A Dozen Furies Call It Quits
Texas metal/rock band A Dozen Furies have announced their break-up. Winner of MTV's "Battle for Ozzfest" two years ago, the group released an album with Sanctuary Records in 2005. The following statement has been issued:
"There really is no point in drawing this out longer than it needs to be, so I'll try and be quick and to the point. After two amazing short years, A Dozen Furies has called it a day. We could go on and on about all of the reasons why, but when it comes down to it, it's because we've grown apart. I guess a lot of the 'wrong' things fell into place at the 'right' time. I'm sure some might think we were a flash in the pan and now that our 15 seconds is over, we are quitting. Well, most of us have been doing this for close to 10 years and it's just time for some of us to move on. With that said, we would like to express our more sincere thanks to everyone who was with us at any point along the way. All of the fans we've made, friends we've met, bands we toured with, and industry people we've befriended amongst our travels, we'd like to say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. All of you have helped us achieve in just 2 years something that most bands never get to experience in their entire careers. This will be something that none of us will ever forget, and we hope most of you who did run across our path won't forget as well.
Who knows what will happen with us after the split. Some of us will continue pursuing music, some will move on with the rest of our lives... To end it off, we are holding a farewell show at The Ridglea Metal & Hardcore Fest on Saturday, May 6th at The Ridglea Theatre in Ft. Worth, Texas. There are 3,000 bands playing, only the best of the best of course, so this will be a show you shant miss."

What!? Another bandwagon-riding mallcore boyband disbanded!? Really!? YAY! Should it really come as any surprise that these emo/screamo Atreyu soundalikes didn't have enough stayong power to last longer than two measley freaking years?
I agree with Holysh**. f*** A Dozen Furies...And, for that matter, f*** Ozzfest too.

You know it's bands like these that piss me off b/c here we have a band that many ppl thought was going to go all the way, and now that they are breaking up (after a pitiful 2 f***ing yrs) in the somewat mainstream area, they decided that they just weren't clicking as a band. U know wat f*** you A Dozen Furies. U are a waste of my hard earned American tax money and I hope u never see the light of fame again.

Well, that just made Battle for Ozzfest a big waste of time. I voted for Manntis anyway. Anyways I think they should've stuck with it. they were doing good and just threw it all away. oh well, if you guys want to do it. It's gone, any other local band would have loved the f***ing chance to have what you have and it's gone. RIP ADF.

that sucks, a dozen furies was a really awesome band. of course some people never gave this band a Huge chance, but that's probably because like their older stuff is almost punk, but they are always going to be one of my favorite bands. a concept from fire will hold a place in my heart and i think metal fan or not, you should make an effort at checking this band although they were one of the more lighter bands i listened to. RIP ADF

Yea they were good, but they are just another "making the band" failure just like the rest of them. They actually had a chance to make it and now they quiet. Manntis was better and should have won anyways, they were heavier anyways. ADF sold out and started writing more metal riffs once they got signed so they wouldn't be laughed at on Ozzfest. o well

Haha, such a pathetic waste of what little talent they had. Any normal person woulda eaten up the chance they were givin. If I was ever given ANYTHING CLOSE to what they got, I would never give it up. Anyways, Manntis was a better band, and I won't "diss" Cinder, because they weren't full on sh**, they just weren't amazing.

wow this is the first time i havent posted on a slipknot or tallica thread, so here goes. I HATED A DOZEN FURIES!!!!! they represent the disgusting emo sh**tty screaming crap which is taking over the metal underground. i hate them and all who they represent. Thank THE WELCHES GODS!!!!! (dane cook reference). Besides, they only won battle for ozzfest because that kind of metal is "in". I wanted cynder or mantis to win. Both those bands kicked much, much more a$$ than this screamo-underoath look/playalike!!!

thats what happens when you put rookies in the big game. they should have stayed in the clubs where they belong. they thought it would be 4 star hotels, tour busses,
and steak and lobster dinners.there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow if you play heavy music. you do it cause you love it...not for the money...

Couldn't have said it better myself, fux and Hvymetal.
The only reason these goofballs won the "Battle for Ozzfest" is because this screamo, Atreyu/Underoath-sounding trash is indeed "in." Its funny, though--wasn't their guitarist (or one of them) in Unloco, a nu-metal band? Of course, because nu-metal is pretty much dead and buried, they decided to do what any "band" with that mindset would do, jump on the bandwagon and ride it all the way to the bank. But, because they realized that no one can really distinguish one band in the genre with another, they decided to call it quits. As fux already stated about heavy music:
"you do it cause you love it...not for the money..."
This band's "rise and fall", so to speak, should stand as a testament to how very true that statement is.

Wow... i saw you guys up here in indianapolis... you guys are good, and have alot of energy on stage, and you guys even got a label throught winning a show, and equipment.. wtf why the hell would you take all of this and throw it away... why not travel, play shows, and get laid?
wtf else is better than f***ing watching people throwdown to your music. you guys are f***ing idiots.

47. writes:
Wow. This really goes to show you how much Ozzfest helps you get famous. Who cares about a dozen furies? That's 12 furies. These f***ing dildoes probably just lost all 4 fans that they made on Ozzfest. Good work, 12 furies. Way to rock and/or roll! 12 FURIES! WOOOO!

i remember seeing some of those guys around in other bands, and saw them here in town right after the battle for ozzfest thing. honestly, i don't know how the hell they won. there was a huge local buzz about these guys, and they were a complete and total let down...actually they were pretty f***ing terrible. maybe it was an off night for them, but i'm surprised they lasted as long as they did. it wasn't that they weren't "metal" enough, just that their sound was so boring and predictable.

whoa, im from ft.worth same as ADF and the ruled. a concept from fire was awesome especially "an idea and some rope" i usually dont like screamo but you gotta show love to your hometown heros. the could have been the next guns and roses for nu-metal. adf forever

Actually, this is pretty surprising.
Saw this band at Ozzfest and during Battle for Ozzfest. Seemed like they'd stick around for longer than they did. New it wouldn't last forever, though.
