GRAVE DIGGER guitarist Manni Schmidt has posted the following update at his official website:

"Is it really one month that has passed since the last news? Man, where’s he time going??? Many things have happened in the past weeks: first, I had the gig with HALBER LITER, where I was invited to play three songs of DIE TOTEN HOSEN ('Hier Kommt Alex', 'Wünsch Dir Was' and 'Bommerlunder') alongside Wölli. As expected it all went great and the crowd was standing upside down, not only on our part! The whole concert of Halber Liter, including some well known guests, has been recorded for a live CD so everybody rocked as hard as they could!

Well, the recordings with PHOENIX RISING also have been finished by now. First, Harry rocked his parts without any problems. As the songs were certain for some time he could fully concentrate on playing his guitar. In the following Ralf sang the songs and could mark some highlights here and there by including some harmonic and effect vocals. And then the whole thing was grafted by the Mönchengladbacher Männerchor. In the end everything was checked and judged to be strongly suspicious of becoming a hit so that next week with recovered ears the mixing can begin. I will do that with my friend Freeman in the Dülmener ToneZone Studio.

In-between I also had some song writing sessions with Grave Digger that were very effective. The songs for the album and for the single which will be recorded in the Sendener Principal Studios on 19th June are stipulated. Now there’s only some fine tuning to be done and then we can start rocking in the studio!

And now I can also reveal what I found in the big packet which I received after the exhibition in Frankfurt: finally, I got the deeply desired Peavey 6505 which I was after for a long time! Uwe from Peavey Deutschland has reserved me one right there at the exhibition and sent it to me right after that. And let me tell you, it rocks! We already were able to bring it into action at the Phoenix Rising production.

In addition I got a nice selection of Plectronic’s assortment for testing by Michael. Plectronic takes care of the things that nobody else even thinks of. Things like winders for the strings, cleaning and maintenance compounds and of course plecs! I know people that play with a totally wasted piece of plastic and wonder how they can do like magic with a proper plec. You should try and experiment a little bit instead of always buying standard plecs like Dunlop or Fender Heavy. There are so many great plecs, I realized that once more on my testing assortment. My favourites at the moment are the Pickboy Meta Carbonate 1mm. Just check www.plectronic.de.

The next packet is already on the way! Who sent it and what’s inside will be revealed in the next news! To be continued…

Keep it on.
Yours,
Manni"
