Sharon Osbourne Defends Wicked Wisdom's Ozzfest 2005 Slot

Since the news broke in mid-May that WICKED WISDOM, the group fronted by actress Jada Pinkett Smith, will play at this year's Ozzfest, little has been heard about the act or how it landed such a coveted gig. But whatever its music sounds like, it convinced tour organizer Sharon Osbourne to put the band on the bill.
"I wasn't sure what to expect when I went to see Wicked Wisdom play last April in a tiny [Los Angeles] club at midnight," Osbourne says. "But let me tell you, I was blown away. When you see and hear Jada with her band it's apparent that she has nothing but love and respect for this genre of music. I totally respect that the band wants to pay their dues playing the second stage on Ozzfest."
WICKED WISDOM is writing all the material for its debut album, which it is co-producing with Ulrich Wild (P.O.D., INCUBUS, STATIC-X). The group is managed by James Lassiter and Miguel Melendez at Overbrook Entertainment, the production/management company owned by Pinkett Smith's actor/rapper husband, Will Smith.
Ozzfest isn't WICKED WISDOM's first high-profile gig: In April and May 2004 the act opened dates on the European leg of BRITNEY SPEARS' Onyx Hotel tour. A spokesperson for WICKED WISDOM says the group — rounded out by Fish (drums), Pocket (guitar), Rio (bass) and Korel (guitar/keyboards) — is "locked down" in a studio recording the album.

As a musician, i think it's f***ed that some sh** publicity stunt of a band is getting attention and being allowed to play at Ozzfest, even if they are any good, i'm sure there's thousands of better ACTUAL METAL BANDS out there that should get their spot on the stage instead of wicked wisdom!!! the only reason that they're getting to play is because one of the members is a f***ing actress!!!! And a sh** one at that! f*** jada, f*** sharon, and f*** ozzfest!!!!

holy f***in sh** i feel like sticking a power drill thru my ears i just download like 4 songs and 3 samples from wicked wisdom ( kill the king, worship me, harmony something , taste your fruit, and some other filth) it was pretty f***in terrible extremly crapy its like 200 x worse than linkin park & crazytown (the sh** was so gay it makes thoser bands look kick ass) ive herd there a " lighter form" of lacuna coil and if lighter = pop sh** and lacuna coil= real female music and talent not sh**afied garbage femalle music then thats correct. Lacuna coil kicks a$$ tho and u can not compare these to bands at all

obviously this new upcomming band isnt better because some of the posters have listened to them (Marcie) and i am about to do so my self. And no one is jealous because they dont have a talent to get a gig that big because she didnt even get this gig off of talent, she got it off of being jada pinket smith in a band and sharon heard her and thought it was neat, she probbably wouldnt have even noticed the band if jada wasnt in it. (wwfan1) Everyone is p***ed off because when they pay money for an ozzfest ticket they expect nothing more then pure fncking metal, that is what ozzfest is all about. Jack and his sister, Kelly, each pick a band each year, then Jack(who at one point wanted to manage the festival) started picking more bands because he was out listening to the scene more. I thought he would be taking over last year or this year. But Ithought wrong, Jack's been off the map for awhile. I don't know if it was rehab or not, but lately, I've been hearing that Jack's ditched becoming a manager and stuff for right now to become a firefighter in NYC or LA.
Hmmmm.....Interesting indeed.
Anyways, to WWFan81, so what if she's an actress? I'm just saying, by my opinion of HEARING THE MUSIC, that this is NOT going to go well. And if it does, I'll shut up, but it won't change the fact, after listening to every song by Wicked Wisdom I could find, I still don't think this sound is going to go well with the crowd.

What in the f*** ever hapened to the kick a$$ line ups at ozzfest? last year it was f***ing judas priest (which wasn't that bad in concert but I still think they sound like some sh**ty 80's hair metal band) and now a f***ing R&B band with Jeda Pinket Smith?! Someone get the duct tape & chains quick before Kelly is put on the tour. My guess is next years tour is: 30 Seconds To Mars (actor Jared Leto's band), however this is probably better than Wicked Wisdom. No metal/ good bands open up for Britney Spears that's just a fact.

The Reality is, even though they suck, it's been expected. I mean come on.....the put Velvet Revolver to replace Iron Maiden halfway through the tour. if it were up to me, I'd put Wicked Wisdom on the main stage over velvet revolver any day, but the reality is none of us are managing the tour, there's nothing we can do about it (except not go), and there are still plenty of good bands on there this year. In Fact, the line-up is better than ever this year (minus wicked wisdom and velvet revolver). They actually have REAL metal bands playing for a majority of the day, instead of Kornhole, sh** Bizquit, Disturb me, Momma Roach. I'd rather put up with 2 bad bands out of a whole day of good music, than go to one of the previous ozzfests where it was all sh** line-ups anyway.

Poetry readings start things off, and then, a special interpretative dance done by Yanni, Moby, and other weird men with only one name.
Soon, Madonna and Britney Spears will give you all a Kaballah chant to memorize.
Taking Back Sunday begin their set, and after getting pelted with fruit and veggies, decide to take out a blender and make smoothies for everyone. Yellowcard and Evanescence also come out and join in the "fun."

I saw Wicked Wisdom last Thursday at the Key Club. I love bands from Aerosmith to Venom. They kicked ass! Jada did a great job, nobody booed, she even got people going in the pit. put it this way, if you liked Body Counts first album, you will like WW. I was talking to a musician that evening and he laughed... "So what if they opened up for Britney Spears". That means a lot of people say them. Not like opening up for the Knack... Know what I mean? Ozzfest will still rock. By the way, I'm also going to the Sounds of the Underground and Gigantour when they come to town. You know, the best thing about this is that I will get turned on to some other great bands! That's what it's all about. Quit being so shallow guys and gals.
