Angela Gossow, frontwoman for Arch Enemy, has checked in with the following Ozzfest update:
"Dear friends,
"It’s about time for an update, quite a few things have happened over the last few days.
"Let’s start with the show in Phoenix, AZ 18th of August. With 110 Degrees out there this was easily the hottest day on the tour so far. By noon, people were dropping like flies. Nevertheless, we had a great show with a very energetic audience. Unfortunately, I got a slight case of food poisoning that day and had quite a rough ride thru the mountains to San Diego, where we played an off-show with Killswitch Engage the next day, Friday August the 19th.
"The show went surprisingly well though, I didn’t have any ‘accidents’ during our set - the wonderful crowd really carried me through. I am sorry I didn’t hang out after the show, but I was back to being full-on nauseas. We had some hardcore fans out there that evening; I even got to sign a very rare Asmodina CD!
"So we travelled on to L.A, to play the Ozzfest show that went down in history for the very wrong reasons… Anyway, we had a blast during our show in front of the largest crowd on the whole tour so far, extremely energetic and enthusiastic, stirring up a dust cloud from hell in the moshpit. It felt like eating large spoons full of sand whilst being on stage.
"L.A is famous for having all kinds of ‘important’ people hanging around backstage, whom we decided to escape around 5pm that afternoon – so we left the site. We didn’t witness any of the absurd events that went down during the Iron Maiden set later on that night.
"We played another off-show the next day, supporting Slipknot in Las Vegas. The Slipknot fans (or ‘maggots’) gave us a warm reception – THANK YOU! Last time we were in ‘sin city’ was two years ago with Slayer. We all enjoyed ourselves in one way or the other – I chose the other way and spent a relaxing day in the Spa. The gambling doesn’t do it for me. Neither do the hookers. I am sure the guys made up for my boring behaviour though, he-he…
"On August the 23rd, we played a small but raging Ozzfest show in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Today, we played the Dallas Ozzfest – another very intense and SHORT performance!
"Listening to the new Obituary album, love the old-school vibe and John Tardy’s vocals, sick as always.
"So long,
Angela"
