Metallica's Management, Label Reject Ozzfest Rumor

Representatives for Metallica's management (QPrime) and record label (Warner Bros.) have both rejected as "false" rumors that the band will be headlining this summer's Ozzfest.
Metallica have lined up a number of European festival appearances as part of their "Escape From The Studio '06" tour, including slots at Germany's Rock Am Ring and U.K.'s Download festivals.
Metallica recently confirmed in a posting on their official web site that they have recruited Rick Rubin (Slayer, System of a Down, Slipknot, Audioslave, Red Hot Chili Peppers) to produce their forthcoming studio LP. The news was accompanied on the site by several pictures of Metallica in the studio with a shoeless Rubin.
Metallica officially began the songwriting process for their new album late last year and are expected to spend the next few months compiling ideas before entering the final recording stage. A late 2006/early 2007 release via Warner Bros. is expected.

It was just announced at another site on the internet. Band members from Atreyu,DIsturbed,A7x started the rumor about Metallica. As stated by the lead singer of A7x " we suck and all the bands on Ozzfest suck so we needed the rumor of a Mega band to help sell tickets."

that was the only reason i was gonna go to ozzfest. f***. there have been so many other huge bands that have been on ozzfest, slayer, iron maiden, judas priest, pantera, why not metallica? damnit. and the ticket price would only have been about 15 bucks more than metallicas last tour when it was just them and godsmack. it woulda been wel worth the price just to see metallica. even if it is not true now, it should be. or just have them headline sotu, that would be even better!

I wouldn't assume that Metallica's managment is being completely truthful There have been bands that eventually end up on Ozzfest that said they weren't going to play it...Metallica like to do things on their own terms...and if they were going to play at the Ozzfest then they are probably p***ed that they didn't get to break the story themselves (because they are that arrogant). It wouldn't surprise me to see them on the tour despite all this denial. We'll have to wait and see.

When your as huge a thing as Metallica (love or despise their last few albums) you are your own tour.
