Former Cold Members Resurface in The Witch
Former COLD members Scooter Ward (vocals) and Sam McCandless (drums) have set THE WITCH as the name of their new project. No further details are currently available regarding the band's lineup or musical direction.
COLD officially called it quits in February after nearly a decade as a band. Ward wrote a post on the band's web site titled "The Day the Music Died," which read in part, "When you put a song out on the radio, it is what it is. It's a gamble on your life and your career and your hope. People just didn't react the way we had hoped they would. ... But instead of having someone tell us that it's over, we choose to tell them instead. We bled on those tracks and the label just didn't see what they had. The industry today is too jaded and fake." Ward also hinted that a COLD DVD could be forthcoming.

I can't imagine Sam not making music with Jeremy. I've known the two of you since Confusion, since 1988-89. I just read this today after following you since you became Cold. I have been so proud of the both you and still am. It's awesome to see how far you have come. I knew you would. Whatever the future brings, I hope it brings you back together... for yourselves, as well as the rest of us.

Not true metal in any sense in my opinion...metal was a just a part of their sound.....But I thought it worked.
Nu-metal is/was a genre rife with garbage acts: Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, CrazyTown middle and later era Korn, Disturbed, Kittie, (HED) PE and so many little name acts that didn't get anywhere.....
I found Cold to be among the few on the shortlist (Sevendust, Mudvayne, Soad...uhm..heh..thats it) that were capable of being interesting and dare I say even dynamic....
I'd like to see Scooter Ward take his music and message in to other directions because I think the last album (sucked) proved that Cold was indeed on life support...
So I wish him and drummer Sam McCandless all the luck.

In spite of the fact that I usually tend towards more "metal" bands, I have to say that Cold was one of my favorite bands. Their music had more meaning and depth in it than most of the bands that ever existed. There was never any doubt that Scooter, Sam, and the others THOUGHT about what it was they were writing, to the effect that people could relate to what came out of it...even have their lives changed by it. By those of us who dare to enjoy both the heavy AND the deep and meaningful, Cold will be missed...and THE WITCH welcomed.
