KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has hit back at departed guitarist Brian "Head" Welch over his assertions that the only thing the members of the band care about is money.
"All they care about is money? What the fuck?! I don't understand what he's on about," Davis tells the Swedish magazine Close-Up. "All HE cared about was money and all he does is still care about the money. He's got his solo career, he's going and doing all this, but oh, it's not for the money. Christians are the biggest fucking con artists in the world and he's still gonna make money off that. I don't understand… The only true way he can do that is to become a fucking monk! There you go, that's a sacrifice for God. Give up everything and go, if that's what you want. It's bullshit. If he wants to go save kids in India, that's amazing. That's a noble fucking cause, that's cool. Do your thing. The only problem I do have with him is that he’s got this Jesus complex. You can tell by the way he's got his fucking hair, Messiah down his neck, him with the kids in India trying to be holier than thou now, that he thinks he's Christ. It's kinda crazy, kinda cuckoo and it kinda weirds me out."

"Yeah. I just said what was on my mind: 'What the fuck are you doing?' 'Dude, don't talk to me, talk to God. God is the one telling me to do this.' I'm like, 'Okay… Well, God told me you're crazy!' [laughs] You can't argue with religion, no one wins. I just let him do his thing. If that's what he wants, do it, dude. No hard feelings. If he came up to me again I'd give him a hug and say, 'How are you doing?’ But it's just not possible, because every time I've tried to have conversations with him, it just goes to God. I don't wanna talk about religion, it's not my thing. He can't respect that so…"

As an uninvolved Catholic, I myself became disinterested for a great many reasons. For one thing, I just got bored with it, but the main reason I severed ties with my church is because of the religions problem with people outside the faith, and rampant hypocirsy both in the doctrine and within many of the people.
I applaud anyone who is a part of a faith oriented community and doing some legitimate good, but so much of the religion is about condemning non-members, minorities, and the secular world for being what it is (I once read a chruch sign with that said "Reason is the enemy of the church"....yikes...) that I'd rather not give something so club-like another shot.
And I don't blame John Davis for doing the same.

I gave him copies of a series that I put together entitled Gehenna (which is up to XVII now). I was on XIV before meeting him and from those he suggested other bands with some similar sounds he thought I would like. It started with Thursday and well my horizon were broaden. So pretty much my collection crosses genres like you cross t's. I love Prince also. He's like my favorite artist of all time. It was his merging genres (that was really the start of alternative) that got me to listen to heavier sounds. And for those of you that don't think he's a guitar-god listen to "3 Chains o' Gold" from the Prince & the NPG 1992 CD entitled O(+>; among countless others. From there I have gotten into KORN, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Disturbed, Chimaira, Sevendust, Nonpoint, Fear Factory, Machine Head, Dope, Kittie, Orgy, Biohazard, Metallica, Deftones, One Minute Silence, Soulfly and so many more bands it would take an array of time to type them all. However, before any of you say it. I KNOW I'M GAY, i.e. BI TO BE EXACT!!! and I love you for caring.

WELL, i've got it. The new album, the one with the 20 songs. You know what? i like it. I was prepared for the worst, but i honestly like it. I think its the best effort they have put forth at least since issues, maybe even as far back as peachy. Metal elitists will probably still complain that it is mainstream, and cite the inclusion of non-metal producers to the mix as a travesty, but what they came out with is a heavilly layered goth-industrial mix that actually doesnt suck. Its like Untouchables with better writing, better lyrics, and some old school korn bagpipes and scatting mixed into a morbid industrial thread. There is VERY little hip-hop influence here, so much so that Fieldy is really a background bit player, but it does lend itself to a more straight up, cleaner metal sound at times, but to say that overall this album distances itself apart from the others is an understatement, but in a way that i think really works for them. If they play this right, they may even matter on the big stage again, as its been a while since they had something original to say, and now that they have it, lets hope people give them a chance. Oh, and Head gets tore up on one of the better songs of the album, "Liar", which is also, bad for him, probably gonna be one of the songs that gets big, as its one of the most successful songs at displaying the new sound with a lot of well placed breaths of the old school sound (that for once don't feel forced). This is, as a warning, going to be an album that requires muliple listens, as it is dense, but i will go on record as saying that so far i like it better initially than the last couple (Untouchables and TALITM) which got boring fast, and it seems to have stronger legs to carry it than FTL and Issues. Twisted Transistor is by far the poppiest song on the album, but dont let it fool you, not only does it sound better on the album with a much cooler intro that the commercial cut, the album as a whole is actually less commercial sounding than they have sounded since they actually were underground. The songs are longer, the guitars are actually interesting (as a guitar player myself i realize how simple they can be, this is a step up), and it is dense in a way that most songs wont appeal to the aweful standards by which singles are picked these days. The closest thing to "nu-metal" i have listened to in a while is the Deftones (whom i adore and cringe at calling "nu-metal"), as otherwise i find the genre bland and cliched, as Cold, disturbed, godsmack, Breaking benjamin, trapt, Linkin Park, they all suck, and they all are whats wrong with the radio (that and Emo). But this album could in reality be Korn's "White Pony" (as opposed to the St. Anger" everybody thought it was gonna be, sorry Metallica, still love ya, but you know what you did), and a reason to listen to them again. I know this was long, and i am not here to bash anybody, so please dont bash me for speaking my opinion. In summery, i liked this album. i think i will end up liking it a lot once i give it a few listens and let it sink in. (i also think that the video they came out with is really funny, some kid was playing it on a pc in my art class, the class was crackin up, but for all you rap haters, that is the most rap you see on the whole album, and i say "see" since its only visually in the video, and not in the audio whatsoever). Give it a chance. really. its not bad at all. i think its "good" right now, with the possibility of being "great" once i let it sink in a little bit.

In most cases once I've bought the CD from an artist I don't care what they add extra later. Because personally I think the best way to do business is "give the ones (TRUE FANS) who buys it on the day of release or within the first week the bonus $hit. There are few exceptions like the first Shinedown CD "Leave a Whisper" eventually I gave in and re-purchased it for the extra $hit later added.
Oh and "the hair in the @$$ thought it was funny to take the bare head" was merely a play on words to discribe the cover art work on the CD.

Well, alright, let's blame it on the critics. KoRn have emerged into the world of metal (or nü-metal, depending on how you like to think about it) with great albums, they have flopped once with Issues and managed to make up for it with albums like Untouchables and Take A Look In The Mirror, which was considered by many to be the closest thing to Life Is Peachy, one of their greatest albums of all time. Then they released their Greatest Hits CD (oh, Vol. 1... which I now doubt there will be a second one), and it included most of their greatest hits (Thoughtless excepted) and a few crappy covers... but hey, you know, it happens.
But now, my friends, I think that's it for KoRn : they're definitely stuck in the s**thole for good. This album is the grossest attempt I have ever heard from KoRn... this is even worst than Limp Bizkit's Chocolate Starfish. The causes : well, ok, Head did leave the band, taking an important part of the authentic KoRn sound with him, so that might explain part of it, but honestly, I think it's the critics. For a while now, especially since they released Take A Look In The Mirror, a lot of people, even unloyal KoRn fans, have accused KoRn of not evolving, of keeping the same style and blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda. Way to go, look what you've done now! KoRn tried so hard to do something different that they ended up throwing away all the greatness that used to characterize their style and made it unique.
I still gave it a 1 star (and even if 0 was an option, I would've given it a 1) because there is a wicked song on that album, and a few "not bad" ones. Liar is amazing. Jon brings back the gibberish, lets out his intensity (not at its max, but it's better than nothing) for this one song that is the only element of redemption this album contains. A few others I can tolerate (Love Song, Coming Undone, Tearjerker). Oh yeah, Tearjerker I can also give a lot of credit too... pretty intense, an interesting initiative from KoRn... congrats. But honestly, download those 4 songs and nevermind the rest. Listening to this album from beginning to end was plain torture for me. I even gave it a second listen, and then a third one, but then I decided that I didn't want to be a martyr for the rest of my life. So here it is. I just want to spare you a waste of your precious time and money. I guess all great things come to an end. They did their time... Jon said it best. R.I.P. KoRn.
