Heartsick Join Forces With Sapphire Noel for “My Funeral” Video
Band Photo: Snot (?)

‘Darknucore’ outfit Heartsick confront themes of suicidal ideation and self-love on their new single “My Funeral.” The band collaborated with Sapphire Noel on both the track and its accompanying music video, with frontman Alfonso Civile once again taking on directorial duties for the visual component.
Speaking about the song and working with Noel again, Civile said:
“‘My Funeral‘” came from the writing sessions with Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, King 810) where the band really wanted to explore another duet with Sapphire like we had done prior with our song Sadness.
This time however, I wanted to take a step back lyrically and let Sapphire really steer the song where she envisioned lyrically. It was also an exercise on my part of letting go of the wheel and letting someone else’s vision that is close to the band (Heartsick bassist Waylon Fox and Sapphire are engaged) roam free and see what our music speaks to them.
All the lyrics were written by Sapphire with a little help from myself and our producer Josh. Which was also interesting because Sapphire had never written lyrics to a song before so it was this fun process of helping build this thing from a new perspective.”
