Oceans Ate Alaska Premiere New Single & Music Video "Bring You Back" From Upcoming New Album "Purge"

Oceans Ate Alaska will release their first full-length album featuring vocalist Joel Heywood, “Purge,” on January 22nd. The record will also mark the metalcore outfit’s first entirely independent release. The band have now rolled out a new single, “Bring You Back,” accompanied by a music video directed by Shaun Hodson (Sleep Token, Cradle Of Filth).

Heywood drew inspiration for the track from the debilitating prenatal and postnatal depression his wife endured, explaining:

“She was at the lowest point I’d ever seen her in my life and all I wanted to do was save her. No matter how much love and care or attention to her issues I gave, it’s chemical, and nothing I could do would help her to come back to who she was. For her it just felt endless.”

Discussing the concept behind the accompanying video, Heywood added: “It’s an over the top version of events of her becoming a ‘ghost of herself,’ a ghost of the person she once was and I felt powerless no matter how much I tried.”

“Purge” delves into various aspects of trauma and mental health struggles. As Heywood explained, “‘Purge‘ came from wanting to finally get this all out of me, to let it bleed from me onto the songs and into the pages of the lyrics, and to try to start to feel free of things I’ve held inside for so long.”

“Purge” track list:
