowboy,Between the Buried and Me,The Black Dahlia Murder,Beneath the Massacre,Despised Icon, and many more.As for Lamb (and Metallica for that matter), I'm still holding out hope.

23. writes:
hope the industry didnt talkem into it cuz it seemed they were gonna pick up the flag were metallica abandoned it with justice for all,yea right justice for all posers..i like one but back n 87 or 88 ive never witnessed a bunch of prepy students headbanging to metallics it wuz sickening!!!!

24. writes:
you are all crazy. lamb of god hasn't compromised anything, listen to the song, it's not like randy's out there humming and snapping his fingers. and after using essentailly the same vocal tones over all of their albums why not try something else? everybody's a metal purist all of the sudden. they're one of the best bands in history, and if they think change is good who are we to question them? i mean come on, they've come pretty far. as far as i know, i don't think any radio station in my area would play redneck, it's not like they made a power ballad or anything, so my advice is to calm down, be patient and wait for sacrament, the whole album, instead of bashing this one song and foreshadowing LoG's demise.

25. writes:
sorry missy but burn the priest really dont count since 1)different band name 2)they were on independent label.most people didnt no they were called btp till they got big with ashes.every time a band breaks out they start reissuing their independent stuff when i first heard new american gosspel back in 2000 you could bearly find it at local cd stores now you go and they have not only the reissue(nag)but burn the priest cd.the industry is like the government, they'll find ways to take yer money

26. writes:
yer right heddsick, dont get me wrong i love log palaces and ashes were classics they had their distinctive sound what i think people r saying is that redneck is lacking that stamped log sound that got everybodys attention,we true log fans just dont wont them to stray and abandoned what got them there in the first place. looking for better tracks than redneck on sacrament. redneck is an ok song but it lacks that powerfull log signature no what i mean

I agree that "Redneck" doesn't seem to stand out as a particularly amazing track among LoG's repertoire. I've been listening to them since New American Gospel... You can notice the progression in musical style/production from their history -- Burn The Priest was brutal yet blurry; New American Gospel had more clarity but the same style; Palaces, in my opinion has been the most perfectly produced album to date. Percussion was nice and crisp, metallic. Vocals and guitars had primo balance. Not to mention songwriting and delivery. Ashes was where I started to worry about my dear LoG. The album is fantastic and I love every bit of it, but in comparison to earlier works is extremely over polished. Randy's vocals are in the predominant foreground... not exactly the spot I want my thrash-metal. So, with the introduction to "Redneck" I have to say I am disappointed thus far. Where the hell is Randy's guttral growling? I don't want someone sounding like they're constipated during the song. I've got Mudvayne for that [though I do like their earlier stuff].

palaces is a badass cd ashes is also f***in bad but the thing that gives ashes the edge is the production, guitars sound great, notes are more prominent and the drums are superb you no they had to use the motherboard for that cd, the music on palaces is just as good, but i wish that it could of been recorded as ashes was. oh especially (gospel) had it been recorded the same way ashes was,and if randy would of used the same vocal tones as on palaces/ashes and not the higher pitch pig sqweels.that would of been equally great, cuz all their cds have great songs, its just when it comes to production im a fanatic.i like hearing music at its best

I've sat here and read every single post about Lamb of God's upcomming new album. Sacrament. I'm a diehard LoG fan and I've been so for a long time. Seen LoG 17 times live and I don't plan on stopping. Anything they put out there is pure heaven to my ears. If this new CD was nothing but Randy farting on a Mic. I'd think it was the most brilliant piece of work ever recorded. Lamb of God fan for life.

i think who ever rips on a band for trying to do somthing diff is a fukin a$$hole, u cant keep doing the same thing over and over it gets fukin old and if they wana try somthin new fukin let them if ur a real fan u wont care what they do u dont hav to like it but keep ur a$$hole remarks to urself, nobody gives a sh** what u have to say, lamb of god is 1 of the best bands to ever come out, thats y i fuking think slayer and black label society are so fuking bland and boring, they have done the same sh** for to long, if u have herd anyone of there cds u have herd them all,i used to like them untill i grew up and started to appreciat music, and they just to fukin boring 4 me.so let them do whatever they want u have to give in to the companys that is ur job, u have to make a god damn living off of what u do, so if they have to change there sound a little to appeal to a bigger fan base then let theme.if they want to do that to get more money or even a bigger fan base then who cares, its not a personal attack on u. so fuk off if u dont like lamb of god new and brilliant music. they will always impress and influence me.

35. writes:
slayers been doin its since 83 and they continue to becuz they can they dont have to sell out cuz other p***y a$$ bands do it for them. you(adammidolent) fail to recognize that slayer is "THE" led zepplin of this genere of music allways has and allways will. f*** doin somethin different log dont need that bullsh** why fix when its not broken ,what u still gonna be following them when they start playng pop metal.. by the way 17 shows, sounds more like yer a stalker than a fan.i hope log never breaksup cuz you just might pull another "dimebag darrell" incident. poser!!

37. writes:
slayer is the grand pappys of speed/thrash/ metal so all u mother f***ers better recognize a true devoted metal band that never soldout to the industry like p***y a$$ metallica did on the black cd their are a bunch of wanna be bands out there now with that signature vocal style like KSE that are just followers of KSE. they cant come up with their own style .KSE is the only band that can get away with it ,every other band sux!!! LOG is another band that is leading the charge in true metal onslaught, aint to many bands like that.besides meshuggah a class of their own. anybody no of any more bands out there such as the ones ive named eager to hear more of that style,no chemical romance bull sh** bunch of p***ies

38. writes:
redneck is a kick a$$ song, not as good as alot of LOG's other songs, deffinetly different though, and i agree that they might becoming the new metallica instead of the new pantera, pantera never compromised on there sound for anyone and kept nailing out more and more intense music with each album that came , while metallica as they progressed their music seemed to become less metal and more rock, just my opinion.

41. writes:
I hear the Pantera in there. The grooves, the vocal cadence and style....It's an obvious road to take from where they left on Ashes...But I don't want the whole record to sound more or less like Redneck....That would suck.
I hope its a balancing act like Blythe has stated....Personally I like the vocals on Ashes, the instrumental performances on Palaces and in an ideal world, production values that land somewhere in the middle....Thats just me.
