A recently released Autumns Eyes single titled "Internal Arson" can be heard below, and band mastermind Dan Mitchell also comments on an upcoming album:
"The bitter cold of February has fallen upon my shoulders like an iceberg, and with it comes an abundance of creative ideas born out of isolation. Living in Connecticut has its highs and lows, and this time of year is typically when people start letting the doom and gloom take over their lives.
"Fortunately, I use it to my advantage, and feed my creative drive. Since its impossibly cold outside, currently sitting at around ten below zero, my basement studio has become my home away from, but inside, my home. To say a few ideas have been brewing would be an understatement, so I will try my best to consolidate this update for those that give more than two shits.
"First and foremost is the album 'Ending Life Slowly,' which is currently sitting in release date limbo due to production snags and speed-bumps. As with every album, everything is done by myself, so I don’t have the luxury of a team behind me helping move the process along smoothly. That's not to say I am in any way disappointed with this record, its just important for me not to rush things and make sure it sounds exactly how I want it to sound before sending it off into the twisted world.
"This freedom and creative control is something many artists strive for, and is much less stressful than having a record company breathing down my back. Often times those issues will compromise an albums quality, causing the artist to release a sub-par performance. So while it may not be convenient in a traditional sense, its definitely a workflow I respect and enjoy taking advantage of.
"Moving forward into different realms of the Autumns Eyes world, I am also working on bringing back the fan favorite group of models under the name Autumns Eves. For the past year I attempted to consolidate many aspects of Autumns Eyes into one package, which resulted in getting rid of the Autumns Eves website. For those not in the know about this, the Eves website was home to all Autumns Eyes merchandise. What made it unique was the site being led by a group of models who helped promote the site by doing photo shoots in the bands clothing. After much consideration, and demand from fans, Ive decided to bring the site back. Not only does this mean there will be a new group of models to help with promotions, but also a new round of merchandise as well.
"Another area I'm bringing back to life is my audio production tutorials on YouTube, but this time they will be released via my studio brand Beneath the Woods. Previously, I released a series of tutorial videos on the Autumns Eyes YouTube page, which garnered a positive reaction from fans who were also musicians, but caused some diluted confusion for fans who had zero interest in the geek ridden technical side of making music. This is why I've decided to create a YouTube page for my studio, and offer these tutorials on a page that will cater more towards that particular fanbase.
"While on the subject of YouTube, I'm also in the process of converting every Autumns Eyes song and album to be uploaded on YouTube. This will give people more opportunity to not only listen to Autumns Eyes music free of charge, but also a great opportunity to share and possibly attract more listeners.
"As you can see, I have plenty on my plate to keep me busy for the remaining bitterness of winters depressing grip on New England. Needless to say its all in good spirits, and comes from a place of passion which continues to drive me into the future of this demented project. I still have moments where it boggles my mind that Autumns Eyes is still breathing after fifteen years of people complaining that I will never make anything of this if I don’t tour or sell CDs. Yet here I am, and here we are. If you know me, you know this has never been about fame or fortune, its always been about sharing my love for Halloween, Heavy Metal, and Horror Movies with the rest of the world. My allegiance will forever be devoted to those who support me, and continue to share what I do with those who have a mind creepy enough to want to pay attention."
