Mushroomhead's New Album Title, Release Date Confirmed

Megaforce Records has set a September 19 release date for the new MUSHROOMHEAD album, entitled "Savior Sorrow". It was produced in April 2006 by drummer Steve "Skinny" Felton and MUSHROOMHEAD at Cleveland's Filthy Hands Studios.

Commented Felton: "It's a new chapter in MUSHROOMHEAD's evolution. There are sounds on this album that sound so brutal and huge. We focused on delivering some vicious hardcore mixed with heavy melodic hooks. Lyrically, it definitely reflects where the world is at this moment in time."

The album's first single will hit radio in mid-August. The band will begin a world tour starting September 12, 2006.

A demo version of a new MUSHROOMHEAD track, entitled "Burn", was included on a FYE sampler which was given away last month exclusively with the purchase of two qualifying CDs at FYE stores. It was limited to 25,000 copies and was done in conjunction with Decibel magazine.

MUSHROOMHEAD's follow-up to 2003's "XIII" (Republic/Universal) will mark the group's recording debut with singer Waylon, who replaced frontman J. Mann in 2004.

By adding Waylon's diverse vocal style...this album promises to be their best to date. Can't wait. Even if you all didn't care for 'em before...check out "Burn" and give it one more chance. Alright...I've said my piece.

No problem...if you like it spread the word. I have read that if this album doesn't take off that it may well be the end of Mushroomhead...which in my mind would be a tragedy. The band offers something different and unique in a world of music that is filled with uniformity...and as a music fan I would hate to see that end.

I always liked this band because they're lyrics have tended to be a little less straight-forward than most nu-metalish bands'. I like lyrics that I can analyse, you can't go very deep with your typical "i hate you. screw you. leave me alone" songs. boring!

however, what with a new vocalist (and thus I'm assuming a new lyric-writer), I'm hoping they'll still retain that facet of their band - the slightly-less-straight-forward-than-normal lyrics, that is.

From what I've heard the lyric writing process has been even tighter this time around. Before, the two vocalists (Jeff and JMann) would write separately...now there is more of a collaboration...so it sounds like the lyrics will be just as good and maybe even mesh together a little better.

I never really liked Mushroomhead, mainly because of the second singer. The music is good, and J mann was the sh**. but that other f***er ruined the whole band for me. especially when I saw them live. he didn't do sh**. the rest of the band was getting nuts, and his b**** a$$ just stood there like an idiot. I have little faith in the new stuff if he's still around.

I think that's what's interesting about Jeff's performance. There is chaos around him and he is just the pillar in the middle of it all. I don't think it's because of lack of intensity...I think it is part of the overall visual performance...in my opinion.

I was never really into Mushroomhead, but they played a small venue outside of Chicago for like $15 w/ Bile, so I checked it out and was pretty impressed.

The new single hasn't been released as of yet. The only thing that has been put out there is the demo version. Should just be a couple of more weeks until the single hits radio. There is a portion of the album version of "BURN" on the e-card that I referenced in a previous post. Sorry I can't help more.

Well...they still have Jeff...he is the one who sang the cleaner (non-rappy) vocals on all the rest of the stuff...and in my opinion was the better singer of the original two. Not that JMANN didn't add anything...because he was huge for MRH...but I think Jeff's voice is indispensable to their sound. And as far as Waylon goes...he's great. He is very versatile. You can hear him on the demo...or you can go onto MySpace and look for his former band 3 Quarters Dead and check out the work he did for them. Anyway...this is going to be an album to pick up the day it comes out. They are putting out 8 different covers (one general, and 7 designed by each band member). I am probably the most biased person on here in regards to this topic...but I consider myself a fairly good music fan...and I think this band deserves for this album to break...and give them a chance to stick around to make more music.
