Disturbed Frontman Confirms Ozzfest 2006 Appearance

Disturbed frontman, David Draiman confirmed his band will tour the Ozzfest circuit this summer.
Draiman revealed his forthcoming tour schedule to a Seattle Radio on January 7. The pierced singer stated, ""It looks like at this point that we are confirmed for Ozzfest this summer, so that should be a good thing. It's looking like that's gonna happen, so…"
Disturbed last played Ozzfest in 2003 on the main stage with Ozzy Osbourne, Korn, Marilyn Manson, and Chevelle.
As previously reported, Black Label Society has also been confirmed for the Ozzfest 2006. Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold have been offered spots on the tour, but not publically committed either way.

I hear ya. I mean, the fest overall could still be good, but it's not an ideal set of bands to announce first for many metal fans, I think. I wouldn't mind seeing all those bands on the bill as long as they are balance by some really good agressive, fast, heavy bands.

Ok. 1st things 1st. There was Atreyu and I commented. Then there was A7x then i commented on that. NOW this sh** has gotta come to light. I don't know who or what is promoting this thing but they really aren't getting bands that the fans want. The more bands they add the more it is sounding like Lalapolooza tour all over again. All they need to do is add an act like Chemical Brothers or Crystal Method then they would be set. I think what they are trying to do is to appeal to the 20 something crowds who call themselves punk/hardcore because they listen to Green Day. The only thing we can hope for is that SoTu will be as good as last year because Ozzfest will be your Vans warped tour x2.That is why real metal will always stay underground because they will never get recognized as good music not even by a legend like Ozzy.The problem is they will sellout shows and it will make Ozzfest next year with even worse with bands like MCR,Fall out boy,The Used,Taking back Sunday,Hawthorne Heights,Silverstein,Something Corporate. Hellfest should tought us all a lesson that people in the "real" world look at our music and think that it is satanic and we are going to hell for listening to it. But what they don't know is if everyone stuck with conformity this planet would be no fun to live on.That is why you need to go support your local bands. Even the national bands when they come to a town near you. If we don't we will one day lose metal and have to deal with this emo sh** because it WILL take over. ok, ozzfest so far looks like sh**. i mean, if at least atreyu and A7X would've confirmed it would be ok but i guess they realized its gonna be a bust this year anyways. they need to get some bands like slayer and lamb of god on the main stage to headline, then fill up the second stage with bands like bleeding through, unearth, trivium...that kinda stuff. and tell you the truth, i wouldnt mind seeing mudvayne and slipknot again. and even though they will never make it on there again, i'd just like to say that linkin park isnt that bad. yea, b**** me out now, i dont care.

Didn't he also blast the hard metal acts and their style of vocals? I say they put Disturbed on right after Chimaira (not invited to this point) , so Disturbed can have a looksee at some of those "weird-vocals", haha.
Also the first stage at Ozzfest is usually pretty trendy and crappy, so what do you expect? The second stage is usually where it's at as far as I'm concerned.

I mean, I like BLS...but I've seen 'em almost ten times already (mostly on the Ozzfest). Have some vision Sharon...step out on a limb and take a chance on some bands out of the mainstream.

I agree with you Graveland, you're all complaining about how much the show will suck, if you don't want to hear it than just don't go, it's easy not to go somewhere. I wouldn't mind going if Mudvayne or System Of A Down came back. But System Of A Down went way back in 1998 or 1999, and haven't gone since, I think.

f*** all these shows. I'm going to see Emperor in New York on July 13 & 14, and the Metal Crusaders Tour this summer with Graveworm. Ozzfest sucks anymore, and the way its looking, SotU2 is looking horrible too. Where's metal going these days? Hopefully Gigantour comes back this year with a kickass lineup.

ozzfest has su cked for awhile, sounds was good but those bands werent really underground. most of them were hardcore bands or rather popular "underground" acts. there was some really good metal acts like STL and Gwar, Lamb of God was good. it was good and i would consider going again if they would book more bands then hardcore bands. but whatever this is america metal is "coming back" ha europe has such a better talented music scene. oh well. but ozzfest sucks like usual.

I'm extremely happy that Sounds of the Underground's and Gigantour's first runs were last summer. They came in at just the right time; Ozzfest is dying out, and the other two tours should be even better/more smoothly run this summer around. I'll bet anything that the ticket prices at Ozzfest will go up another 20 f***ing dollars. In '04 lawn tickets were $30. In '05, lawn tickets were $50. It's not f***ing worth it. That's not a true metal show.

Here are some bands that need to be placed on Ozzfest....or brought back to Ozzfest for it to regain it's greatness.
InFlames(with a LONGER headlining spot) Soilwork, The Shape of Despair, Deadlock, Nile, SYL, COB, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, ,dark Tranquility, Dillenger Escape Plan,(practically ANY band that has true musical talent along with grisly intensity) and as for the singing headliners to make the hair metal fans wet themselves.....kamelot/ Dream Theater (they can be VERY heavy), or Priest.
Right now though, it all seems to be going to sh**. Look out for Ozzfest this year

Disturbed has now been there 4 times. System of a Down has been there 3. I don't want to see either of them there. Slayer, Machine Head, and Killswitch Engage are all putting out albums soon. I'd like to see them take the main stage this year. Other bands who have recently put out discs are Sevendust, Byzantine, God Forbid, and DevilDriver.
There will be commercial bands on this tour, they play arena type settings, they need to fill the seats, it's inevitable, so that's why they have offered spots to Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold. Atreyu isn't that bad, Ozzfest has been worse in the past.
Lastly, the second stage generally have heavier bands, and that's where you can get close anyway.

i think 2004 was the best ozzfest in my opinion and i have been to 3 of them 2005 was good to but 2001 to 2003 was nu metals reign so ozzfest sucked ass. I went in 2003 and it was horrible especially the main stage. the only bands i thought that were worth anything that year was shadows fall, killswitch engage, and chimaira. 2004 was my favorite though and from the looks of it I probably won't go this year unless we get a way better line up ahead. And what the f*** is up with that ozzfest dvd that is horrible besides anthrax but that is probably what ozzfest is gonna start being like. they will start having line ups that were on that dvd.

Prehaps you should open you mind and ears and take a closer listen. I recommend Death, Cynic, Atheist and Necrophagist. Don't get so hung up on it just because Cannibal Corpse have stupid lyrics.
I think System Of A Down are a good band, the biggest draw-card for me is the harmonised vocals and song structures, its pretty interesting.

You know ive seen Disturbed,slayer and SOAD all at Ozzfest. Atrey and A7X as well..I care not to see them agian. It would be sweet now to see NIN, Dream Theater, Lamb of God. The main problem with new metal bands is they are all influncend by and have certain aspects from hardcore which seperates them from metal. I mean, we all hear them wank on about loving Slayer and co., but do we ever hear anything apart from a little watered down influence?
For me, In Flames are a good example of metal ruined by hardcore.

Yes, I actually enjoy some the of hardcore-emo/screamo bands (as i lay dying, it dies today, bullet for my valentine,etc.) They have modernized metal in way that it still plays homage to classic acts as well as evolved the screaming so much more. I'm really not into the love lost lyrics though. Kind of lame. Besides that i wouldn't mind seeing a few of them on ozzfest appealing to a larger audience demographic. However, I stand next to my original claim that EMO (not hardcore/emo) flat out blows. Bands like my chemical romance, saves the day, taking back sunday, hawthorne heights have no place in the ozzfest circuit this summer, and never will.

I don't care very much for Disturbed. We need some awesome bands to play, though, like Dimmu Borgir and OTEP! Otep just came out with another CD, they need to come back and promote it! Other bands I would prefer, though, would be like Godhead, Spineshank, Borknagar, Devildriver, Meshuggah, In Flames, and probably a lot more.
I hope this Ozzfest is awesome.

Not big on disturbed their music is kind boring and most of it sounds the same.

I hope u guys know that once u leave one big tour such as OZZFEST and go for a more cheaper and/or suitable tour such as SOUNDS OF THE UNDERGROUND, then that tour will also explode into something that u guys really hate. And that's the introduction of heavy mainstream bands. I'm telling ya, it's gonna be an ongoing process that will never stop. So just remember, that while u think u guys r safe from "MAINSTREAM" hard rock, u r really never safe from it b/c it's always gonna be around, as long as ppl keep pouring money into it. That's just how it is, that's mainstream for ya. U just can't stop it.
