MTV2 Headbangers Ball: The Revenge Details Announced

Band Photo: Slipknot (?)
MTV2 and Roadrunner Records have announced the release of the third installment in the successful series – MTV2 HEADBANGERS BALL: THE REVENGE. The low priced, double-disc is due in stores on April 11, 2006.
On the heels of the Gold certification of the first installment, MTV2 HEADBANGERS BALL, VOLUME 1 and the success with MTV2 HEADBANGERS BALL, VOLUME 2, MTV2 and Roadrunner Records once again set out to gather the very best in Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. The result is more than 2 1/2 hours of music on 2 CDs: disc one represents the strongest tracks from today's biggest rock bands, and disc two brings together the strongest up-and-comers from the underground rock scene.
In addition to the genre-defining anthems that represent the best of the show, there are enough rare and unreleased tracks to satisfy tastemaker metal fans as well. Packed with a total of 38 hard-charging tracks, this collection has 7 exclusive offerings. They include the Terry Date mix of Slipknot's "Before I Forget", and the live recording of Killswitch Engage's "A Bid Farewell", which both see their first CD release on this compilation. Other exclusives are brand new tracks from Hatebreed and Walls Of Jericho, both of which were written especially for this release (Hatebreed's lead vocalist, Jamey Jasta, is the host of the Headbangers Ball program on MTV2). A video for the Hatebreed track, entitled "To The Threshold", will air on video channels in March. A side project of Jasta's, Kingdom of Sorrow (which also includes members of Down, Crowbar and Seemless), also throws a brand new track into the ring. The compilation beat Dragonforce and 36 Crazyfists' record releases to the punch with fresh new tracks from these up-and-comers.

i think this new compilation of headbangers ball tracks is by far the best one.and i would also like to say f*** you to bodom fan.bullet for my valentineis an awesome band.the only track i think does not belong with the rest of these bad a$$ songs is the fa**oty underoath s***!

14. writes:
Underoath is actually 'christian' metal.
They ARE metal.
They're metalcore.
I Love Bullet For My Valentine...but they have WAY better songs than that one to be in the cd.
Disc Two i think is the best one..
Because disc one has:
H.I.M (they suck. the end)
Korn (their new sh** sucks.)
Avenged Sevenfold (their new sh** sucks..vocally anyways)
I believe a lot of these bands have some emo in it.
But is what i would call good emo.

Why did the Mudvayne song have to be Forget to Remember, I love Mudvayne but Forget To Remember is one of the least heaviest songs on Lost And Found. They could've used Determined instead. And meh, Gaurded by Disturbed does sound the same as Stricken because everyone of their f***ing songs sounds the same! The CD looks pretty good though.

B-rad i agree with you, determined is a hell of a lot better

28. writes:
this cd is garbage just another cash grab from roadrunner...who cares for nu-metal (is pure crap) or metal-core (this was good genre but now is overloaded with generic trihards that sound the same)
the only tracks worth down loading (and/or burning):
Hatebreed - To The Threshold
Lamb Of God - Now You’ve Got Something To Die For
Black Label Society - In This River
In Flames - Take This Life
Iron Maiden - The Trooper (live)
Arch Enemy - Nemesis
Bloodsimple - Sell Me Out

29. writes:
uhh him fan, yes they do. the people hate Ville so much that they spiked his drink in a bar and while he was unconcious stole everything he had with him, except his clothes. but they did take his jacket, his wallet his "fags" and some other stuff.
so yeah, HIM SUCK

31. writes:
I f***in totally agree with meh cuz HIM f***in sucks dude! still, slipknot's new sh** is ok but the older is better... Also, the In Flames band is back on this compilation, what a complete album. It is sure that I will get to the stores just to buy this new sh**, no question, man!!!!!

33. writes:
I have to agree with War Ensemble! Those are probably the most best songs on the CD's and I already own them all. I think that Arch Enemy is really underrated. The guitarists are some of the best that I've heard. I give them props even though the singing isn't that great. BUT, the singing is unique and different. Better then there first singer.

38. writes:
I shall add my two cents on this, being a avid collector of sub-par to good metal compilations.
Slipknot, being metal juggurnauts, and well the face of roadrunner records, is obviously going to be on here, like it or not. I dont for the record.
Korn - It was obviously either going to be them, or system of a down. I will program my cd player to skip track 1 and 2.
Iron Maiden - Its good to see they at least payed some respect to some of the founders of metal. No one can argue that.
Hatebreed - Jamey Jasta annoys the f*** out of me, he tries so hard to be the face of MTV, and not the face is his band. Its sickening.
Mudvayne - Well obviously I am a fan of them. And this is one of their better "rock-ish" songs off the new album. As a metal fan I still respect good rock (IE Shinedown)
A7X - They blew in the day, they blow now, only in a more radio friendly way.
HIM - Is this a f***ing joke ? HIM ? I got a better acronym for this track F U MTV.
Trivium - THE BEST SONG ON CD 1. I cant get enough of Trivium, and to think they are all younger then 23 only means good things for this bands future.
LOG - THE BEST BAND ON EITHER CD. LOG rocks, they are the face of what destroyed nu-metal, and now control the new wave of american heavy metal.
10 Years- This is a really good rock song, with a metalish alternative like edge. I really like it.
Disturbed - Another song that sounds like the last 13 they released. Yawn
As I Lay Dying - Awesome metalcore act. Absolutly Love them.
Lacuna Coil - Lets just hope they dont turn into another Evanescense.
Underoath - HAHA what a joke, how much did they pay roadrunner to be on this album ? They blow With their untalented emo-coreish act. And they suck live.
Mastodon - Awesome act. Much respect.
KSE - Great band with lots of talent and a good following.
BLS - See Iron Maiden, but with less feeling.
In Flames - Awesome they would put a band on here thats been busting their a$$ since before members of slipknot was 10.
CD 2
Chimaira - Awesome band, SEE LOG for better analogy
Bullet for my Valentine - See Underoath.
Arch Enemy - A Band I personally cannot stand. But they put on a good show, and have a loyal fan base, much respect.
IT Dies Today - Which their band would Die Today.
Opeth - See Mastodon
Norma Jean - I dont like them much, but others do, good mix of metal sub genres by adding them.
Devildriver - My second favorite band, and if u havent checked out their latest effort, The Fury of Our Makers Hand, then youve yet to hear what the next 10 years of metal will sound like.
Still Remains - A boring act that sound like alot of other bands out right now.
God Forbid - The hardest working, most unrespected band in the industry, Much love.
Throwdown - Talented hardcore-ish band. Love them
From First To Last - WHO ?
36 Crazyfists - At the End of August was an awesome song, the rest of the cd blew, lets hope their new album is better.
Dragonfoce - Again adding a good mix of subgenred metal.
A Life Once Lost - With a different kind of sound in vocals, they are a good addition.
High on Fire - Eh.
Bloodsimple - Love them. Old boys of VIsion of Disorder with a good rock/metal act.
Haste The Day - See High On Fire.
Walls of Jericho - See Dragonfoce
Kingdom of Sorrow - Because Jamey Jasta is in this band, they make an appearence here, my cd #2 will end at track 18 everytime. F - This Band.

so yeah..HIM is horsesh**...so thats that

43. writes:
i've been reading some of these. and i have to agree with some people. where the f*** is all the good sh**?MTV should stop f***ing around and put some real metal for the masses on the c.d.i mean where is children of bodom, himsa, and dimmu borgir.still some songs on here are worth listening.and i take back what i said before in the recent message i posted, this is not the best compilation of headbangers ball.volume two is because it has deicide.and those guys rock!!!!!

Yeah, Disturbed isn't metal, and Korn isn't metal, anymore. People keep asking why people are dissing Disturbed. I'll tell you why, Disturbed are being classed as metal when they are clearly not, and that pisses off all of the metal heads, and I don't blame them for being p***ed off. Even though I kind of like Korn and Disturbed, Korn are still nu metal but not as much and Disturbed are just not metal.

Holy crap you hate alot of bands. And Mudvayne aren't Nu Metal, they count as Alternative Metal. And Disturbed aren't Nu Metal either, so basically anything you hate you'll just call Nu Metal cause you can't think of a good reason to hate it. You hated 31 out of 38 songs, and a bunch of the stuff you called Emo wasn't even Emo. Like Kill Switch Engage isn't Emo.

Nu metal (also called aggro metal or nü-metal, using the traditional heavy metal umlaut) is a musical genre that has origins in the mid 1990s. It typically fuses influences from the grunge and alternative metal of the early 1990s with hip hop, electronic music, thrash metal and death metal amongst other metal genres. The popularity and perceived vast commercialization [1] of such music in the late 1990s and early 2000s led to widespread negative associations with the term nu metal, which in turn led to many fans and artists rejecting it...
and god damn how it sucks

I guess that makes sense. Mudvayne are Nu Metal, in a way, because L.D. 50 was kind of electronic/techno-ish, but also was their heaviest CD. But I still don't really think of them as Nu Metal, if any one of their CDs was nu metal it would be L.D. 50, but there's nothing nu metal about The End Of All Things To Come and Lost And Found.
