As I Lay Dying, Gwar, In Flames, Trivium Confirmed For Sounds Of The Underground 2006 Tour

Band Photo: Behemoth (?)
According to MTV.com, As I Lay Dying, Gwar, In Flames, Trivium, Cannibal Corpse, Terror, the Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, the Chariot and Through the Eyes of the Dead are all confirmed to take part in the second Sounds of the Underground Tour.
The Sounds of the Underground organizers are taking a different approach to this summer's festival by keeping the number of bands on the bill down and extending the length of set times. Last year most bands got no more than 30 minutes to play.
While dates for the trek — including the official launch date — are still being worked out, SOTU will return to Denver, St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Los Angeles, as well as cities in Texas, New England and western Canada. Tickets will go on sale in late March.
More bands will be announced in the coming weeks.

Holy sh**! This tour is going to kick f***ing ass. So far the bands on it are f***ing sic. I'm talking about CANNIBAL CORPSE, BEHEMOTH, GWAR, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, TTEOTD and IN FLAMES (depends what songs they play) and As I Lay Dying has some good songs. But I have to complain about TRIVIUM because they f***ing suck. ANYWAY I'LL BE AT SOTU THIS YEAR FOR SURE.

17. writes:
Trivium is boring after listenin to them in a while..
Lamb Of God is Awesome.
In Flames is cool too.
The Black Dhalia Murder is very good too.
As I Lay Dying...*bows down*
Gwar...theyre just ok.
the chariot is pretty cool tho.
I'm not a big fan of Cannibal Corpse
Too bad they're not coming to NYC
=(

24. writes:
so get used to it met them nice guyz, saw them with IN FLAMES AND DEVILDRIVER and they put on one hell of a performance if u dont like them its either cuz ur a hater or some stupid a$$ one dimensional close minded fan where only death metal is great which is NOT TRUE and for Cannibal Corpse if only they had Chris Barnes then that would be Godly for them In Flames, will kick much a$$ again as usual same with As I Lay Dying

26. writes:
um.
no.
I listen to all type of metal, hardcore, experimental, screamo, emo.
You name it i listen.
So don't come with that i'm one dimensional..
I'm not saying they suck.
I'm sayin they're boring and VERY overrated.
Tops i like two songs by them.
I tend to stop liking bands after they get too much credit (i.e. Trivium)
As I Lay Dying 1645481252843161384 times better than Trivium.
In Flames and Devil Driver are BETTER than Trivium.
PS. I dont hate Trivium.
Nor dislike them. I just think theyre too ehh. Not for me.

Also you bradispi-ssed are a friggin moron, because this tour is hardly "trendy" as you might call it that. "...chimaira has a rapping dj..." no because you have misunderstood the word "dj" because dj's don’t always do beats or rap any sense at all they usually do synthesizes and instrument techno for atmosphere. Seeing as you also hate trendy nu-metal and/or metal-core you are cool with me, but you want to take you own advise and stop the two liner notes with no meaning...
...I think you’re still stuck on the ozzfest thread.

41. writes:
this lineup is alot better than expected. But i could do without the chariot, i dont see how people listen to them, its pointless and sh**ty hardcore. Here are a few other bands that i think should fill out the bill: INTO THE MOAT, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, CEPHALIC CARNAGE, JOB FOR A COWBOY, PSYOPUS, THE RED CHORD, DESPISED ICON, DARKEST HOUR, DYING FETUS, NILE, AND NECROPHAGIST (these are just bands big enough to be asked, there are alot of real underground bands that are good enough to be on this tour)

43. writes:
chimaira blows. I've seen em twice, once on the last sounds, once opening for danzig. the whole metalcore scene blows. Trivium the guys are a bunch of a$$holes. They went to the high school next to mine. I'm glad behemoth and cannibal corpse are playing to show these metalcore/hardcore kids what real music is. and dont you dare say I'm closed mined. cause metal aint the only thing I listen to. jazz spanish guitar work, blues, and classical music. Necrophagist would be amazing to see live, and Nile owns live.
46. writes:
metal-rules live concert review in 2003 of chimaira/soilwork/in flames tour
In other words, unlike many others, I will not instantly dismiss mallcore as "crap" (editor's note: you're fired! haha). I had read many good things about Chimaira and how, along with bands like Lamb of God, were putting North American metal back on the map. When the band hit the stage at 10:15, I let the fact that dreadlocked/hoodied lead singer Mark Hunter immediately ordered the crowd to "JUMP THE f*** UP!" roll off my shoulders. I let it go that they had a keyboardist who would rap a few harmonies.
i remember reading that sh** ways back. so yes they do have a fag babbling wigger a$$ keyboardist. and they still eat 2 tons of sh** as a band minus the rapping. so who gives a f***.

47. writes:
All youguys keep saying that trivium sucks and trivium rules, but all you little fa**ot-ass motherf***ers don't know what good music is. Metal isn't metal if you can hear what they are saying. If you can hear what they are saying than it's p***y drip new metal bullsh**. It's that sh** that ruins the name of true metal music. Actually I take that back because you can hear what Slayer says, and they are true f***ing metal. It's the bands that try to scream like Dissection then start whining like Korn who think they are f***ing death metal, but really need to be shot on site. f***ing fa**ot a$$ bands. You can pick out what Gwar says, too, but Gwar is the best band to ever play a song. What my point is, all you people keep fighting about how cool all these new-metal crap a$$ bands are when the only bands that matter on this tour is Cannibal Corpse, GWAR, and Black Dahlia Murder. These bands really do f***ing rule. The only way they could make this tour better would be to have Dying Fetus, Exhumed, Nile, Cattle Decapitation, Brujeria, Dissection, and Cryptopsy. They wouldn't sell as many tickets, though because they wouldn't have all the little sell-out f***ing trivium fans buying the tickets (the ones who look at Cannibal Corpse and just scratch their heads because they are confused, or see GWAR and run crying to their moms because they got too offended). They would have the true metal fans going if they had those bands come. By the way, you peoplke should listen to this guy fitz, because he knows what he's talking about.
48. writes:
"Metal isn't metal if you can hear what they are saying. " lol you win the greatest sh**brained f***tard award.
i guess those acoustic, clean vocal passages in opeth songs completely turn them into disturbed knock offs eh. and those god awful black sabbath and pantera songs...what do those p***ies think they are doing to the metal community?
f*** metal for a minute and start picking up on "music" bro.

49. writes:
GWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't care what you say, you can say that old and middle era Gwar sucks. Cuz they did. They were still f***ing entertaining. The last to albums, especially "War Party", f***in owns however. I know some may notice nobody has really insulted Gwar on this thread, but it typically happens and so I am doing a Bush-style "Preemptive Strike"! I'd go just for Corpse, GWAR and Behemoth. Some of the other bands are worth seeing, but I just hope that SotU just keeps getting better. Maybe Morbid Angel some day. Maybe they can get enough money to create a ressurection process and bring Chuck Schuldiner and Dimebag back. Maybe Death Metal will be the most popular genre ever. Maybe I just shat a canoo.Regardless, GWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

51. writes:
And it's sh**heads like you that are the reason I put that last post up. Worst f***ing band? What the f*** do you listen to? sh**snot? Limp Bisquik? Gwar can't be the worst band ever, because nu-metal exists. That at least adds a whole genre worth of bands below them. Oh, yeah, and Burzum. Whoever f***in' says Burzum rocks is a c*** rag.

55. writes:
I'm not saying I wouldn't like their music, I'm just saying their lyrics are pure garbage. Just because they're death metal doesn't mean they have to sing about their sick fantasies, Lamb Of God and Cradle Of Filth don't do that. But Cradle Of Filth are Black metal.

58. writes:
B-rad, f*** off!!! stop going on about music you dont understand, damn!
First off Cannibal Corpse growl/scream about that stuff cause they are not just death metal they are mix of gore-grind and death metal...
Second Cradle Of Filth are not black metal they are symphonic black metal which sounds totally different to real black metal such as burzum, marduk, darkthrone, mayhem.
Third lamb of god are death/metal-core band thats why they sing about Politics!
forth, what ever!
59. writes:
Music I don't understand? The only people who understand that crap are rapists and necropheliacs. Are you saying you actually find their lyrics entertaining, they go into full detail as if they were doing the stuff they write about while they were writing it. I am not insulting their music, just their lyrics. I understand gore metal, but they have a song called "I c** blood", and it's about having sex with a dead body!
60. writes:
once again slapping a generalization on an entire subgenre of music...
so shut the f*** up...gore metal is a product of death metal, seperate entities you sorry sh** bag.
you've never read the lyrics to any opeth songs
to any insomnium songs
to any vehemance songs
to any vital remains songs
to any sadus songs
to any akercocke songs...etc
quit talking about metal and stick to the billboard top 100 f***ing pissant mallrat
61. writes:
I'm just gonna stop making fun of Cannibal Corpse's lyrics because no matter what I say people will still listen to those sad excuses for lyrics. But they should seriously be killed for writing crap like that. And bradisp***ed, leave me alone and go listen to your sick a$$ gore metal you loser.

63. writes:
I know people have their own opinions, when I made mine people started launching themselves at me. And no, I'm not Christian at all. Just because I don't listen to f***ed up lyrics doesn't mean I'm a mainsteam goody-good, and if you call me a fa**ot with no reason that makes you just as bad as Cannibal Corpse's lyrics. You have no right to call me gay, you don't even know me. But, you must be one of those losers who goes around calling people gay for no reason, get your facts straight. This whole insulting bullsh** started with me having my own opinions on some lyrics, and you're saying I don't let people have their own opinions, try thinking before you start insulting. And, wow...you called me fa**ot and gay, can't anyone on this site insult someone without using those words, you really seem to be interested in finding out who's gay.
66. writes:
post 57, i know wat the lyrical content of cannibal corpse is thats not my prob. with them its just i priefier to understand wat the hell they r sayin without havin lyrics right in front of me, if u think bout there lyrics are acutally just slayer taken to the next level
67. writes:
Yeah, but I don't mind Slayer. Cannibal Corpse are way too extreme for me, I just don't see the point in writing lyrics that disturbing. It just bugs me why people have such a problem with me hating their lyrics, it's not like they're gonna stop making music just because of one opinion. I don't care if people like Cannibal Corpse's music, I just have a problem with their lyrics, everyone's over reacting, if they think my opinions are so stupid than why are they taking them so seriously?

68. writes:
Gwar is awesome. They remind me of monsters of that gay-ass kids TV show; Mighty Morphin Power Rangers back in 1993-1996. GWAR will defnatetly OWN the power rangers if they faced off with each other. They should kill the power rangers on stage to show how stupid, lame and gay a$$ the show is. I wished that show did not exist in the first place. GO GGGGGWWWWWAAAARRRR!! anyone aggree?

69. writes:
bradisp***ed and War Ensemble, you can suck my c***! Just because I think Burzum is the worst f***in piece of sh** in black metal doesn't mean I f***in' listen to soilwork. I f***in' like some good black metal. Marduk, Darkthrone, Moon, and Emperor are in my cd player right now. And so f***in' what if Varg stabbed Euronymous? I can't insult Hitler until I kill 6 million jews and another some-odd million other people? I'll give Varg one thing, before prison, he made some of the least (note, "least") stupid pictures of the scene, but after his f***in' neonazi haircut, he looks more retarded normal than the rest of black metal taking a make-uped picture of a 90's black metal reunion.
B-Rad, Cannibal Corpse's lyrics may be disturbing to you, but hardly do you see a death metal star (relative term) get put on trial for anything that sick. Or gore metal, if you want to treat them as seperate entities (even Cannibal Corpse call themselves death metal, so I just treat it as a sub-subgenre). Just because they sing (growl, excuse me) about rape doesn't make them rapists, or about murder makes them murderers. Gore metal lyrics are an extremitized metaphor for subjects old school death metal sung (growled) about. That subject was social inflicting of pain. For example, Morbid Angel roared about the weak minded who subjugated the worthy to foolish trappings of the mind. Death sung about those who get off on breaking your will and destroying your self-esteem. Deicide do the same stuff, but focus that target on christianity, on the large (but accurate) generalization that christians are predators upon the innocent, and themselves victims of the lies of a laughing god. Back to Cannibal Corpse, it is my belief that gore metal lyrics refer to the same things. For example, is mutilating or raping someone's social image much different than killing or raping that person? In sociology you learn that all you are to the outside world is your image, and how you think of yourself is measured by how you think (note: "think") people view you. So the symbolism holds up, and the lyrics turn from a promotion of violence to a demotion of needless social violence. Hell, there's even a moral/ethical message in Cannibal Corpse and Exhumed.

B-rad, I'm nottrying to make you agree with their lyrics. I am just reacting to your previous posts where you mad the statements about how these lyrics must be their fantasies and that they are murderers and rapists. You talk about people making assumtions about you but that is the first thing you did on this post. Also, you start out acting so agressively toward something then slightly tone it down and act like such a f***ing victim when the agression is directed toward you. Shape up, don't be such a f***ing hypocrite if you can't call yourself out on it first!

86. writes:
He's being a retard as usual. One day he just randomly started insulting me, I just try to ignore sh** heads. bradisp***ed, what you just said didn't make sense: "B-rad is what
B-rad does", WTF?
And Happysatan13, just let me hate their lyrics, I made assumtions about CC because the song lyrics go into complete detail about the stuff they write about. It's just VERY sickening to me. I'm not judging them or their fans, I just hate their lyrics.

87. writes:
Dude, like I said, I'm not trying to stop you from hating their lyrics. I could give a rat's a$$ if you did. I am just upset with your hypocritical attitude. My explanation of moral/ethical messages in gore metal lyrics was just to offer an alternative perspective to the presumtuous statements you made earlier. Yeah, gore metal lyrics are disturbing to most and you have every right in the world to not like them. Fine by me. I just wanted to make sure you knew that there was more to it than your original statements showed. They kinda have to go into complete detail to make a whole song out of it. But like I said, don't care if you like 'em. It's next to impossible to change the mind of a person you know who's right in front of you, much less a person you don't know over the internet. It would be stupid to try and make you actually like them. THAT's just a matter of taste.
jjjay, yeah, the vocals usually aren't impressive. that's just for a f***in mood. But death metal sports incredibly technical guitar players (morbid angel, nile, hate eternal, death, etc) as well as some of the the best and fastest drummers in the f***in world (did you happen upon the article about the fastest drummer contest? Look on nile's list of articles). Now, so nobody gets caught up in my f***in' words again, I said some of the best. plenty of other genres including black metal and a few non-metal genres have drummers just as good. But not as many of them and not as consistantly within the music worth listening to. Death Metal is hard to make good without an awesome drummer. DM is a very demanding genre, f***er!
89. writes:
the comment was in reference to happysatans spot on remark of b-rads repeated ability to act as metalundergrounds personal prison b****.
the little sh** makes a generalization about necropheliacs dominating the death metal market and then when the kid has his back against the wall it's everybody else that "flips out" about his opinion.
post 59 "The only people who understand that crap are rapists and necropheliacs. Are you saying you actually find their lyrics entertaining"
post 86 "I'm not judging them or their fans"
unfortunately happysatans point is f***ing absolutely correct and if your opinion mattered at all dude then i would probably just ignore you. but instead you're without a doubt the biggest crybaby f***tard on the site contradicting every open minded driven statement you make.
i wouldn't give you half the sh** i do if you would prove one of 2 things. either you show you have a f***ing spine and defend your comment or you could show that you know at least a little bit about the metal community. b****
90. writes:
Fine, you and Happysatan13 are absolutely right. I'm tired of being insulted by you...or anyone for thinking differently than you. I did get out of control when I explained why I hated some lyrics, but you're just as bad. I'm not saying don't listen to what ever you want, I'm saying I don't like the lyrics. But, yes, I agree with 100% with post 87, because he can actually try to make a point without constantly swearing or insulting me. You, on the other hand, have to insult me and swear alot. The more you swear the less intelligent you sound. I don't know why you hate me bradisp***ed, but the only reason I hate you is BECAUSE you hate me. Before you started disagreeing with you, I didn't mind you at all.
Lets just please drop the whole me hating Cannibal Corpse's lyrics thing, okay, I've made my appologies and I've at least agreed with your posts. But.....I'm not the biggest cry baby on this site, I'm just posting MY thoughts and opinions, and you just happened to disagree with them.
And bradisp***ed, I didn't direct that necropheliac post at Death Metal, I was saying how I feel about CCs lyrics.

92. writes:
Well, now that we have got that out of the way. I kind of wonder way bradisp***ed said my points are correct; because it's unfortunate that b-rad had to talk underinformed sh** about cannibal corpse and a whole subgenre that doesn't deserve unstudied extreme judgement, or because he agrees with someone who at the same time despises the music of Burzum (or Count Grishak/Varg, it's one person anyways.)
I must admit, I have been hypocritical this post too. Burzum is, after all, a classic of black metal whether or not anybody, nobody, or everybody likes it. To be more personal than anybody f***in' cares, I have been in a f***in' depressed and angry mood lately. That is why I had made my opinion of Burzum stronger than I normally would. I don't like Burzum, but it's mainly because I just cannot get along with the drum/guitar interactions that Varg chose. However, some of the riffs that Varg writes I will say are good... some. And I am an a$$hole to pass judgement because Varg and I seem to write very similarly. Also, I just hate Varg, who stands for everything that is against me. I am a jew. A religious jew. Maybe a jew makes a big mistake liking black metal, but there's no accounting for taste. Whether or not the taste is good. I should not connect the quality of the music to the quality of the man. However, all the above aside, the few parts of aske that I like, I really like. The rest, I still say is overrated.
B-Rad, if I seemed too agressive to you, I am sorry. However, I still stand by every last word I directed toward you. Sadly, hatred is directed toward those who are not understood, but only deserved by those who are undertood perfectly and remain sh**heads none the less.
Oh, and slayerdisciple, no genre has nothing but good musicians. Although a blast beat is more difficult than it sounds (don't know if you are a drummer). If you aren't a drummer, try sinking a cymbal, snare, and bass drum at the same time. Three things at once isn't that easy. However, you are right in that a lot of bands overuse the blast beat (and the double kick, you forgot to mention that, although the double kick if f***in' hard too when held as long as death metal demands). But that's why I only mentions bands with consitantly good drummers AND guitarists. Pete Sandoval (Morbid Angel) is one who is known to hold back by those who have heard him freestyle the guitar. MA's Trey Azagthoth has to his credit that his writing is much harder than his playing. The new Nile drummer can write drums to odd-time polyrhythms that work perfectly without even consulting the bandmember who wrote them. He just hears it and writes. As for Death, Chuck Schuldiner had hired and fired many people in his history of Death. Mostly guitarist, but bassists and drummers for the same reason. Not being able to keep up. I thought I had made my point clear, but apparently (and not fescitiously of sardonically) I haven't. Yeah, there are a lot of sh**ty drummers in death metal. Yeah, there are a lot of awesome drummers in other genres. Now, compare the best of the other genres to the best of Death Metal. DM's best are typically worlds better that the other genre's drummers. oh well. I am too drunk to continure now.
Ok, My confession is over. For those who are thinking "just f***in' stick to the article," I am sorry for wasting your time.
93. writes:
I still don't care if someone has a problem with me hating some lyrics, my opinions about this will probably never change. And Happysatan13, you weren't too aggresive, you were making a point that is 100% right. I just hate that on this site if I make an opinion that someone doesn't agree with they have to start attacking me and use anything they can against my opinion, I'm not talking about everyone on the site. I guess half of this site doesn't believe in freedom speech.

95. writes:
Yeah, I know, slayerdisciple. Drunk me doesn't cuz he can't sync his hand with his own beer. I only realised that I was f***in drunk last night when I felt like just laying my head on the keyboard and taking a nap on my computer. however, I stand by my statements on DM drummers. Sure, there are the crappy ones that fall to doing cheap tricks all the f***in time, and I don't listen to those. However, the death metal with good drummers are more often than not the best I've heard.
