Deftones Set A Fall Release Date For New Album

Launch Radio Networks reports: DEFTONES has set September 12 as the release date for its fifth album, the band's management has told Launch. No title has been revealed yet for the disc, which the band has been working on for the better part of two years. Drummer Abe Cunningham recently told Billboard.com that internal strife nearly broke DEFTONES apart during the making of the record, saying, "I don't want to sit here and complain because these things happen to everyone, but if there was a VH1 'Behind The Music' special on us, it would be the perfect episode."
The group originally began working on the project with legendary ALICE COOPER and PINK FLOYD producer Bob Ezrin, but replaced him with its regular producer, Terry Date.
The recording process was also halted while singer Chino Moreno toured with his side band, TEAM SLEEP.
DEFTONES are currently on the Taste Of Chaos tour with THRICE, ATREYU, STORY OF THE YEAR and others. The trek is in its final week and stops tomorrow night (Saturday, April 8) in Saskatoon, Canada.

imho i loved the last album, BUT i wouldnt be too excited to simply hear more of the same, as S/T was a dense, thick album that took a few listens to really catch on. I wouldnt mind something more immediatly gratifying along the lines of white pony, but altogether different sounding, if that makes any sense. we either have to wait for the release date or the eventual leaking, which could happen anytime since the initial recording was done in Feb...

Last album was decent but was a let down in the face of their 3 nigh-perfect previous albums....Those records defied genre classification better than anyone since the f***ing Melvins....
I expect a better album because:
A.) They have had the time
B.) Chino has Teamsleep out of his system
C;) The band actually sounds excited about this one, where as the last one even the band member were like "Yep, it's another 'tones album."
Crossing my fingers....but not holding my breath.

You can't get mad at them for emo.Atleast they managed to maintaine a certaine amount of testoterone threw out there work unlike emo band's.Def Tones allway's managed to stay heavy.Emo is'nt even cool by Hair Metal standard's.Blameing the Def Tones for emo is alot like blameing New Edition for New Kid's On The Block,Backstreet & Ensync.Yeah they might have had something to do with the start. But nobody told the record industry to try and milk the concept with inferior talent.
