Joy Posts New Track "Red, White, And Blues"
Following a stream of "Hope Less," the ironically named psych rock band Joy has now released a track titled "Red, White, and Blues."
The California band will release new album, "Ride Along!," on April 29tj via Tee Pee Records. Produced by vocalist / guitarist Zachary Oakley and recorded at San Diego's Audio Design Studios (Earthless, Rocket From the Crypt), the album contains nine new Joy compositions and a searing cover of ZZ Top's "Certified Blues."
The track "Red, White, and Blues" (available below) features Earthles drummer Mario Rubalcaba and Sacri Monti guitarist Brenden Dellar ripping alongside Joy frontman / guitarist Zachary Oakley and bassist Justin Hulson.
“We are SUPER stoked to have been able to session with Earthless drummer Mario Rubalcaba on this record," comments Oakley. "I had the tune ‘Red, White and Blues’ laying around for awhile, but something about the tempo and groove just wasn’t jiving right. But man, Mario is one the best drummers in the universe and he took this track into psychedelic-riot / speed-freak tempo which is exactly what it needed and things just clicked."
He goes on to sa y, "Lyrically, it’s an observational commentary on the current American condition; out of control police violence, riots in the streets, racism and minority oppression (to name but a few) masked by the illusion of freedom, packaged and sold to us by a privileged, corrupt few. Stand side by side and battle these RED, WHITE and BLUES!”
