Korns New Video To Have 4 Rappers In It?

Band Photo: Korn (?)
KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has told Billboard.com that the group's video for their new single, "Twisted Transistor", finds Lil' Jon, Xzibit, Snoop Dogg and David Banner stepping into the roles of Davis, bassist Fieldy, guitarist Munky and drummer David Silveria, respectively.
Although Davis declined to reveal specifics, he confirmed KORN appears "somewhere" in the video and that the rap stars will be seen playing instruments, since "they're in our world. Just getting four rappers in the same place is near fucking impossible, but we pulled it off."
Davis said that in addition to the standard-length clip, there will also be a seven or eight-minute mini-movie version. "It's so amazing," he enthused. "It's one of the coolest things I've ever seen."
As previously reported, "Twisted Transistor" is drawn from KORN's upcoming Virgin debut, "See You on the Other Side", due Dec. 6. Davis said the group recorded 12 songs with hitmaking production team the Matrix and another eight with producer Atticus Ross.
"The regular version of the album will have 14 songs, and there'll be a special edition which has 17," Davis told Billboard.com. "The whole record in its entirety is so different. There are some straight-ahead, heavy rock tunes, but they're a different kind of heavy. It's like we have this industrial bastard child that flailed its head out of us."
KORN are expected to launch a full North American tour in March or April.

hell,i agree,i think the all the nu metal mainstreamers need their own damn genre so they wont disgrace the name of metal by calling these horrid bands metal, thats just embarrassing to anyone into the underground, and now korn is just gonna make sh** worse with this, how anyone can dare to defend them now is beyond me

I dont go on emotional rants often, ussually i'm just wordy, but this HAS to be said.
This is an odd turn of events.......Korn are on a bullet train to bullsh**. There is ---NOTHING--- metal about their new single....That song CAN NOT be defended in any way.
"Word up" and "Twisted Transistor" are total hog-sh**, if you like those songs, and don't hear the difference in quality from their earlier material....."THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU".
There has been a tremendous decline in Korns creative output....With commercial success that happens, but this goes beyond sucking, this is f***ing treason.
If Korn can't put out songs as good as or better than "Did My Time" (the only truely good song off the last record), "Blind", "Daddy", "Chi", "Ball Tongue", "Hollow Life", "Faget", "Mr Rogers" "It's On", "Clown" etc... What is the point in listening?
This isn't an attack on Korn fans but I don't know how you can actually enjoy their first few records and the last lingering bit of quality songs from their last few cds.....and then enjoy "Twisted Transistor" and "Word Up"............ They are PURE POP!!!!!!............... The "very" thing this band once stood against.
It's a f***ing cop-out this is music that not so long ago would have disgusted every member of Korn to be a part of.
I hate to say this but Korn are dead in my book....I dont even want to know what the rest of the album sounds like, the thought of it is too horrible to comtemplate.
You Korn fans can have your sh**ty "Otherside" album, because if you have half a brain or one shred of good taste you would feel betrayed by Korn.

ok dude listen yes im talking to remember metal only cause the rest of you have no idea abt wat ur going on abt u just yap on. anyways dude honestly korn is experimentin g thats all there is to it, nothing like a big step ill admit the last album was a breath of fresh air for me to actually hearing some decent riffs for a change yeah but dude its all experiment but that doesnt mean u forget wat theyve done. think about it all bands should make music for themselves. one of the reasons why i love opeth is because they do it for themselves nothing more they like having appreciation but there music is very sacred to them. dont get me wrong im not comparing the 2 but this song cant signify wats to come. yeah the new album is looking like nothing spectacular but ill still buy it there must be something special oh n the rap thing i dunno about u but i think its great honestly all these rappers are gonna dress up like them and u can call them sell outs or watever but its pretty obvious that its all in good fun plus dude honestly they got 4 of the best rappers today in a rock video which is close to impossible and now u tell me is that rock n roll or wat

how you can see a difference in any rappers stuff i just cant understand, and having artists from an enemy genre is about as un-metal as it gets, just because you're a mainstreamer who just drools over the thought of this genre blending garbage(like rap-metal,definitly the worst genre EVER)doesnt mean its any good,"experimenting",i dont f***in think so,i'd call it becoming a sellout to make more money and in the process putting out material thats totally talentless because you just know the mainstreamers will eat it up

You know, being young even this angers me, I can only imagine how old school rockers and metalers feel, There should be no f***ing rappers in a rock/Metal video, rock and metal isnt suppoused to be completly mainstream, sure there are some mainstream rock and metal that is an exception but Korn are just taking it too far, it seems like they want more people to hate them along with wanting more money, I have nothing against Korn or their fans, im not a fan myself but I can see when a band are just being lazy and cant be bothered to make new fans threw good music, they make fans threw famous faces, thats not whats Rock and Metals about.

How does this fit in with Korn shooting "the most insane video" as suggested in an article a couple days ago? If by insane you mean, sacrificing much of your nu-metal following, I guess so. I would say commercial suicide, but this stunt might actually get them more commercial success despite how retarded it is. I actually liked the first two albums a lot, but the third came out with too much rap and rap guests and I was turned off, and this sounds like it's going to be a continuation of that one. Countdown to Korn getting dropped from the discussions... Are you looking forward to it or will it be too boring?

20. writes:
well mr.key ur proven wrong cause all the so called "mainstreamers" are dissing the whole concept so no they didnt make it for mainstreamers to eat up cause as u can see they all hate the idea already but the video concept is something non of u "metal is dead" d***s will understand as in its beyond the capacity of ur brain. plus i dont drool over rap metal idiot and don't call me a mainstreamer just because my life doesnt revolve around getting up everyday in the morning to diss out korn. mainstream is just a perception anyway made by ppl who have no outlook on life just ppl. f*** u for judging me. n let me clear somethign out to all u asswipes who dont get it the big deal is korn is having a bunch of rappers act like them in there video get it. there not rapping there just in the video acting like korn. its a joke only korn fans willl understand when they see the video. n its not selling out if anything its called promotion and yes when u promote YOUR OWN MUSIC its not called selling outs a$$ wipe. all u stupid little idiots just hear a word and start using it like its represents u or something. lifeless losers

Ok..I am a huge KoRn fan(mostly Life Is Peachy and their self-titled album), but....this is ridiculous.(however you spell it...) I'm kinda in a rage right now..what's up with all the rappers? I mean..I could TOLERATE Children of the Korn, but the rest of it I just skip over;but a video including 4 rappers? And they claim to be heavy metal still...but I mean...jeez Jon, what's up with the rap? I don't listen to rap, and if they are having all these rappers on their new single, I hate to think what the other songs are going to sound like; makes me mad and disappointed. As much as I hate to admit it, I agree that they have gone downhill, but this is going at the bottom of the list.

you know what the real IRONY of the whole situation is? KoRn have moved on from this very debate that you fans and haters are still stuck in. KoRn dont make music because they wanna be seen as hardcore. they never have. KoRn dont make music that the 'mainstream' taste will enjoy because they'll make a profit. they never have. KoRn just do whatever the f*** they want to, and f*** whoever isnt down with that life philosophy. you people need to move on.

Read this. Its from VH1's website.
When it came time to cast the video, Korn went with those who knew them best. Lil Jon produced a Public Enemy cover the band recorded last year, Snoop has toured with Korn a few times and shares their management, and Xzibit shares an accountant with some of the guys. As for Banner: "He plays the drums great," Davis said.
The rappers all knew each other as well, which created a surprising chemistry when they took the stage to pretend to play "Twisted Transistor."
"It might be a band coming towards you," Banner joked about actually forming an all-star group. "So y'all can bring us out on tour, hint, hint. Give us some of that Korn money."
y'all can bring us out on tour, hint, hint. Give us some of that Korn money."

psythe got it dead right and its not lack of skill thats your perception. its a joke thats it it will make ppl laugh they just got all there friends together to make a video end of story and that money thing obviously there rappers wat do u expect. and i dear say the fact that all these korn fans are saying wat they r is proof that they are not selling out

i have to admit, Twisted Transistor is one of the worst f***ing songs i have ever heard. Its complete mainstream bullsh**. I used to love korn. i love every other song on all the cds they have put out so far except "Word Up" and this new sh** "Twisted Transistor". I heard a live version of "Hypocrites" and it dosnt sound to bad, but then i thought the same when i heard "Twisted Transistor" live, and look how that turned out. Man, i really hope korn hasnt ruined themselves, they used to be a good band, but if this is how this new sh** is going to be then that f***ing blows. Eh, oh well, im gunna go get really f***ing stoned and forget about it.

41. writes:
i think korn did that because rap is 'in fashion' at the moment, (i personally don't know why people like rap at all!) and they decided to gather a bunch of rap fans in turn and have a go at making more money and going commercial and mainstream. anyway i really don't care a lot about korn as i never liked them but i hate seeing a 'metal' band teaming up with rappers or popstars whatever.

42. writes:
dude f*** u as far as i know u could have put all those posts up there yeah the time makes it obvious but i stand by wat i said even iff htese ppl r real then it proves that korn dont care n they r not sell outs which if they were u wouldnt be hearing so many protests

I was content to let Korn just putter along and make sh**ty album after sh**ty album from Follow the Leader on and keep my opinion to myself...but then "Twisted Transistor", and "Word Up" come along....
It's not just cashing in on the popular rappers for a publicity facelift, ITS THE f***ING MUSIC!!!!....
Sure, the lyrics were sh**ty, but was this not the band that put out "Y'all wanna Single"....a direct attack on the pop song?!?!?
Never before has something from Korn been so pop-friendly, non-threatening and more or less . This is a deliberate attempt at pop-radio exposure....They want to be on the "Now Thats what I Call Music 23" cd. I challenge anyone to deny that this is full-blown selling out.....
Korn had my respect for at least "trying" over these last few records, even if they didnt have my devoted fan status, they lost that with Follow the Leader....But at least it still sounded like Korn.
The new single is garbage.....Garbage I will go out of my way to avoid, If I'm in a bar and this song comes on, I'm leaving....If this song comes on while i'm driving on the interstate, I will throw my car into the nearest guard rail, and if any of my friends pick up this new disk, they had better hide from me.

55. writes:
They should have went back to Ross Robinson.....he knew how to bring out the best in them. Their best work was directed by him.....self-titled Korn and Life Is Peachy. I mean, even if they have nothing to rage about anymore....at least they could have kept the sound and intensity of their music. That's what attracted their fans to them in the first place. Why they are throwing it all away I don't know. Another thing...you know who brought them down too...is Limp Bizqit...man they are the ones who were really labeled as rap-metal. When Korn first came in with their new sound it was labeled as nu-metal but when thay got together with Limp they were given the rap-metal label and became a joke just like Fred Durst.

Much better post satti, thanks!
I'm not holding anything against Korn for making money on any of their material leading up to now, I'm disgusted with Korn for going in an overtly pop (not industrial) direction. The new song is as bad or worse than anything put out by a pop-star....It also has no root in anything Korn have ever had to say before ("Word up" was just as bad, only it was a cover).
If "Twisted Transistor" in anyway reflects the direction of the new album is has to be Korns most terrible record to date.

I didn't see one post from that punk a$$ b**** KornKid. Where you at now punk? Probably getting up to date on all the latest rap crap so he can get familiar with that bullsh**. Or better yet writing on Snoop's blog about Korn.. f*** him and f*** Korn and anyone else who likes them.

yeah i agree with that remember metal its the sell out thing that i disagree with other wise the new song i'll admit is in a popish direction but i think the rest of the album is heavier i'm not surre i heared one of the songs Hypocrite (live) it was very bad quality but it wasn't like this one. i personally don't hate the new song but yeah it is pretty much pop can't argue with that

And I'll just add an insult to an injury here, I actually liked the latest Limp Bizkit album! I know i know,
even I'm embarrassed to say it, but I'd say it's their best album. Well... lets hear what Korn will offer next. lets see if they've still got it (or should I say if they got it back), or not...

Hey there is nothing wrong with Limp Bizkit. I still listen to them. I don't know why everybody hates Fred Durst. It seems like once somebody else did all of the followers started hating as well. People should hate them for there own resons not just 'cause evryone else does. And Korn still does suck. Thats my opionion.

89. writes:
i think people are taking this video WAY too seriously. the actual reason that jon davis decided to go along with this idea is because hes p***ed that channels like mtv seem to ONLY play hip hop. so putting in the four rappers is supposed to be ironic really. i agree, this song is not great, but they are not TRYING to make it mainstream. they do whatever the f*** they want, and thats what i love about KoRn. plus, even KoRn would get old if they played the same sh** over and over again. keep in mind, this is the same band that made y'all wanna single, K*#$!, wake up hate, BBK, ADIDAS. they're music is all about f***ing rebelling and being yourself.

Obsess much? are you the "Clown" that Jon wrote about in their early years? did you get your face split and now you have a huge grudge? did Korn rape your mother or something? i mean, seriously, where does your psychosis come from? I hate country music, but nobody will find me on Kenny Chesney forums arguing with his fans about what a no-talent a$$ clown he is. Crunk Funk and that's about it.

so youre saying they arent quite rap and not quite metal...but something different? maybe original? if you hate korn, fine go ahead and hate. but in the end you just like being in the minority, feeling important by being on the outside. and not that this is place for it, but putting eminem in the same category as vanilla ice is just plain ignorant.

I do believe we have got Kmadd all riled up. He's even bringing up the classic line all racists use "but i've got black friends". LOL. this kid is a joke. So maybe i do have an appreciation of their music and culture, even if its not what i primarily listen to or epitomise. I like all kinds of rock and yes, even some, although not much, hip hop. I probably hate a lot of what you hate too, but i would rather not draw parralels between us becuase the more i may end up like you the closer i am to offing myself for the sake of decent rock fans everywhere. But to go around throwing references to black culture to defend you being an ignorant a$$hole does not stregnthen your argument nad only highlights mine. You know nothing about me, and i only comment about what you leave us. By the way you talk the only black friend you have is the corpse you have affectionatly named "Toby" thats swinging in your front lawn. dude ok i know for a fact that all those bands are better musicians but that in no f***ing way gives you the right to call korn posers wannabess wiggas or f***ing bad musicians. there f***ing simple in their song structure they change with every album an they are musically capable so don't gimme that everyday bull sh** that korn arn't very musically this and that please freak on a leash is beautifully composed and that song solly proves they are musicains and don't just make stupid riffs with funk effects, its more to it then that. black saabath opetha and bohemoth are all musically more talented but korn doesn't go in that direction. they play within their limits and get the most out of it. i don't know if they can play stufff to the calibre of that sh** maybe they can(although i seriously doubt it) but you never know. Dude bands set certain goals for themselves when they hit the music industry wether commercial or musical. i don't give a f*** about what you guys say korn make the music they wanna make if they wanted to amke death metal or thrah or watever they would not becaus ethye can't they don't want to. did any of you f***ers know that in this album they7 were gonna experiment with solos that f***ing p***ed me off you know why cause that simply isn't there thing they don't play solos not because they cant they just don't. they played this holloween show where they were dressed as 80's rockers. they were maing fun off hair bands so they played these weired a$$ solos and started randomnly tapping and what not but head and munky pulled it off meaning they can do it they just don't cause its not their thing.
you should really look at it from a logical perspective rather then assuming their sell outs because some jackass put those thoughts in your mind.

Man, this site is going down faster than Kmadd on Lord of Agony. In all honesty, Kmadd, i've beat up on you enough here, and in the end, its not gonna matter, cause you are still gonna post like you matter even a little bit. After spending a week or so on here as more than just a casual browser of the news, i have come to realize that this isnt the real metal community at all, just a few normal people that like a few bands big and small, and a larger group of inbred retards that have too much time on their hands and gums that dont stop flapping. Seriously, this stuff is almost as bad to read as anything you find on MTV message boards, and for those of you that keep it REAL DUMB on these boards, way to make a good example for all the metal fans out there, whom are already thought of in the same light as gangsta-rap fans, just with much fewer numbers. I've said my piece, and i only plan on posting again if it gets real dumb in here again, but i dont plan on checking this site as regularly as i used too. I feel dumber for even reading half of these posts, let alone "internet fight" with some of the worst offenders on here...

at the dates on a lot of those pix? Early 90's and so forth but look at korn now they look like
they can be extras in a Pretty Ricky video. Is thier any chance you have a seen a recent Satyricon
video? Or Enslaved's new video those bands and many others have taken the corpse paint off
years ago and furthermore have more talent musically than korn wishes they ever had. And
what about bands like Hate Eternal, Morbid Angel, Sepultura (old), bands that actually have leads
and harmonies in their guitarwork and actual drumming? Say what you want about me being a
poser i could care less. Anybody who listens to korn and nu-metal in general and yes you are
right that gayass mallgotth emo and sometimes straight edge ilk like MCR, HIM and now I
hate to say it Cradle Of Filth, Norma Jean, Zao and so forth really doesn't have any room to

The thing most of you, (not all, as there are a few people with open minds here), don't seem to realize is that the underground of metal, or really the underground of anything, is kept afloat by the money and fame of the mainstream. It is a necessary evil, or there would BE NO UNDERGROUND. "Little Johnny" is not born a metalhead, unless his dad's name is Ozzy Ozbourne. Little Johnny generally will be exposed to metal by first hearing mainstream radio rock. On that station, he may not know what he likes for a few years, and then he may finally hear something that starts to speak to him on more levels than he is used too, and for many people that something is a band like Korn. Granted they started off not being that first step into rock-hood, but they are most definatly that now, as will any talented underground band that gains momentum. But the point is that that kid who is into korn will start to want to learn about what inspired them, and they may pick up on Altern-ica next, followed by old school metallica, then old school thrash in general, motorhead, pantera, black sabbath, Led Zep, maybe even different stuff like Pink Floyde or George Thurgood. Or maybe different music types all together. BUT all this in turn leads to a curiousity as to what new is coming out that he isnt hearing about, which leads to a curiousity and more money going into the underground, and the cycle continues. By trashing every mainstream band that has a large following just becuase they dont conform to your niche little version of what "metal" should be, you are shooting yourself in the foot and giving more money away to the more popular music out there, just by scaring some kid off of listening to Korn or someone who is derivative of them. Without the Gateway drug, there is no habit.

Have you not read any of the posts directed towards you that contain more than three syllables? some of the stuff that has been said to you, an a lot of it by me, is stuff that if said in person would lead to an a$$ whupping. You havent been nice to quite a few people here, and in turn i have had fun ripping on you, its the circle of internet life. BUT you are missing the point. I berate you for being a callouse d*** towards the average poster on this sight. You may in fact listen to some good sh**, as I love sepultura, sabbath, some MA, and stuff of that ilk, i just dont feel the need to cram it down other people's throat, especially if perhaps they havent even gotten that far in terms of their metal progression, and maybe Korn is as far as they have got. There is NO point to being a metal elitest, as it is a small enough genre when taken as a whole, and chopping it up to your favorite metal niches only makes the fanbase smaller and more secluded. The more of these kids you scare off will probably turn to more accepting forms of music like rap and hip hop, or even country, cuase at least there there is a sense of brotherhood, even though much (althoguh not all) of the music is atrociouse.

162. writes:
Im not trashing evey mainstream band just the bones thugs and harmony of metal that's all
I actually one time liked Slipknot until that godawful Stonesour clove vol. 3 came out and I dont know
how you got into listening to metal but there are online magazines and fanzines that keep the underground
punk and metal scenes alive. A lot of bands have been playing for years without any help
from radio or any media play at all. Look at Mayhem do you see a video and yes they dont wear
any makeup just in case you want to throw in on how they looked in 1991 on headbangers ball?
No. Or some these powermetal bands that are touring here look at Dragonforce no deal, no radio
play but they just sold out a nightclub in NYC and i dont really care for a lot of powermetal but
look at that festival in Atlanta that thing has sold out for the past 5 years. Metal does'nt need
a band like korn or disturbed for any support. It was around years before them and I assure
you it will be around long after they finally give up on their pathetic career.

and yes, my spelling today has been aweful, but that is beside the point. The point is that you cant compete with me in a posting war, you arent smart enough and i'm not bored enough with my life to continue to do this with you, Kmadd. Your comebacks arent clever, and simply throwing out as many band names as you can that dont where goofy make-up isnt going to save you any face. I only mentioned Immortal becuase you had the gall to use them as an example of your "real metalness" when challenged to name a real metal band name. you cant deny that, all you can do is back pedal as fast as you can. I'll freely admit that i dont know as many underground metal bands as you, but i have heard most and even like a few, but the genre as a whole doesnt hold my interest enough that i cant listen to other stuff, be it more mainstream stuff like korn, and in all actuallity a lot of other music types. Hell, I think most of the rock on the radio is terrible, and a lot of it is Korn's direct influence, but that happens when you spearhead a genre, there will always be b,c,d, and e level bands that follow in your footsteps. Hell, what was the that huge act that STAYED as good after blowing up? Dont say slayer, becuase they got derivative as hell for a while. Megadeth never went as alternative as metallica did, they just ended up sucking even more. Even Pantera jumped the shark towards the end, except they had the forsight to break up completly before it became obviouse. (SJR and Damageplan both are proof that they wre past their best) In comparison to their primes, all the great acts have become lame in comparison, but thats because they themselves set the bar too high. The Stones, The remaining Beatles, Led Zep, Sabbath, Priest, Metallica, Nirvana, all were bands that burned real bright, some longer than others, and then either faded quickly or changed format to stay creative, even if the result wasnt as good as what started them.

Yeah, all your little metal mags are mostly owned by bigger corperations that are funded in large part by music cash cows. You are allowed to dislike WHOMEVER you like, even Korn, but the reason you are so easy to pick on, as are quite a few of the people like you, is that obviously are less interested in the bands you supposedly listen to and spen ALL your time on threads involving Korn or something Nu-Metal. Its funny, this obsession of yours. You spin your wheels constantly railing against stuff that you dont like, and yet all you can say in defense of the music you actually do is the band name and that they are more musically inclined that (x) mainstream band. If you actually spent more time on the threads concerning the bands you like, and logically discussed the merits of their music, this site would have less of a reason to keep reporting on Korn and these dumb threads would cease. Do you not see the connection? are you blind? you are such a puppet and you dont even know it...

Music Exposure rolls down hill. It all starts at the top and works its way down. Along the way, you may not like what the band leading the way is, BUT like it or not they are bringing interest to your art form in general, which leads to more fans of your nich bands in specific. You may think that it is your metal festivals that are keeping metal alive, and you arent completely wrong. They are necessary to maintain the fans base, BUT they dont necessarilly keep new fans coming in. There are exceptions to every rule, one such being that you are for once responding to criticism in a halfway intelligent manner, which i thought was above you. But to put it in drug terms, Heroin may be the most intense drug there is, and it most definatly becomes a lifestyle, but very few people start off with H, they break off a blunt and puff away. Metal is way smaller than it used to be, and there is an ebb and flow to everything, but its not gonna swing back if all you do is knock down everybodies gateway drug instead of telling them why your band is actually good. in a way that doesnt make me wanna say something bad about your choice in sexual preference.

You Korn fans can have your sh**ty "Otherside" album, because if you have half a brain or one shred of good taste you would feel betrayed by Korn.

to pick up an instrument? Or maybe have been a vocalist in punk and death metal bands? The

has called this band out. Track suits, bandannas, hats tilted to the side does not make you
a metal band and you can go on and call out some of the bands i listen to that's fine but korn
would wish they would have half the musical talent of Immortal esp the last cd they put out
before they broken up Sons Of Northren Darkness crushes anything that korn has ever put out.
And another band that kind of has a newer metal vibe Mesuggah runs circle around korn in terms
of musical ability. Like I said before this site is called metal underground and yes I agree with
some of you about getting rid of bands like the emo mallcore shiit too and perhaps some
of the mainstream acts as well but I hate to tell and looking at those recent photos of korn they
are neither.

Listen dude I’m going to say this once so listen up Korn’s music is not meant for complexity that’s the beauty of it. Ok maybe you've picked up an instrument but do you understand the basic principal of theory if you do then you would be able to acknowledge songs like freak on a leash. I am not saying their better then the other bands you have mentioned they don’t go in that direction. If they did and they sucked I’d agree with you then but they don’t make death metal. They’ve made songs that proved to me they understand guitar theory and I’ve seen head and munky on a few shows mocking hair bands and playing really fast solos. Point being why hate a band cause you want them to be something they don’t want to be?

And think about it....if a huge label offered millions to a underground band you think they would be like "no we arent mainstream losers" f*** no,. they would take that money just like any other band would. Korn has been putting out crap since "Issues", that's when I gave up on them. A few years ago they did a tour with Disturbed called "Pop Sux". What are they now???
