Down Kicked From FortaRock 2016 Festival Due To "White Power" Fiasco
Looks like the Nazi salute heard round the world at Dimebash has had a bigger repercussion than just online comments, as Down has been pulled from the FortaRock 2016 lineup. The organizers of the festival comment (translated to English):
"After the recent outbursts by singer Phil Anselmo during the Dimebash event in the US, his band Down is no longer welcome at FortaRock. Anselmo ended the show in the US with a Nazi salute and shouted 'white power.'
"There has been close consultation between all parties in recent days, since we wanted to make a well informed decision. On that basis, the decision is made to cancel the act. We want to make clear that there is no room for racism or fascism at FortaRock."
Phil Anselmo has since issued an apology video, although it appears that wasn't enough to save Down at this particular festival. What do you think of this move by the festival, and do you think any others will follow and also cancel appearances featuring Anselmo?

I guess no one listens to burzum either. Banning them from the show is stupid and I'll never go to a show put on by this promoter ever again, regardless of how awesome the show. The personal opinions of the artist do not matter the art is a separate entity. If the art is something that offends you, fine don't listen but stopping down from playing due to Phil being an a$$ is stupid. f*** this promoter. Hopefully they don't start banning bands with hate speech about xtians because black metal will go away for good. Such bs.

@Notsane Festival promoters can choose who they want to appear and Down became too controversial for them to think that they could draw a crowd. Festivals are expensive for both promoters and fans and Down became radioactive, particularly when there are other big summer metal festivals that Down isn't playing at who will presumably earn more money by not having them.
Or to put it another way, there's a reason why Emperor didn't get big until the late-90s and spent most of the early-mid 90s being to controversial to book for a mainstream tour. It's entirely about economics and what people are willing to pay money for.

Man, the PC Nazis are really controlling the minds of the world. It's much easier to talk trash about religion than race, even if you are being silly about it. I recently met a black man in the hospital who thought the PC brigade is out of hand. He works for a living and doesn't complain, but he suffers from illness. It's not the world's fault and he came from a generation that wasnt' so uptight. He said he remembers going "ni^&&gger knocking." I asked him if that offended him. He said no, nor did the term "ghetto blaster" bother him. Maybe people don't know the ugly, racial history of something, but people don't always care. I'm sure he saw some ugly racism growing up, but he's obviously made his peace. He doesn't want resteration for something slavery. No, he doesn't complain and has worked his anus off to get to where he is today. Even though he has a hardcore illness, he still runs his own business. Wining will get you no where. Quit wining people.

Now if there's any other band there that's as controversial as Down, then it's Megadeth. Dave's the guy who said that he opposes gay rights because he isn't gay and then endorsed Rick Santorum for President and unlike Phil DID NOT APOLOGIZE. How long until people stop making excuses for Mustaine and take their time and money elsewhere?

Dasher, I'm not a disturbed fan by any means(I think their lame actually) but I'm pretty sure the lead singer never publicly called for palestinian genocide on stage or off....It sucks that the entire band has to pay for the mistakes of its front man but I understand that Europe has much different feelings about that kind of stuff since WWII was actually fought over there......I hope down doesn't get kicked off helmets....

@oldthrasherinflorida I never said that it was wrong for Draiman to be Israeli. If anything criticizing somebody because of the actions of their government is a pretty sh**ty thing to do. That's like saying that you refuse to deal with Chinese people because China pulls the same sh** over in Tibet that Isreal pulls in Palestine or to refuse to have anything to with Saudis because Saudi Arabia is the most sexist country in the world.
I was saying that MetalHed is wrong to criticize Disturbed instead of Down.

I think Tator tots are the superior form of deep fried potato products. The ratio of surface area to content is much better than those greasy French fry fvcks. Tator tots should wipe the French fries from the face of the earth! I salute the mighty tator tot and exclaim "TATOR POWER!"
