Feeder, Black Sabbath, and System Of A Down will headline this year’s Download festival, with organisers confirming that the Donington event will be held over three days for the first time ever.
Garbage, Billy Idol, Velvet Revolver, HIM, Slayer and Slipknot will also play at the third annual Download Festival, which takes place at Donington Park from 10-12 June.
Download organisers confirmed nine of the acts that are set to play over the weekend, with over 70 more expected to be announced in the coming months.
Garbage and Billy Idol join Feeder on the newly added Friday, as part of a bill which aims to broaden the musical scope of the festival by bringing in more ‘indie’ acts. Feeder singer Grant Nicholls enthused: “We are really excited about playing Download. This will be our biggest headline show yet and there's a bit of pressure on us to get the weekend off to a rocking start but we're used to playing on big stages and we'll put on a good show"
The following evening, Velvet Revolver and HIM will warm up for headliners Black Sabbath, the first time Ozzfest has been held since 2001. Topping the Sunday bill, prior to System Of A Down, will be Slipknot and Slayer to help close the festival in its true metal spirit!
As well as masses more bands, organisers have also promised to extend the fun of the festival to the campsite, adding a massive entertainment zone, featuring a cinema tent, a third stage bar and several campsite bars. Skate and BMX fans will be pleased to hear that the Soul Bowl will be back again and this year open until much later, with some very special guests appearing on stage.
Tickets for this year's three-day rock extravaganza went on sale at 9am this morning (Wednesday, 9 February) and are priced at £105 for a three-day ticket.
Camping tickets are to be purchased separately at a cost of £22.50, with hot showers and weekend car parking included. Festival goers purchasing three-day festival tickets but not wishing to camp will be able to purchase car parking for an additional £5 but only if the passes are purchased at the same time as the festival tickets. Car passes purchased on the day will costs £10.
