Metallica today announced that the band will reissue "Kill 'Em All" and "Ride The Lightning" on April 15th.

Both albums have been remastered for advanced sound quality and will be available in three formats - CD, vinyl, and a deluxe box set. Both deluxe box sets include original source material from the band's personal collection with many never before heard or seen recordings, along with a book including rare photos and essays.

The deluxe numbered box set of "Kill 'Em All" includes four vinyl records, five CDs, one DVD, a deluxe book including rare photos and a patch. The deluxe numbered box set of "Ride the Lightning" includes four vinyl records, six CDs, one DVD, a deluxe book including more of those unseen photos, a mini-book of lyrics handwritten by James Hetfield, and a set of three posters.

Check out this location for the full package details and track listing. All six new items will also be available at your local record store on Friday, April 15th, just in time for Record Store Day.

I hope they replace Lars' snare with the the one from St. Anger on every damn song. That would be amazing.

Coldiem, I was thinking the exact same thing...

Just replace the entire drumset when they mix it. Ever wanted to know what Creeping Death sounds like played on three trash cans and a broken cymbal? NOW YOU CAN

Worst thing they could do is release these 'remasters' and pull all the old versions out of circulation, something like what Sharon did to BoO and DoaM.
Then any new purchase would be stuck with whatever Metallica's version of advanced sound quality is.
Maybe if they used a known great like Bob Ludwig, the results won't be grating.
