Katatonia, the Swedish progressive rock veterans, have unveiled their cover of the 1981 KISS track “A World Without Heroes.” Frontman Jonas Renkse revealed that the song was originally recorded during the sessions for their latest album, “Nightmares As Extensions Of The Waking State,” which was released this past June.

Following the recent passing of former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, Renkse noted that the track has taken on a deeper emotional resonance for the band. Renkse elaborated:

“A final single from the ’Nightmares…’ session, a cover of KISS’ ’A World Without Heroes’ which is one of the songs we usually listen to in the dressing room before going on stage. For us, it now also serves as a memory of Ace Frehley’s legacy. Nico’s rendition of his solo is nothing short of amazing! Also, this release includes Karin Park’s outstanding remix of ’Wind of No Change’. Enjoy, and come see us in Europe this fall/winter!”

Both Katatonia’s cover of “A World Without Heroes” and the Karin Park (of Årabrot) remix of “Wind Of No Change” are now available for streaming above.

The band have a packed touring schedule in the months ahead, kicking things off with a European and UK run taking place this month:
